Pinkie Plays: Moemon Emerald Extreme Randomiser Nuzlocke Episode 6: It’s Froppy!

Hello again my little Lights, welcome back to a new Installment of Moemon Emerald Extreme Randomiser Nuzlocke. After the silly death of Souji next week I am really hoping I can get through a week without losing Moe’s! We got a pretty good team right now as we slowly will make our way to Flannery. We will get a fair few number of encounters,but a lot of trainer battles.. and an egg as well!  So today anything might happen!

The Team

Ability: Wonder Guard (Can Only be hit by Super Effective Moves)

3th Murmur the Porygon 2 (Lvl 24)  Earthquake, Hyper Fang, Cut and Morning Sun
Ability: Poison Point (Can Poison when physically hit)
4th Ika-Chan the Tentacruel (Lvl 23)  Hydro Cannon, Hydro Pump, Bubble Rain Dance
Ability: Huge Power (Doubles Physical Attack)
5th Asuka the Fearow (Lvl 23) Sky Aerial Ace, Headbutt, Foresight, Milk Drink
Ability: Stench (Has a 10% Flinch Chance and encounters less wild Pokemon)
6th Hisoka the Mr. Mime (lvl 23) Heat Wave, Barrier, Light Screen, Pyscho Boost
Ability: Hustle (Physical moves are 50% more powerful but miss 20% of the time) 

Screams of Joy 

To continue our journey something has to learn Rock Smash.. will I take less Moe and Chi-Chi as a slave with me?!  Do I teach someone Rock Smash what I will do?!  Since Tentacruel has 3 water moves I decide to teach Ika-Chan  Rock Smash for now..it will be a useless move in combat.. but so is bubble right now.. and I really want to get everyone to their levels! The move deleter is pretty far away still .. but heck I might find a Kyogre Moe for me to catch anyone so let’s live a  little! And then it is encounter time! I think! Wait! I first need to get the HM for Strength in Verdanturf town! I encounter a few trainers but with an actually versatile team I don’t get. Hisoka learns Solar Beam.. because.. why not! I am not coming back to this town any time soon!  I decide to hold teaching strength for now but Murmur looks like she might be a HM slave! I do encounter a very cute Tsundere Granbull on my way back though! So it’s all worth it!

Time to head up North! Ika smashes some rocks and behind we find a journalist who wants to challenge me and interview me. Her camera man uses a Magikarp and she uses a Solrock and they are easily defeated. The next trainer has a single Celebi.. who falls to Asuka! I believed I could walk into the sandstorm a bit to get an encounter.. but apparently without the goggles I can’t even take a single step! I remember being able to walk here but it being a hassle without the goggles.. Maybe I have been hallucinating again!   Guess that happens from staring at all those Lava Lamps. Guess it is to route 112! This route has great memories for me! I found my first shiny ever here! A shiny Machop! What will my encounter be this time?! …EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! It’s a Bulbasaur! I need to  catch this! Sorry Murmur you will be booted off the team! I got my favourite starter! EEEEEEEEEE! It took me almost all my great balls but EEEEEEEEEE! Tme to skip some grinding and to add Froppy to my party!

Creepers!

After grinding Froppy has learned Strength (as she had no coverage and physical strength is mixed) she knows Giga Drain, Vine Whip and Synthesis.  Well actually he.. bit these are Moe so that’s debatable!  Next it is onto the Fiery Path to catch another Moe! What will it be.. will it be just as awesome?! It isn’t .. It’s an Onix.. that is not great ..but I did pick up a metal coat!  I name it Izumi and send it to the box for now!  I also get a static Rock Smash encounter .. A Magnemite that I call Yuhachigo.. it goes to the box as well!   But hey I have Moe in reserve now! Things are looking up for Pinkie!  Then we are on to the most confusing thing for a Pokémon Nuzlocke of these games! What looks like a new route is actually route 112 again! Hoenn has so much of these moments! Super confusing! 

I encountered a super strange Moe in the form of Lileep! I don’t even think it’s an anime girl! I am not sure what it is! I shared the picture with you! Tell me what you think it is! I know Ika-chan sure thought .. “I need to get the Distortion World out of here!” We beat the Lileep and some other trainers, before I discovered a house called Old Lady’s Rest Stop… Uhm…. is this a bathroom for old ladies?! No! This is a house where an old lady asks 10 year old girls to spend the night with her.. and keeps asking for you to stay over more! ….The heck is wrong with this world! I now get why Team Galactic wants to erase existence! This is NOT okay! I don’t know this old lady! Well let’s quickly move on! Rest my tiny bones?! It feels like she wants to collect them and build stuff with it or something! Creepy!

Next I encounter the weirdest trainer class I’ve ever seen.. Ghostwriter!  I never heard about it! I can’t even find info about it! The heck is going on in this area. a ghostwriter and a bone collecting lady!  I teach Ika-Chan Muddywater instead of Hydro Pump.. it is slightly more accurate and even though it is less powerful, the accuracy drop  is great. in Nuzlockes and it has a fair bit more PP which can be nice in stally battles! The next route is covered in Ash completely which doesn’t make the bone collector and the ghost writer less creepy! My encounter is a Venomoth .. which is okayish I guess! It is named Neppy and sent to the box! Now to get through this route! I remember normally disliking it because it has a lot of encounters popping up everywhere! I  see an item but I have to  get through a double battle to get it!  It actually has a Spinda, the thing you get too much on this route!

