UPDATE: THE CONTEST IN THIS POST IS OVER AND THE WINNER HAS REDEEMED THEIR PRIZE! THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING AND THE KIND COMMENTS
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to my blog! But still mostly to me! Island Guests! I have done it! I have existed for a year now! *cue stock sound effect of children cheering* On the 16th of July 2019 Pinkie first spoke to you.. Pinkie was created as a character.. though she did have an earlier rendition that doesn’t count! Since It’s my birthday, even though not my actualy birthday I am going to take it easy today and instead let you do the hard work! But for the one who does best I have a reward that means a very great deal to me!
Today I am giving away a copy of Ducktales Remastered for Steam!…Well.. except that I am not.. today I launch the competition to win this esteemed gift! I will actually be giving it away when we decide a winner on Sunday the 26th. (Revealed in the real life update of my Anime Adventures posts). I was thinking on what to use as a give-away and I decided on the game that changed my childhood! My geeky origins! If I was Peter Parker.. this would be the spider that bit me. If I was the Hulk this would be my Gamma rays.. If I was Batman I would be giving away my parents killer… uhm.. thank Arceus I am me right? I know it isn’t prestigious and it isn’t new nor a very expensive gift for me to give , but this is one very personal to me and that felt much more fitting as a birthday gift. Of course Sunday.. I will be giving away a somewhat bigger gift as well. I do hope the game will go to a loving home! This game will be handed to you as a Steam Key! So we don’t have to get all personal if you do not like that kind of stuff!
This is not a give-away I do to gain extra members so it’s not like that.. share on twitter , share on Instagram and FaceBook to earn extra entries and all! No! Pinkie is old so that means she comes from a time where prices are won by solving puzzles, creating an amazing catch phrase or writing something funny! So guess what! I am asking you to put your brains to work! Same will apply for Sunday! Except that one might actually see an impact here! Now before I put you guys to work let me assure you I will not stalk my prize winners or rig this so one of my friends gets the price….because my friends don’t read my blog! Well King Coconut is a friend but I still treat him like your equal! Also I already gifted this to him..partially by accident..but heck I miss good old creativity contests so I thought I’d host one.
Well l have been very local by love for the classic NES Ducktales! Of course since I don’t have a slew of regional NES systems available to me so I can’t EXACTLY give you the game that forged me! I can give you the next best thing in the form of the 2013 Remastered version! Check the trailer here!
A great platformer with good controller support, voice acting from the original Ducktales Cast. A platforming adventure that takes you to many places in the world. Now including Duckburg and with a more exciting finale! Help Scrooge McDuck , the richest duck in the world, become even richer by hunting for 5 mystical treasures that includes CHEESE! Jake Kaufman recomposed the masterful tunes of the original into amazing works of art! I especially love his take on the Amazone theme. I normally share the Moon theme with you..but something tells me you might have heard it! So here is the Amazone theme!
If your computer is old enough to survive today it should be able to run this game no problem! So there is a plus! If you like games like Shovel Knight or Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.. this game is the facelifted grandmother of many of their mechanics! Play as the best animal a world! The tame duck, and visit more exciting locations than you would in your average James Bond game. You’ll be able to finish this game in under three hours, but then there is still heaps to unlock dive into a pile of gold coins and unlockable artwork including that of the original series! Find out what has me so obsessed and participate!
Step 0: Make sure you have Steam.. or you can’t play or even redeem this game! (The next one doesn’t require steam)
Step 1: Do subscribe to the blog and follow me on twitter if you can. This isn’t for me to gain numbers , though I would not mind of course, but so that I can contact you if you won! Either find your site, your twitter whatever I can do to notify you.
Step 2: Like this post! It will not do anything for your win chances but it will make me happy! It’s my birthday so I deserve to be happy! I see all those colourful little avatars down there who liked my posts as little gifts… speaking of gifts!!
Step 3: Wish me and my Blog a Happy Birthday and tell me what you would gift my blog’s anniversary! You can do this either in the comments.or if you are unable to do so, respond to my tweet featuring this post! Note.. these should not be actual gift but fictional ones! So they don’t even need to be founded in reality! You can wish an wereduck disease upon me if you want or my very own baby dragon named Blip.. who rides a scooter!