Through the Ashes

I decided to teach Usagi Night Shade, just so she has something else than electric moves to hit enemies with, it isn’t great but she hasn’t learned anything in over 20 levels of leveling! She needs something to deal with enemies as the electric type is resisted by a fair amount of my enemies! This fight turns out to be super scary though!  The trainer has an Armaldo that knows Destiny Bond.. a move that  kills you . .if you knock out the enemy that used it.. and Ika–Chan will definitely knock  them out!  Saving my baby Usagi chan, I decide to swap in  Asuka .. and she almost gets killed by a Rock Tomb. We scrape by but trigger another battle, which is witteling us down more and more!  The item I chased turns out to be a Fluffy Tail.. while that sounds cute.. it basically means you throw the tail of another creature in the battle.. so enemies attack it.. and you can run away.

Now I am running out of potions ..so I stop by a house hoping it’s another  bone collecting lady that allows me to rest.. but no .. this is a guy that is a glass blower.. he gives me a big bag to fill with Ash in order so he can make me glass tools! He huffs and puffs! .. Wait.. he is the Big Bad Wolf!!! EEEEEK!  Horror!  Well let’s collect come ash then if he ever attacks me I can throw it in his eyes!  I decide to lead Froppy since she is bulky and has plenty of moves to use! Maybe with that Moe I can reach the next town! I keep getting attacked by Ninjas though! Seriously what’s wrong with this world.. I mean they call themselves Botanists.. (again where can you find that trainer class?!)  but they clearly are ninja’s.. Chuunin though!

Everything goes a bit downhill after that. Miku gets burned, Ika-Chan gets paralysed, Usagi gets poisoned, Asuka is in red health,  and Hisoka gets hit by a Shadow Ball by A Magmar.. and puts on 2hp! We narrowly escaped death there!   As a result levels begin to grow a bit more skewed. Froppy is my strongest Moe now followed by Miku! I have to start using Repels more to make my way through this route!  We sneak by a few trainers and enter Fallarbor town! I heal everyone up and go back to finish off all the remaining trainers! I always feel compelled to do that!  A trainer class called “servant”  has A MAchoke that looks like she might be a Yare Yare Daze girl.. she also has a pretty sexy  Poliwrath.. well except for the boxing gloves!  

I then explore town a bit as I know there is a TM for Roar on a villager, as well as the move Dig.. these both get randomised. Roar gets randomised to… Roar… Eh?! Frizzle Sticks!  Dig gets randomised to Sketch! Son of a.. Skitty!  I have had the worst TM  luck!  I also decide to stock up on potions again! Since the store is randomised  I check for interesting items but there are none! Just some X items that boost a stat! They can be neat but with a Randomiser of moves they aren’t all that reliable for defence at least! So I decide to only use them if I pick them up from the ground. While investigating here I discover that some kind of professor  that has gone missing. Ah… you know you realise that PoliceMan is a trainer class right? Though with our luck they have been reclassed to Burglar.. or something obscure like “Bubble-Tea-Vendor or Something” .  So when you can’t count on the  police I guess you carry the 10 year with a bunch of magical girls! That actually makes a lot more sense now that I say it out loud! I am an immortal Moth after all!  Okay  guess I will be a good girl one more time .. but after that , no more chores! I am here to do the Pokémon League!

Pinkie Plays : Moemon Emerald Extreme Randomizer Nuzlocke (Episode 4) Errand Girl

Hello my Little Lights, I am back to playing Moemon Emerald, having lost Sakura last episode I have recovered well enough to brave the trails that come next with my magical girls?! How did Sakura die?! Well she fainted in the last episode during grinding .. and in a Nuzlocke when a Moe or Pokémon faints they are considered dead.  Read more details in the last episode! Which you can find at the bottom of this post! Today we are headed for Slateport  and hopefully all the way up until our next rival battle!  I haven’t played this in ages though.. so I am not sure what we will encounter! I do know our episode will start with a challenge on the beach!

The Battle of the Beach Club

The Boat arrives at the beach of Slateport, a beach that is littered with trainers! I am pretty sure I get an item if I beat all the trainers here…or at least I think so.. so I challenge the first sailor I see. He calls himself Fisher Marilyn, his first Moe is a Minun.. since I lead Asuka.. it immediatly is a harsh reminder of our loss. Sakura would be so good against this. Right now the best swap is to switch in Jigglypuff again! His second Moe is a Graveler which  means I swap in Souji.It goes off without a hitch.. but then I get ambushed by a girl hiding behind a Parasol and I end up in a double battle! It makes sure Asuka is double attacked and takes some heavy damage with Souj taking out a Wailord leaving a Hypno alive. I decided to let Asuka use a Milk Drink and then I realised I read it wrong. It’s actually Souji who took the damage.. luckily everything ends up okay. But… stupid as I am .. I stumble into another double battle!…Fuuuuuu. Souji levels up but Miku needs to save everyone again!  She isn’t leveling fast  though!

My team ends up being so hurt that I have to go heal in the Pokécenter.. on my way back I decide to visit the Moemon Trainer Fanclub… which is kinda creepy! One guy offers to teach me Flame Wheel and Asuka can learn it.. so she learns… .Aerial Ace.. Oh.. that is weird! I knew Moves were randomised but I did not know static moves were replaced as well! Oh well at least Aerial Ace is more reliable then Sky Attack. We easily wipe most of these teams because they are at a kind of wimpy level!  I really expected trainers to be a bit closer to the gym leader but oh well! It will get through fast enough I bet! The Tate and Liza leap later on is huge anyway! We defeat the cutest little Voltorb.. BAM! It’s dead now! I win every battle of the battle of the beach and win a case of Soda Pops.. that might seem like a lame prize.. but in a Nuzlocke.. this is a godsent!

Pirates of the CariHoenn .. At Chores End

I go to the shipyard to deliver the Devon Goods but it turns out that the guy whom I have to give the package too is at another location and this guy that tells me also tasks me with delivering the parcel to this new location! …. So let me get this right! .. I SAVE your goods.. then as a reward you gave me a cheap cellphone.. then force me to go on a boat with an old guy  drooling over little girls… and I AM!!! A little girl! Then you make me deliver a parcel…but also force me to deliver a LETTER as an extra stop that forces me to venture to a Moe filled cave.. including insanely powerful ones like several Mewtwo and Moltres..then when I get the package on the location.. you ask me to go out of my way and find the guy in a museum or something?!  And I have to pay my own entry fee?! Jeesz .. no deed goes unpunished I guess! Reluctantly I head out.

Once I enter the Museum I see it’s taken over by an evil team….HOW HORRIBLE are the people in the pokémon world actually! The Museum attendants could have told me.. hey kid.. there is like a hoard of pirates here.. you might want to come back later… or HELP US an evil team is everywhere you are a trainer perhaps you can help us come in for free! But Nooooo Pinkie has to pay! Frick! How rude! The team seems to be quite nice though! The guy I beat earlier even gives me a move.. I wonder what it is! ….Sonic Boom! Huh! I am not having any luck there.. I am not using the two letter term because google docs shrinks it down to a trademark logo. So yeah! Sonic Boom only and always deals 20 damage.. but in a randomiser with full evolutions everywhere this move is worthless.. the only one who could use it was Sakura. Sniff.. I miss Sakura!

As soon as I go up the second floor of the Museum things change though! Team Aqua attacks as I want to give Mister Stern his stupid package.. now they want to take the items and since Stern doesn’t have any Pokémon on him.. I have to stop them!  I better get another reward for this! The Aqua Grunts are easy, but they are catching up in level very fast! They already use level 15’s.. then Archie the Pirate leader shows up and asks me if I am part of Team Magma.. What is a TEAM Magma?!  Why would they accept a 10 year old in their ranks! I fully expect to fight Archie as I am pretty sure I will fight Maxie in the Museum in Pokémon ORAS ..  but no Archie just bails. Finally something went my way.. time to get my reward…. a thank you from professor Stern.

I stomp outside and am greeted by a weird person named Scott! Scott wants to be my friend! He says he wants to follow me around… Scott is a grown man .. asking a 10 year old girl to follow her around! The HECK is wrong with the Pokémon World.. I mean sure I made the world a bit creepier by turning Pokémon into little girls.. but even then, people really take advantage of Children here! I guess it is time to go up North and find fame and fortune for myself! I stock up on a few super potions, and status healing items as well as five great balls!  Then it is time to leave this harbor town! Scott comes out of the battle tent and tells me if I want to try it! No.. I do not! It’s not that I don’t find it fun.. but it doesn’t do anything for the Nuzlocke and I can follow the rules there! So I am skipping it!

BrENDan

Encounter-Encounter-Encounter! I get a new Encounter!  I dive in the grass right away!  To find out what it is! I have a few great balls so catching should go smooth if I lead Miku! Using Flail she will not oneshot anything! Big Brain plays! It turns out to be a Tentacruel.. which is not bad. I name it Ika-Chan but decide to leave it boxed right now. Tentacruel is a bit of a tank and with Jigglypuff on my team I do not have a need for that role as for now!  Corphish will be a physical attacker when it evolves (if it would learn physical moves)  which is a much more needed thing in my team as Usagi and C.C are very much special oriented. Murmur right now is a physical attacker but her specialty will veer of into special.. She might get booted off the team if I get a better Earthquake user. 

As I move one a fat guy ask me if I have seen his son.. I tell him I haven’t and that I do not like to travel with boys! He acts surprised but says it is okay..giving me his phone number.. Okay thank you professor!  Let’s move on! I decided to hunt for items first on route 103 and I will briefly visit trick masters house as well. I want the items! They can be valuable! Asuka struggles in her fights.. but she manages to reach level 20 and evolves! She kind of likes pretty now! On Route 103 I also encounter a Lax Incense, an item that allows attacks to miss one of my Pokémon more often! I give it to Usagi! She is my dearest baby after all! Any attack she can avoid will be great! Miku now gets the Amulet coin! Trick Masters house is a puzzle house in the game that allows you to use your HM’s to solve puzzles.. a few good items are hidden in there… which for me now got randomised to berries. Everyone except for CC reaches level 20 with Miku and Usagi even reaching level 21.  The only one learning a good move is Murmur who learns Hyper Fang instead of Vice Grip!