Your creation will be judged on 4 factors! >Would this non existing gift actually make me happy? (Famine and a guy who does my taxes are bad answers) >Is the gift creative and fun (A Unicorn or my favourite Pokémon coming to life are not very original answers) >Is the Birthday wish itself creative? (Bonus points if you can make that orginal) > A Secret Bonus factor (Because secrets are always exciting) Real gift giving does NOT increase your chances! Not for this specific code anyway! You might coax me into giving you a copy as well if you are a billionare giving me a blank cheque.. I do not expect that to happen.. but just saying!
Step 4: Submit your Answer before the 23rd of July 2020! (Deadline is 22th of July 11:59 PM GMT+1) Only one submission per person, your earliest entry is the one that will count! No multi-account spamming either! If I find out or suspect that I’ll disqualify those submissions! Keep it fun and fair for everyone! Not that I’d think people would Multi-Account for Ducktales.. but at least this rule is in place for the next give-away! The Anniversary Week Day 5 post will be a shopping list of gifts I’d give to myself and can be used as examples! Submissions before that post goes live can score bigger on originality though! So take a risk and get a chance to score big by answering early.. or get to know me better by reading the next post first, but start with a slightly lower modifier! The choice is yours! The game is on!
Step 5: I will contact the winner somewhere between the 23rd and the 26th of July! If I can’t contact you..because I have no means to do so your name will be announced in the post Pinkie’s Saturday Anime Adventure 13 .. right at the end! If you see your name use the contact form..or twitter to contact me! If people ask me if they have won before then they will be disqualified, it would give them an unfair advantage if they bring their answer to my attention and I really do not want to send mails to disappoint people when I do not need to!
Should no one participate in the competition I shall search for a good home for this price! But I’d be a bit sad! So if you know anyone who might like this game, make them aware of this contest. But don’t give yourself to much competition! Be smart!
And with that we are already done with today’s post! Yay! So drop your Birthday wish and your gift idea in the comments or on twitter and win this beautiful and amazing platform game! Experience my first gaming memory, remade in HD and get to understand yours truly better.. and live out your fantasy to be the richest duck in the world! Yay! Have fun guys and thanks for being with me this year!
Look at the past, my darling Island Guests! Game are and Strange and Vast, Filled with wonders and tests. Face each old game with eyes clear and true! Today will be awesome..as I play Ducktales Woooohoo.
Pinkie is going to piss some people of with these opinions
Incredible respect for those who were able to sing that opening rather than reading it! We are kindred spirits. Today I re-review what is possibly a contender for my most favorite game ever. Along with Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger this game means so much to me. So I will already tell you it might receive a high score! I wanted to see if my treasured gem still could stand the face of time. It sure did. While it’s length is very short in this day and age, that applied to many other games. What it still gives is an amazing unique mechanical platform experience. A game that heavily inspired Crankey’s Moveset in the later Donkey Kong games and of course the noble Shovel Knight. This without a shadow of doubt in my mind is the single best licensed game ever made. Beating Turtles in Time, Epic Mickey , Kingdom Hearts and even GoldenEye.
The reason it’s better than those last two, DuckTales hasn’t aged as poorly. It’s controls are still butter smooth in its simplicity, the enemy attack patterns still work and challenge you, the hunt for the best ending is not that hard because the game lasts about an hour or so if you are a bit thorough but well versed in it. Maybe a bit less even. Despite of it being easy there is a sense of joy in hunting these treasures and playing these stages which all are quite diverse. We have a jungle theme level, a horror themed level, an underground one, a snow and ice themed one and of course the moon. Home to my most beautiful memory and my favorite song ever..probably. Every stage has just a bit of a different feeling and some secrets to unlock. Mind you.. there is not much secrets.. but is just a great joy to boot this game up a few times and just play through these great stages. GoldenEye’s controls now deeply disappointed and Kingdom Hearts gameplay really shows its age when it comes to collecting and progress.
She is totally being genuine though she really loves this game!