Time to move up route 110 and fight my Rival! Brendan who likes to be called Bug Catcher Tia this time around .. is known to be the weakest rival in all of  the games and should be super easy…NORMALLY…  The first match is Gardevoir versus Primeape!  Okay That one I will easily beat.. but his Pokémon is level 18 already so it’s up to par with my team!.. Gardevoir should outspeed Primeape.. but it has Huge Power  and Starts with Protect.. I C.C. Should be able to live a fighting move from PrimeApe she is quad resistant..to fighting after all.. This wasn’t right! In this game Gardevoir is just a Psychic type.. it would not have mattered though.. Gardevoir  is killed by a critical hit after missing her own move.. Darn I was getting quite attached to C.C. .. this is a problem.. Primeape can kill Jigglypuff as well…

The only Pokémon that might kill it is Fearow.. IF it doesn’t outspeed me.  It does.. but Primeape goes for Focus Energy .. Aerial Ace is Super effective and finishes it off! Baltoy comes out.. and is easily finished off with Octazooka from Souji! My heart drops when I see Brendan’s last Pokémon…crabcakes.. he has a Lugia! Please don’t have Focus Blast! Miku I choose you! Lugia had Psycho Boost.. if I would have not had Miku.. I might have lost here! Lugia gets Crushed by Crushclaw… but I get Crushed by the loss of C.C.

C.C. was given a viking funeral on route 10. I asked Asuka to set her boat on fire with a Flame Wheel.. but since it was changed to Aerial Ace her boat was whipped away on the wings of friendship! As her body disappeared on the horizon, I noticed my heart already began to harden a little bit.. this death hurt less than Sakura’s… this journey would change me!  I already began to wonder if we should use Ika-Chan on the team.. but doing that would make my team EXTREMELY weak to most types. It will also be a hassle to grind her up! So we will wait until we get to Mauville!  Check out our encounters in that area near the daycare. That will determine if we will continue our journey with hope…or Despair.. but that is a tale for the next episode.

Pinkie Plays: Moemon Emerald Extreme Randomiser Nuzlocke (Part 1) The Amazing Starter

Greetings little lights in my life, my first actual content post as a Virtual Blogger and Kaijuman is of course… a Pokémon post….kind off! I started a Nuzlocke when I was still a mortal, but I played so far ahead of my writing that I kind of forgot what happened! So this time I will write along as I play! …  This time the cute animals will be replaced by cute girls!  As we start our very own Moemon Emerald Extreme Randomizer Nuzlocke.

What is A Nuzlocke!

Here we go again! A nuzlocke is a mode in Pokémon where you can only catch the first Pokémon you encounter each route! A Pokémon that faints in battle is considered dead and you HAVE to give it a nickname so you get more attached to it! In our version we will play a randomised hack of a Pokémon game I own.. but yet it will be played on an Emulator.
All Pokémon have been “randomised” so that means if I would normally find a Pidgey.. I might encounter a Mewtwo now instead. Or vice versa. Items, trainer names , abilities and movesets all have been completely changed..though Pokémon will be biased to learn moves of their respective typing.  There will be a few additional rules such as.. if I encounter a Pokémon I already have, I can catch another and my own special rule.. if I HATCH a duplicate.. that specific Moe gets an extra life.  Since this Rom does not have sprites for all Moe’s if I encounter a regular Pokémon instead of a Moe.. it doesn’t count as an encounter, they can still kill my girls though!

Minor rules include me having protection from wipes by Dragon Rage, before the second gym and a lot of other circumstantial stuff that I will bring up when we get there. The point is , this offers a bit of extra challenge to a Pokémon game. For challenge reasons I can’t grind to be stronger than the Gym Leaders Ace either.. because on emulators I could just speed up and wash everything after grinding… What enforces me to keep these rules in a written report of this?! Nothing! You will just have to trust me! … The trainer will be named Pinkie like always.. and the Nuzlocke ends after completing the Pokémon League, or after a full team if six wipes! No need to defeat Steven End Game… (as it would probably would involve a lot of grinding) with that  It is time to see how our adventure will go!  Professor Birch greets me and shows me that this.. is a Pokémon.

The Start of my Journey… 

For some strange reason mom in this game has stuffed me in the back of a moving truck and forced me to travel with the boxes like a piece of trash while she got there in another way! A lot of non Moe looking monsters are busy carrying some boxes but at least she got the tv running! … Great priorities mom!  The Mom in Gold at least helped me with my journey… you give me a room.. then kick me out of the house to go play with that creepy neighbour kid Brendan who  puts his balls beside his bed!  … I touch his balls .. and then he decides to show up! He must have been in the bathroom or something he asks me who I am and then realises I must be Pinkie… I really wonder how long Mom has already been here that she would talk about me already! But sure I say hi to the guy! He did not know I was a girl… Darn those stupid Animaniacs! They made my name Gender-Ambiguous! Brendan says he is going to help his father catch some pokémon before he starts playing on his computer. This is a 10 year old who already has a double bed.. so that can’t be good so I book it out of there!

I walk outside when I hear a middle aged man scream! He is being chased by a Zigzagoon Girl.. he tells me the only way to fight her is grab his balls and pull another girl out of them..So I can pick one.. one girl Onix.. is a solid pick.. but since Onix has lower attack than an Oddish it isn’t amazing. Unown is the second Moe girl and we can clearly skip her.. the Third one… Holy Heck It is Jigglypuff!  Yes She’s my girl!  I choose her and see that instead of Sing and Defence Curl.. I think she actually has a Crush Claw great move that does damage based on HP stat. So It is time to attack the Zigzagoon girl and kill it! It turns out I got super duper LUCKY… not only does my Jigglypuff have one of the strongest normal type moves in the game! She has the strongest ability in the game! Wonder Guard.  Which means she can not be hit by ANYTHING except super effective moves.. and since she is a normal type.. that means she can ONLY be hit by Fighting type moves!  Now this is still a randomiser so several Pokémon can pack fighting type moves.. but for now it is a great start. Since she is basically untouchable and she sings! I decided to call my Moe.. Miku!

Gathering More Moe

Now that i have an absolutely broken Starter .. I have confidence that this run will be truely amazing! With Wonder Guard up I zoom across the map to fight Brendan..  who has a Blissey… it can’t touch me and I level up three times! We go back to our town that is filled with puddles for no real reason other than to show a neat graphics thing and I get Pokéballs. I move back to the route and prepare for my first encounter! It is a Porygon 2! Another Pink Moe AND another normal type! This one carries the move Earthquake and Vicegrip so it is another Power house.. since Miku can’t be touched.. it isn’t that hard to bring this one down to catching range.. It got a bit scary for a bit since it has poison points .. which CAN hurt my little darling.. but I lived and added Porygon 2 to my team. I name it MurMur because she has the number two written on her forehead.. I grind her up to level 5 switch training her with the immortal ghost of Miku and it is time for our second AND third encounters in rapid succession!


I should have played the lottery today because my Route 103 encounter is…. A Slowpoke! Another Pink Moe! I named it Umaru for obvious reasons!  And Decide to level it up to level 5 as well to get ready for my route 102 encounter! I am running low on Pokéballs, and there aren’t that many pink Pokémon left for me to add to my team!  On Route 102 I however encounter.. a Slowbro! Another Pink Moe! But this one counts as a dupes clause. I already have this Pokémon.. at least it’s an evolution line so it means I can skip it! 

Since I would prefer to evolve it myself, I decide to let it go and go hunt for another monster. Well or another girl.. so my Harem.. is passing on Slowbro..as I will get her later!  My new first encounter is a Raichu.. which I capture fairly easily. I decided to name it Usagi as it was the only blonde twin tailed girl I could think of that fitted in an 8 letter limit! I discover Umaru has Luster Purge.. which is a legendary move reserved for Latios and Usagi Carries Thunderpunch and Shockwave! Which both are great moves as well! It is time to go visit my dad! While restocking Pokéballs I discover they sell a Moonstone in this Pokémon Center as I randomised items and the first one has ALL the evolutionary items..but I decide that Jigglypuff will never evolve!  Because it will lose its ability! I just hope it will learn some set up moves to power up it’s punches!

Hi Dad! Thanks for letting this weird Astma Kid have a Pokémon instead of me!

Now it is time for some trainers, the first one has a Torchic which Murmur makes mince meat off.. I am not sure if she would like chicken ..or of humans.. but she is dead anyway because remember this is a Nuzlocke.. what faints is dead!  The second trainer has an adorable Shellder which I quickly turn into Shell Dead and things seem to be going smooth! I am also enjoying journalling like this as I play the game so yay for the Virtual Blogger Lifestyle choices working out so far! The bug catcher dude got renamed to manager Scott.. and after the Clam Moe has been defeated … he sounds out a Meganium..which can most definitely one shot Umura and even Usagi the Cryshu.. because Meganium turns out to have Solarbeam! Luckily we can safely swap to Miku the Jigglypuff who is immune thanks to Wonder Guard.. she finishes off the Meganium and I stroll on with my little girls.

In the next battle we get a bit of a magical girl showdown when Usagi faces a Staryu! Usagi has a good cry first but then uses Spark to attack the Staryu turning this magical girl story more in a Madoka scenario!  Victory is obtained once again and we begin to rake in money! Since I fight rarely with high XP giving Pokémon as well, leveling is also going smooth! It is really nice to start a nuzlocke like this normally it is stress and terror and this feels like a leisurely stroll! I encounter a pretty slutty Umbreon and after I scold it for a bit for dress kind of like a hussy .. I decided it is better to put this girl out of her misery! She belonged to a trainer after all! The last one before I move to Petalburg where I encounter my father, who tells me I am not strong enough to face his gym yet… which is true..but I could do it if Jigglypuff had Toxic as a move.. but regardless he chores me with going with Wally to find him a Pokémon .. one forced tutorial later I  am back at my dads and I can move onto the next town and towards the first gym.. trough Petalburg woods.. Wally caught a Barboach by the way!

The Stress begins!

Route 104 lets me pick up a Rhyhorn which I name Sakura. You know the buff chick from Danganronpa they do look a bit alike! I do think I got the short end of the stick on this route a bit.. I do really like Rhydon but there was also an Altaria or Chicorita.. I would have really liked to pick up one of those two! Still Rhyhorn is pretty neat! It’s static ability that allows to paralyse opponents is a bit lackluster on her.. but it’s not bad! I defeat Technician Jo.. who is walking a dress and sunhat.. quite easily but I realise that  Sakura will have trouble hitting bird Pokémon it also is super weak to both grass and water and since I can’t tell which Pokémon has these types of moves.. I don’t think she will last all that long before falling victim to a misplay of mine.. I do need to level her so she is at risk! During the first fight in the Petalburg Woods we encounter a trainer that has an Electrode.. which is ADORABLE! I want one!