The graphics are vibrant for NES all sprites are very recognisable for what they should be. Even the tribal guys I can still very distinctly tie to when they encountered similar character in the series. Yet for some weird reason Dewey wears green look Louis.. why?! It’s a quirk I always wandered about and one the excellent remakes fixes, yet now that I played the original I can say I vastly prefer it over the remake. The speed of which you can run through this game is what makes it so timeless. The Remake added some extra exploratory requirements to all stages, that are much more in your face. You need to do so.. in the original .. you COULD do that if you want. If you want the good ending it is probably wise. You can also make things very hard for yourself and try to get the bad ending (which is extremely hard to do.. without hacking nigh impossible) It’s that type of game that isn’t very challenging but you make your own challenge for.. We can do that to old games but Ducktales lends itself even better for such things than Mario because of its unique jumping system (at the time).
This whole game is build around the pogo jump! A bouncy but deadly way of attacking using a cane. I guess if Dr Jekyll tried this out he might have not had such a sucky NES game. The pogo stick is unique to Ducktales even though it later got mimicked.. this was the main gimmick of the game and boy was it used well. In a way Mario stole from ducktales when they came up with the spin jump as it basically does everything the pogo jump does. It allows you to bounce of spiky objects or in mario’s case spike enemies. It can break blocks and it destroyed enemies. When Mario steals from you when it comes to platforming you know you are on the right track. The life system is also nicely done in Ducktales. Lives are finite and a single game over makes you start all over but you can spend money for extra lives as well as find extra lives and health upgrades across the stages. This means that you always have to balance exploring and clearing with each other. Getting sidetracked may drain your life..but you might gain life as well. Even if there is not you can buy lifes using your overworld score make sure you reach the end.. but without having the best ending. Balanced!
Seriously if this game was an anime girl she would waifu it!
Ducktales is not hard to beat, not even on the harder difficulties , it’s fairly forgiving and any mistakes you make are your fault, there is little cheap enemies here or impossible to dodge attacks. You just need to learn…or remember by heart because you played this game so much. Yet Ducktales would have been made for younger kids most likely so it makes sense they get a game of this difficulty. When I was a kid it had the perfect difficulty for me and now.. now I just need to expand my challenges from time to time. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s this was a common practice in gaming. “I challenge you to beat Mario 1-1 without collecting a single coin’ ‘Beat Glass Joe without taking a single hit’ we used to egg each other on for extra challenges. In fact Nintendo even made a few retro collection games around this concept.
Ducktales is very cleverly designed in a way that this game can be used in such a way. We have a money score we can use for high-scores, there is a timer we can race with, there is several routes and additional tricky obstacles and several methods of traversing obstacles that making challenge each other or yourself is super fun. While maybe not especially designed around it back than that was possible. Nowadays games hold your hand to much or offer you so much freedom that a choice of playstyle is irrelevant. Playing a game alternatively now doesn’t work because either a game tells you to finish this boss with X or there are 20.994 ways to defeat a boss and your chosen options is just.. one.
While the Ducktales game could use some more iconic bosses the whole world building still feels like a part of it’s world. Of course we have the boss from the African Mines which directly links to the show and the Magica Despell fight in Transilvania , a moon rat and and an amazone statue feel a bit meh. Why not Glomgold or Mother Beagle? Yet I do feel the statue and the moon rat really make sense at the same time.. like they are supposed to be there. Where most video game enemies can feel forced in, I never had that much with Ducktales.. except for some Beagle Boys underneath the surface of the moon. Effort went into building this world and back then.. Capcom basically was the only one to really do that.. at least in such a diverse setting. It is simple but it works and thus it becomes timeless.
Yep she is gonna talk about THAT again! Crazy Fangirl Alert
Of course Ducktales biggest charm is it’s presentation. All the characters except for Dewey look like their series counterpart. You can tell everything apart. Purple was a colour that could not be implemented in the game so Magica Despell and Miss Beakley have some weird moments, but they are in there, you know who they are without reading a manual and they do what you expect.
Everything does what you expect..well maybe not Turbo because he doesn’t crash but can actually fly! Still despite of it’s limited graphics I never had trouble imagining how it would look like, plenty of iconic characters are hidden throughout the game. There is just a lot of love for the series and gaming in general in this little cartridge and it shows…. and is audible Yes time to gush about the moon theme as well. One of the most iconic video game music pieces of all time. Yet also the opening theme using the actual series theme was great, the sound when you climb up a vine or rope, the theme in the amazon.. the sound your pogos-tick makes. It’s all fantastic.
I seriously spend about two minutes in the amazon just climbing up and down on the first rope just to hear those sounds again..searched for the hidden room in Transylvania so I had to do a lot of mini pogo bounces. It all is just perfect for a platformer. This is what my childhood sounds like. Wiggu Wiggu Wiggu and the Moon Theme. This music still leads a life to this day..making its way into official new products, becoming cannon in ducktales lore. Capcom where the masters of video game soundtracks and this one is amazing once again.
I could stretch this post out and pretend like I care about the minor flaws like how it was not needed to press down to activate the pogo, or how the mine carts have a bit of a sticky control scheme making them needlessly tricky. I could tell you about a scene where Scrooge actually tosses his cousins off a cliff with a minecart he is riding and telling you they could have done that differently. No.. that all doesn’t matter. Nowadays we think a 10/10 game should have no flaws and we should remorselessly point out everything that is wrong with it. That is not right. A 10/10 game to me is a game that is so fun to play that despite its flaws you will boot it up again. Each time you play, regardless if it crashes regardless if controls can glitch a bit or some elements seem wrong, you smile.
Ducktales is a game I love so sooo much that whatever flaws are in there.. don’t matter to me. It has no impact on my experience with the game. Each time I beat this game and I think I have beaten it (across both version) well over 30 times now (if not closer to 50) and each I keep on smiling. Each playthrough as fun as it was my first. Ducktales was the first game I loved.. so in a way this is my Number 1 Dime.. this is what made me a gamer and when I play it today I still feel.. this is why I am a gamer. No matter if listen to the soundtrack, play a single stage or complete the game, when I play Ducktales I feel like the richest person/duck in the world.
Welcome back my dear island guests. Today I am exploring Movie Park Germany in the real world looking for some of the remaining halloween spooks. The visit is a surprise gift for my birthday next week though so I had little time to make a sunday blog. That was when I figured….my paradise could use some music. What better way to start then the console I grew up with. The NES. Everything is allowed Main theme, stage themes and boss themes. I will however only use only one entry per franchise and only use their original version. So unfortunately no Excitebike remix from Mario Kart 8..but that is an honourable mention. Additionally , this is not the list of most catchy themes since that would result in just naming the classic main themes. It’s a list of memorable and engaging songs of my first owned console.
Tune Number 5: Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – Bloody Tears
What a terrible night to have a curse , these words linger through everyone’s head who played this game. Incredibly cryptic and even broken in terms of ending and Dialogue , Castlevania II : Simon’s Quest is a game of debatable quality. However those who who love or hate this game alike all are in agreement. Bloody Tears is a brilliant song. While many consider Vampire Killer to be the superior track, I would have to give the title to the doozy in this sequel. There is more build up to it more, more structure. The track feels more leveled and captures the gothic feeling of the series just a bit better. While Vampire Killer stands for Simon Belmont, Bloody Tears to me stands for Dracula. Since, Castlevania is more about Dracula then it is about Simon to me I always found this one to be the more fitting one to represent the amazing franchise.
Tune Number 4 : Silver Surfer – Stage 2
Now this is a weird one, the game itself is not a very good game, the angry video game nerd even deemed it a bad game. However I would not go that far… as long as you have a turbo controller. The game is insanely hard even ridiculously, I managed to finish about three stages but I was never able to finish the entire game because the trick is to finish this game on a single life.. to keep your shooty upgrades. Dying once.. and dying means hitting a single thing, means losing it all which makes somse stages virtually impossible. Meanwhile everything wants to kill you.. Touhou before Touhou. However what was excellent about this game was it’s sound design. The soundtrack of the entire game was worth a listen but this one has that particular earworm vibe. Check out the game if you like a challenge and check the soundtrack if you are into 8-bit master pieces. The box-art was pretty amazing too!
Tune Number 3: Super Mario 2 – Overworld
While I vastly preferred the original Super Mario over the second one gameplay wise that overworld theme of the second game is just soooo good. It’s quirk and fun and it has this level of ‘swing’ where you can tap your foot on the beat when your playing or swing your hand while snapping your finger when you are just listening. It might lack the iconic level of the first one, but this one sweeps me away and I often linger in the first stage just to catch some more of tune. The way the sounds interacted with the theme, from when your climbing on a vine to opening up a door, it all seemed to harmonise together so greatly. A symphony of gameplay and soundtrack. Now I have to admit that I might favor the rendition of Doki Doki Panic (the game Super Mario 2 is a reskin for the western world off) a bit better. It feels more tranquil less hard, due to the lack of one additional sound channel the NES had compared to the famicom. Adding in the sound of my jumps and climbing though the victory still goes to the NES. Even the way the stage progresses to the boss theme, where we fight the first Transgender character in video gaming ever… in the form of Birdo seems well done. This song blends with everything.