Hoping I might encounter it in the Forest I ready myself to capture another adorable girl! The Pokémon I found is Muk however.. which is a Pokémon I do enjoy but I also know it has a bit of a trickier catch rate. This one is not easily caught in A pokéball! Indeed the Muk refuses to go along and thus we fail our Petalburg Woods encounter and now I have to traverse these dangerous woods with one team member less than I could have had.. which makes catching the next encounter harder as well.. at the rate my Pokémon grow.. they might be a bit overleveled when we come out the forest. Distributing levels seems key here so everyone.. except for Jigglypuff is at risk! I decided to lead Umaru the Slowpoke because it feels lucky! I guess my amazing trainer instincts were right as the first team Aqua encounter has a Diglett! It is level 9 though! I am already underleveled here! I expected it to happen before the first gym but this is really fast! The grunt gets defeated without any casualties though but now I have to lead Sakura! I forgot to do this and Umaru immediately gets poisoned! I forgot poison kills are still in this Generation… Oh oh.. now I have to rush back.. wasting two of my five extremely scarce potions I get Umaru to the hospital safely! I need to buy some antidotes here! Back in the woods I immediately encounter a poisonous Pidgeot.. which poisons Sakura.. to early in the woods to use my item I need to head back again! Wasting two more Potions! Only one left.. and no more money! 

Luckily my next forest trip goes without much trouble! A Rich boy challenges me with a Psyduck.. So confidently I swap in Usagi the Raichu.. who gets hyper-beamed in the face.. she survives but she looks pretty battle damaged! She cries of course! I still have a few trainer fights to go and only one potion that now I have to use on Usagi! Things turned around fast for me here! It only gets worse when my first double battle.. which are the scariest things in such a Randomiser sends in a Mewtwo… these are two four year old girls.. how did they get that! Luckily.. he just meditated!  I swapped in Miku to be safe and she levels to 11.. with the rest of the party being at around level 9 or 10 ! We are almost there.. almost to the first gym city Rustboro! Just one more trainer to go! It is a fisherman sprite he claims to be a Water Pokémon trainer but leads with Torkoal.. out of sheer instinct I put Usagi first and she does manage to oneshot the turtle girl..  his other two Pokémon Starmie and Slowking are indeed Water Pokémon so Usagi punished them in the name of me!  Without casualties we have reached the first city.. where a lot of crime and the first gym awaits! But that is a story for next time!

With that I conclude my first let’s play blog! It was great fun to actually write as I play so I will do this with a few other games as well in the near future! I got plenty of things I want to try and expect this series to show up fairly regularly so it will be easy to follow! Animini: Samurai Flamenco – Episode 21 – Teaching Love

Noooooooooo Moe-chaaaaan! Please be safe! Stupid Hajii deserves to die for what he did to you my sweet blue spring flower!  He even scared me out of my Steampunk outfit because I am so worried about you! .. Where last week I nearly dropped the show.. two episodes before the end of the show, which shows up how messed up it was,  this week I absolutely am blown away…but if they make Masayoshi the actual villain here.. this entire review is null and void! In  fact.. if they go the stupid route.. this might be the first post I will ever delete.

The Summary

Episode 21 begins at Masayoshi’s hotel, we see him contemplate killing himself so that Hajii stops. He now seems a bit more certain that the boy is not in his brain.. but if there is no one for him to torment his friends are safe. He calls Mari and  warns her about Hajii. Mari does not seem worried but asks about Goto and if they have made up again.. this  does not happen. Too worried about her love interest and not happy about him missing his friend she misses the time to drink her coffee and they have to go on stage. Mizuki and Moe collapse.. their eyes totally white.. big foam on their lips.. my heart drops and I am about to chuck my laptop out of the window.. No one hurts my Moe! Luckily the pair seems to have survived.. their stomachs get pumped and now we have to wait and see.. and no it isn’t resolved this episode so I am not sure of my darlings fate! While Masayoshi watches the news report about the attack on MMM in relative silence.. he gets a call from the hospital. Joji is finally awake and he wishes to talk to Masayoshi.

Masayoshi and him have a heart to heart and the Mentor tells his pupil he saw the boy just before he got hit by the truck..He said to him “Give Samurai Flamenco my regards”. Thank you show! At least you have given him a distraction. Jojii tells Masayoshi to find out about love as it is the only way to defeat this foe. However Masayoshi being obsessed with being a hero has never known or experienced love.. or so he thinks. He doesn’t understand what love is. Here I am a bit afraid that Jojii wanted to speak to Masayoshi and say he saw him.. and that if he finds love in his heart he can stop doing terrible things.. but I really hope it is my over imaginative mind. Masayoshi talks to his agent who gives him a nice speech about love and gives us their cutest interaction yet.. I finally like her as a character a bit.. then she goes back to Tsundere all over Kono again and the admiration drops a bit again. Meanwhile Goto loses his phone at work.. he  finds a new one on the spot where his old one would be and gets a text from his girlfriend.. which turns out to be Hajii. Goto gets captured..which makes me afraid it is Masayoshi beating him.. because a young kid might not be able to do it.. although  there is a taser. The two talk about Hajii wanting to evolve Samurai Flamenco.. he pulls out a gun on Goto.. tells him he will see him tomorrow aims .. and pulls the trigger. The screen goes black in a huge cliffhanger.