Tune Number 2: Mega Man 2 – Dr Wily Stage 1/2
Albert Wily is a briljant but dangerous man and the antagonist of Mega Man since the earliest consoles. In the second adventure the first two stages of his castle got a simply briljant theme. I listen to this soooo much be it in a remix or just the classic. Mega Man 2 was one of the first games I played and got good at. Being a bit of lonely kid as I walked funny and did things weirdly I spend a lot of time with my games and Mega Man was one of my top three games. I honed my craft and one by one.. over the terms months if not even years I got closer each time to defeat more Robot Masters. The first time I reached Wily’s castle I went a little queasy at how awesome this music was. I was overwhelmed and it made me feel really badass for reaching it. The music in itself was a reward and it highlighted perfectly how far your journey had gone.. how good you must have gotten to make it this far, how badass Megaman was by now. Even to this day I feel there is this “anime’ quality to it, I could easily see it being used as an opening for some kind of cyber-punky shounen show. It feels like more than just an 8 bit track. It has some amazing remixes out there as well so be sure to check those out! They are definitely worth your time. The box-art of the megaman games is notoriously bad though.
Tune Number 1: Ducktales – The Moon
In 2017 the new ducktales animated show began to air, in which Huey Dewey and Louie move in with their uncle Scrooge. At the end of season 1 I cried.. like a baby. We simply got a pan-shot to the moon that played a remix of this song after which a big reveal was made. The tune made it’s return in the second season.. and I cried even harder. It was beautiful. A few years earlier, a remake of Ducktales the NES game came out on steam, I bought it and when I reached the moon stage..I cried, I had to pause my game to cry away my joy. The Ducktales game was based on the Disney afternoon show in my youth, my favorite tv show and favorite video game .. quite possibly ever even inching ahead of Pokémon. Ducktales made me a gamer, Ducktales made me feel good about myself for the first time.
Even if it was just a video game, there were obstacles I could overcome. The theme from the moon is universally beloved and just so incredibly good that I could never forget it. If I had to tell you how nostalgia would sound I would hum this tune. While I claim Pink Fluffy Unicorns is my anthem and signifies my mindset , The Moon represents my journey through life. Or me as a gamer. This to me is not just the best NES track ever, it’s one of the if not THE best (game) songs ever. Whenever I feel sad about my life, I listen to this song and I am that little girl again who can enjoy herself with a cookie and this gem of a game. One day I hope to get a copy of the game again. Just as a keepsake. I would build a little display for it like the moon, and see if I got some techno friends that make the display play the moon theme. That’s how good this one is.
It’s finally time! About a week ago we we nominated for the Sunshine Blogger award. With lots of social stuff I had to attend as some really sore muscles throughout the entire week it took me seven whole days to get to this. Once more I would like to thank A Girl and her Anime for the nomination. I have handed the questions to reporter Pinkie Cherryblossom who will hold a short interview.
Thank you Pinkie! Amelia from A Girl And Her Anime came up with these questions so mad props to her! Would you kindly visit her blog? Since I said “Would you Kindly?” it means you all are going to have to do it! She writes some pretty insightful stuff as well as some fun reviews. She seems like an amazing person that deserves more followers. Then again she might be an alien mastermind coming to earth trying to charm way to an otaku army, you never know. Yet what are the chances that two of those happen to have the exact same idea and even follow each others blog. So nevermind that I am sure she is awesome! Moving on!
The Sunshine Blogger award has some rules which I will post near the end. I’d say most of you by now have seen these post before now anyway so I am sure you know. Let’s get down to these questions Pinkie if you please take a seat I will ask us the questions Amelia came up with. Even though she tagged 11 bloggers the first question she came up with seems to be made JUST for us! So thank you for that one! Question number one is…..!
If you were a Pokémon, what sort of Pokémon would you be?
I wish I could say I was a Sylveon..It’s all about love and that is really big for me, and with a lot of pink and cute ribbons it is totally my style. It’s a bit of my spirit animal. However my friends always call me Pancham, because it’s a Panda. It has become a meme on how pure my mind is, I never understand sex jokes, I never get inuendo and I am honestly not all that interested in the physical stuff to a point of not at all. To my friends amusement I always seem to miss any lewd moments as well. If we are watching an anime, the moment I get up there will be a risque scene, when I get back the scene is over. When two friends are making out.. I get distracted by a butterfly passing outside and completely miss it. One night a friend was joking and asking ‘What if Pinkie does see something lewd? Will the universe explode?’ He wanted to put something on his tv but at that exact moment the batteries of his remote control were drained. That’s when I became the ultimate Panda. So my Pokémon would have to reflect that as well. I really do feel like I would be a fairy-type though so lets say I am a regional form Pancham that is a Fairy-Psychic type (A nice counter part to the dark-fightingy type, pangoro grows into) also to reflect I really like Kawaii stuff but also to play mind games with people.I would have pixilate as an ability.. because I’d love to make normal stuff cute and I could still show my love throughout the move Return that way! That is a move that deals more damage if the Pokémon loves it’s trainer a lot. If I like you well enough I will fight super hard for you, so it seems like a great fit.
Do you play video games? If so what have you been playing recently?
Well will not cheese this one and say I have been playing Pokémon Let’s Go, Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Ultra Sun… I do but those are all like stuff I normally talk in this blog about. What I have been playing most recently is Ducktales Remastered. Ducks are some of my favorite animals. When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother what will I be? She sighed and just put on Disney. Ducktales was one of the first TV shows I ever loved. To this day I have fuzzy memories and I ADORE the 2017 remake. Because I was a total dojikko (a clumsy girl) when I was young, because it would turn out there was something wrong with, I never really liked playing outside. It would always end up with me falling from or into something. If that didn’t happen I would get stuck somewhere. It was stressful. So my parents decided to buy me a NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) with Super Mario Bros 3 and Ducktales as starting games. Mario 3 was nice, but I was in love with Ducktales. It was Shovel Knight, 25 years before Shovel Knight and it was the game that turned me into a gamer. Like a lot of games it has gotten a remake that I played with a friend once (at their place) but now it is being pulled of the market and going away for ever. So shout out to Kurtis for gifting me this one!
What is your favorite colour: Any particular reason why it’s your favorite?
Pinkie’s favorite colour is pink! I bet you didn’t see that one coming if you have ever been to my blog. Pink has a deeper meaning to me though then just being cute. I never grew up very girly, due to my faulty build the other girls and I grew apart, as my lack of grace resulted in me not really liking the stuff they liked and feeling happier with a controller in my hand. I could exert an amount of control over my actions in games I lacked in real life. So I became a bit of a tomboy/loner/geek with teenage mutant ninja turtle shirts and the likes in an attempt to at least belong somewhere.. like being that girl that is one of the guys but who was never accepted as one either and a lot of bullying ensued .. mostly because I moved so weirdly . Itt took me many years to find that out and just around the time I was finally becoming me around when I was 22. I started to experiment with pink clothes. Around that same time I got very sick, my muscle issues seemed to tax my heart now as well. We didn’t exactly know what was wrong so I had to visit a lot of hospitals At the time I had a pink pyjama and pink bathrobes . In the hospital it’s not that hard for you to feel like just a number or patient X. I wasn’t at one ward each time I was at different places so it even felt more like that. It very much looked like there wasn’t going to be a future for me at all at that time which resulted in a bit of an existential crisis that I would die and no one would remember, that I would be a person that is truly gone straight away. Yet I got a bit better, a medicine was found that helped me greatly. Doctors a lot more positive began to refer to me by my super pink look, calling me Pinkie. I developed a persona alongside it as a coping mechanism which turned out to be much closer to my actual core self.. but not as afraid and held back by the bullying i received in the past. It represented my repressed self, my true self and ever since that time I connect pink to the strength to be me the freedom to be me.
What is your favorite thing to do during summer?