The Positives

These positives only apply if Masayoshi doesn’t turn out to be the bad guy.. but I really like it how this episode actually steers away from that idea!  I don’t mind AS much if Masayoshi imagined the entire thing and the show ends with the guy from the first episode having knocked his lights out or something… but making him the bad guy would kill the show for me.  So I do like that at least it SEEMS like Red Axe saw the guy as well.. it at least seems like Goto is captured by an actual guy and it seems unlikely that Masayoshi would steal Goto’s phone.. then replace it.. use the spelling of his probably dead girlfriend , then imagine himself being called with Goto’s phone to be baited for a final showdown.. that seems a bit much!  So if we judge it as an actual chain of events.. like I said last episode! I do like the Joker vibes.. from Haijii, I do like that I am super eager to find out what happend at the cliffhanger and I am more than eager to explore more!  i even like the idea that Masayoshi must learn to love to break that Super Hero cycle.. or a rivalry would never end.. that feels like a clever take on the genre. I like how they went with a concept where everyone is at danger.. so no matter who your favourite character in the show is.. you have stakes in this last episode. I must see that my Moe is safe.. and some might have to see if Goto survived. Others might have to check what the super angry Mari will do.

I weirdly kinda like that they left the door open to that stupid shitty ending that I really do not want to see. Goto never says “I should have believed him”  , Jojii never confirms he saw Haji just that he  saw who was standing behind him. It leaves options open.. but the same goes for Hajii being rule.. one might wonder how an 11 year old or however old he is survived by himself out there.. but right after his funeral his parents went missing, perhaps he killed them and took their money, perhaps they support his crazy goal someway somehow.. and went along with it out of their blind love. If Masayoshi is the one that poisoned Moe and Mizumi and pushed Kanede under a truck the show will be ruined for me.. because I feel it goes completely against the spirit of the show.. but at least I have a stake in this final episode. Kind of like seeing your favourite V-Tuber play russian roulette or something and if they fail.. they delete their channel. You will not like it if it goes bad.. but you sure have to be there to see that it doesn’t. I really want to watch this final episode badly!

The Negatives

I really felt nervous this episode and that is a super good thing, so my negatives are mostly hypothetical.. and I will not include those, but yes this was an amazing episode. I felt super engaged and excited so there is very little for me to complain about. However there was one scene that did not make ANY sense to me. At one point Lady Axe in the hospital waiting room asks if Green considered her offer to adopt him.. which he declines, Blue then gets upset and asks why he isn’t getting adopted and the answer he gets is.. You are too dumb.
Meanwhile Lady-Axe yells some petty things against Pink who suddenly holds a pair of divorce papers in her face. What the heck is up with that scene. If Masayoshi isn’t imagining what happens in the other room there.. this is just a really stupid scene. So either this is a very poor written scene or a sign on the wall that I will get a bad ending.. so it’s a negative alright.

There is also a lot of bad animation in this episode. Drawings that seem over-simplistic. Mostly around the hospital time. As long as a single character is in shot or two of them are in close up it is fine.. but if there are two or more full bodies it really shows in the animation. While I do not care for animation particularly this one feels so incidental and “not part of the same episode” as the rest that it REALLY took me out of the scene. When you look at the MMM concert you see a lot of love went into those shots. The shot from Mari laying there on the floor foaming from the mouth .. still haunts me.. and that scene in the ending with Hajii in Masyoshi’s apartment was done nice as well .. I truly felt the wind around that place. So it really felt as if the hospital bit did not matter.  I am also kind of upset that Masayoshi did not visit Moe and Mizumi.. they helped him out on numerous occasions. The lackluster animation kind of carries over in the scene with Masayoshi being thought about love from his agent.. but not as bad.  I don’t mind an episode with bad animation that much I guess.. I mind more when it’s fluctuating. It feels as if some parts lack love.

The Score 

I adored this episode.. like it really is on Star Fruit level for me.. I was super invested, super entertained and besides that one throw away scene I really love what happened here.  It was really good! Yet because the previous episode was SO bad .. I can’t fully enjoy it until I have seen the last episode! I will most likely not be able to wait a week before I watch this…. but never had a show been this high stakes going into the final episodes and it’s weirdly fantastical. I will either laugh or cry when it’s over.. maybe even both. 

Knowing this show the final episode will be yet another surprise for me.. so the two endings I suspect to happen will probably not even come to pass .. but  it has been a wild ride.. I am left with one big leap.. it is a scary one.. it can ruin a show I hold very dear..or it can make it even sweeter. This episode gave me hope again! Lots of it!  Yet the show has also run its course it’s time for this to end.. but as a ramp up to the finale this is one of the best episodes a girl can wish for!

Pokémon can be Anime Girls too!

In my previous blog I tried I tried to add some depth to this blog by telling you about my beliefs and go a bit philosophical. Since I aim to mostly be kawaii and endearing though I gotta bring some cuteness to this place as well. Hopefully this title already drew you in .. because it is absolutely true! Pokémon can be anime girls too! The fusion between these things is a phenomenon called Moemon!