Sorry about the long answers before this one! Amelia sure picked her questions neatly! There was a lot of stuff to tell. My favorite thing to do during summer is stroll around on a boulevard on the late evening, the sun warming my muscles, the feeling of a vaction you can have while strolling through a place where everything seems to move just a tiny bit slower than it normally would, seeing that bit of heat distortion way ahead towards your destination. Just by the look of the sky being able to tell that tomorrow is going to be another great day The freedom and the level of comfort are great. Shall I go out with some friends for a drink? Shall I buy that cute purse in the window tomorrow. I love all those things , but that toasty summer stroll where everything is still possible is my favorite moment.
Ghibli is obviously very popular , but what movie do you think is the most overrated?
Honestly? I think all of them are at least a bit overrated. I do like them quite a lot but I do find some of them a bit overly artsy as well. They might impress me more than your average film, they might have the stronger messages behind them but I for one prefer to be entertained . The Wind rises i saw in a premiere for example. With messages what we should not let technology pass us by and creative choices like having all engines be made by voice effects to make them sound more warm and personal is great. I sit there and nod my head going! Good Show that is impressive. When I watch the second Gurren Laggan movie I am not thinking , wow that’s impressive or that is such a clever allegory. No when I watch that movie I am shouting at my screen. “WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE” , extending my hand to help Giga drill break and in their first movie, when Simon and Kamina Gatai for the first time I am like kicking the floor in a giddy excitement. Ghibli can make me laugh, and it can make me cry but it can never take me on a real roller coaster of emotions. They feel like the Louvre museum of anime. Mad respect to the Louvre.. but when I am in Paris I much rather go to Disneyland
If you could travel back in time, when you travel and why?
Tokyo 1991. The Gameboy has just come out and Satoshi Tajiri will soon talk to Miyamoto about developing the link cable, during which they would talk about transferring insects. A concept that would lead to development of Pokémon. I plan to go there and steal their pitch! So I can own the Pokémon IP, of course I would still entrust Game Freak with the idea after, but think of all the money I would have and I would be the princess or queen even of Pokémon. Sure I could help the world by altering a historic event but that’s boring! I am going to be honest, I’d rather be rich than a hero, I deserve some good times as well.
As a the new leader of a country, what is the first law you introduce?
This is a hard one, I could spout some idealistic nonsense that is never going to happen anyway like ‘everyone’ is forced to love each other but this is not enforceable and it would kill individuality if it works. No I would instead create the ‘my opinion’ law . It’s a harsh one as it would forbid any form of social influencing media from phrasing their opinions as facts. ‘People who can’t play Tracer should be shot … would be an illegal titel for your post. ‘I think people who can’t play Tracer should be shot’ would be fine. A lot of negativity in this world comes from big youtubers saying something is bad, convincing people their is only one correct opinion, if creates conflict and division. When we forbid people to claim their opinions as factual and make them say that this is only their opinion, it is much harsher to cause harm to anyone. Don’t believe in a non-binary gender system? Saying “there is only males and females is hurtful’ hearing ‘In my opinion gender IS binary’ might be disappointing but is never hurtful. Both offender and offensee can realise there are two sides to this coin. We can learn to respect each others opinions because they are forced to be spoken out as such. A single opinion never has the power to change you, you can however choose to heed the opinion. So gone with the Count Dankula’s in this world and goodbye to “you are stupid and should die” In my nation you’ll read “I think you are stupid and should die instead’ It already stings less, and over time maybe we can fix this weird ass Political Correct purgatory we are creating for ourselves. and actually start being ourselves rather than our newly invented emblem or classical stereotype. If we know our enemies are just giving their opinon, we can hug them better.
Have you been reading anything lately?
I’ve been reading the Pokémon Adventures Manga as well as a bit of Is This A Zombie? It’s been a while since I read an actual good book. I’ve been trying to read Dan Brown’s origin but I don’t have a lot of positive things to say about that one. I’ve also been reading the D&D 5th GM manual and player handbook a lot! Those are technically books. Finally I have been reading all of your blogs, they are all amazing, yours is even a little better than that of my others readers but that is a secret between us two okay?
Tell us about your favourite film
I actually have two. My regular answer to what my favorite movie is would be. Catch me if you can. I love the story of the young con-artist pretending to be a pilot, lawyer and doctor. Dicaprio portrays Frank Abagnale perfectly. Tom Hanks playing the FBI agent who is after him is done exceptionally well, I root for both sides I watch the movie. It’s such a compelling story with a great soundtrack, stellar acting and basically anything a girl can wish for in a good movie. It’s definitely my favorite good movie and if you haven’t seen it yet you should definitely check it out.