Welcome to the wonderful world of rom-hacking, where goku can be in a pokémon game! For many years people have added their favorite things into the world of pokémon! Like candies, memes and fusions. Yet of course only the most briljant of minds have come up with the ultimate idea. We made guns and warships into anime girls, we made soda cans into anime girls and even bowser. If we can try to wrinkle our sheets with Soda surely some underaged pokémon cosplayers should be possible right?! YES!

In the world of Moemon you catch little girls in your balls and command them to do whatever you want. I am sure this idea will please some of my readers but me myself I mostly like it because it is super cute. All the girls have adorable outfits and it is just a treat to find your new cute anime girls and make them do battle. There is something about a cute maid girl using rest that I just find much more charming than an actual Snorlax using it. Also my brain works over time. What if Ash got a Moe instead of regular Pikachu? Some scenes clearly would have to be rewritten. The ketchup thing would hold up nicely though! Bye Bye Butterfree would suddenly have some clear Yuri implications so I do see this show really working!

Now Moemon is not just a pokémon fan game it’s a phenomenon a series of hacks that still get better and regularly receive updates. The most complete version you can play and the most commonly found around the web is the Fire-Red rom hack. In this day and age it has added new moves, it added the fairy typing (which only existed after Kalos.. thus not in most playable rom hacks)  and even adds some Mega evolution Moe to the mix. Kawaii! However this is also the only one that is currently not optimised for randomisation. For those who don’t know what I mean.. there are little programs you download that reshuffle your pokédex order in some shape way or form so you don’t always have to pick from Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander in the beginning, it might be randomised to anything.

It can also randomise, field encounters, static encounters and even pokemon trainers use…as well as items , trainer names, their sprites and more So who knows.. instead of a pidgey you might encounter a Mewtwo. You just run a rom through your randomiser, pick some settings you like and ponf! It spits out a new rom! For the moe surprise effect I really would recommend playing a randomised version.

Luckily Moemon is also available for Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon Heartgold and Pokémon Emerald. These can be randomised for the most crazy shoujo experience you ever had. I might do a Emerald Randomiser Moemon Nuzlocke slow blog at one point if you people would be up for it! I really don’t want to walk across Kanto anymore for a while. Johto or Hoenn I would be fine with! Unfortunately these games are not that easy to download. It requires patching some roms fiddling with emulators and applying a randomiser yourself. It’s all fairly easy stuff but you need some help of our good friend google to actually get it right. I am really terrible with these kinds of things for some reason so if I ever do that let’s play thingy don’t shoot me if something completely glitches out!

MOEMON ADVANCED

Unfortunately Moemon .. as for right now at least, is not a lot more than a sprite swap. Which means that the story is exactly the same as in the original games. Moe’s are still referred to as Pokémon and no dialogue or trainer models have been replaced.  While the fire red version has received modern updates and features the fairy typing , altered stats , mega evolutions and the likes you still fight Giovanni and Lance.. and of course that guy with the really good knows that always keeps smelling you later.

Trough yet another mod you can install onto the game you can replace Moe Umbreon and Moe Espeon by Moe versions of Glaceon and Sylveon respectively that is where the changes end. I would love to see a game that features Moe in the story and perhaps a certified trainer sprite. Instead of Giovanni maybe we can fight Brock.. who has plans to …. well everyone who saw a few episodes of the series can fill this in.  You know I would like a Moemon world.

That being said however there is still plenty to love when just playing for the sprites. They are all so cute and there has gone a lot of effort and work into these.  Which is why I vastly prefer to play Emerald or Heart Gold.. . there are more Moe’s to catch and with the randomiser you never know what will show up where. Lapras on the starting route? Pidgey on Steven’s team.. depending on how you randomise it can all happen in a bonkers little adventure that has never looked cuter. The Moe’s all look soooooo good. I haven’t encountered a single ugly one! Now I kind of would like to play Heartgold Moe because there is even more monsters for me to find but it is the hardest one to mod! Not sure if I will be able to make it work!

Diamond-Senpai and Pearl-Chan

Moemon is a passion project and it shows from how many versions there actually are. Most games have their own separate sprites for their Moe’s so maybe the Charizard from Heart Gold is just a bit more tsun looking while the one in Fire Red might be more adorable. It shows the gargantuan amount of work that went into this project and makes it fun to play all the games because everything is their own thing.

Sprites are improved upon, so the next time you return to the same game it might look different as well. It has a fairly healthy, or at least alive, community. They keep creators keep plenty of variety in their moes as well. Of course the basic and stage 1 moemon look younger than a stage 2 as it should be and overall you can really feel the hard work  of everyone involved.

While Moemon might not be the most interesting Romhack in terms of gameplay it at least knows how to not mess with a classic. The games are the original so they are nice and easy and you can breeze through without too much trouble. Which is perfect for a game about Moe girls pretending to be pokémon. We don’t really care about the gameplay of those lewdable ship games either, so this should not be an exception either. It’s about cuteness and great pixel art.

It’s about how Pokémon can be cute girls too .. instead of flower-frogs or sleeping bear like things. Snorlax can now choose to be a nun!  So many of these sprites are such nice and lovely designs and I want to cosplay them all! Unfortunately as a dutchie I am fairly tall so I need to find a way to shrink myself down first. Anyway I am sure to embark on a journey with Pika-Kun and Voir-Senpai soon! I do hope i can share this journey with you but whatever you do .. never lewd MY moes!