My REAL favourite movie however would have to be Tommy Wisseau’s the room. The BEST worst movie ever. It is such a cringeworthy watch each time, yet it has become so much more than just a film to me. I crossplayed Wiseau, I met people because of the movie, I went to special theaters, I carry plastic spoons when I see it. Whenever I see a small dog I go “hi doggie” even if I actually speak dutch. It gave us jokes inside our group of friends. We are even considering organising “tommy con’ It will not be an actual convention, it will just be fans of the movie gathering in a park.. dressed in a suit, tossing american footballs around. For those who don’t know what the Room is? The Room tells the story about Johny, and all American man (with a bit of an accent) who gets cheated on by his wife when his promotion falls trough. There are some other plothooks like a mother in law with cancer, which is never addressed, a young boys issues with drugs, which isn’t really addressed or rounded out, characters appearing and vanishing from thin air… and random people who don’t live there having sex on the couch. There is a lot of spoons hidden in the movie as well as well as tossing the football. it is atrociously bad and almost unwatchable and I love every minute of my own.. and the friends I watch it with suffering. James Franco made a movie about how bad this movie is called the disaster artist and that one was just as great. All the stories surrounding The Room, make it something greater.
Put your music on shuffle. What are the first three songs to play?
My father was a musician and he always tried to force his music onto me, I never rebelled much as a teen, but I kinda rebelled to music in general,. Now I mostly listen weeaboo music or geek music. I never play any pop music or anything. So I will just share the last tracks I listened trough videos.
And one bonus song! Because it started playing right after and I felt bad in leaving this one off!
If you were to suggest an anime I had to watch, what would you recommend?
Way too known to be a proper suggestion would be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, it’s my favorite anime ever by a landslide. A giga drill breaker caused landslide, that one is just so friggin amazing I have to actively try not to soil myself in excitement. However because it’s that amazing I think everyone in the world already knows about it and follow the Gospel of Kamina and Simon so the thing I am gonna recommend is….. Selector Infected Wixoss.
A slightly more obscure 2014 anime about cute girls battling with cards to get their wish granted. If you win 3 card battles you get your wish granted, if you lose 3 you’ll lose your wish forever as well as the little buddy that dwells inside your main card.Yet no one knows the true and dark secrets about this card battle game. The anime starts out incredibly slow but once the story starts rolling you have an extremely dark story that brings Madoka and Yu-gi-oh together in a grim tale. Do not expect a happily ever after when you start this one because this goes in the shadows, this isn’t cute girls playing a children’s card game… this is some serious doodoo. The characters are nice and though nothing to special they work and you pelted with a million of them . If you like Madoka, and if you like to a slower moving story filled with intrigue and mystery, with the pay off mostly in the later half of the series, then this is a series you should watch.
Now I have to nominated 11 others bloggers to answer my questions and hand them this award. Honestly tracking down he wants a nomination or who has been nominated has become way to much work so I just picked those who I really want to ask these questions too and those who deserve a little sunshine. And the Nominees are!
I know this is 12 but I am pretty sure Mallow or someone on this list went on a hiatus. so it should be fine! Congrats guys! You have been nice for me, provided me some neat content, impressed me or all! of the above!
Now there are 5 rules , with me completely ignoring one because I do promoting my stuff on others blogs. Rule number 1 Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their site so people can visit their website. (Feel free however to ignore my entire nomination if you don’t want to to the award thing. I mainly picked some blogs I liked and which I felt would answers my questions in a funny way, could use some love or I have really seen working hard on their blog in the past few weeks, you wont have seven years of bad luck or something for not doing it) Rule Number 2: Answer the 11 questions your nominator, that would be me, asked in your post. Rule Number 3 : Nominate 11 others bloggers and write up 11 new questions for them to answer. Rule Number 4: Notify the nominee by commenting about the nomination on one of their posts. (I linked recent posts of everyone so you get a notification rather than me going of topic in your comment box) Rule Number 5: Display the Sunshine Blogger logo and list the rules! Now for my questions, I made them a bit harder than your regular “what is your favorite” anime. Just to see what kind of folks you actually are . Have fun!
