Pink-Poké-News: Week 38

Finally there has been a week where  Pokémon has become newsworthy again. This means this reporter can finally earn her imaginary money again. It’s still no real money but at least it’s something! With that being said it is time for a new installment of Pink-Poké-News

Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go has shown a lot of interaction with the community lately, asking to see our shiny captures from last weeks Turtwig hunt, and as per this week asking them who their favorite new starter is. That’s right NEW starter. A bunch of Unova pokémon have been released into the wilds, with pokémon like Lillipup and Patrat (your respective rattata-likes) already coming in their shiny form as well. Like with Sinnoh not all generation V pokémon will be released at the same time, but it’s neat to see some new faces and see them pop up fairly regular, without being to spammingly present. The launch of the unova pokémon has been done fairly well and made the hunt a lot more fun again. A big improvement from the shadow pokémon duplicates.

It has also been announced that Flygon and it’s pre-evolutions Trapinch and Vibrava will be the subject of that weeks hunt. Like always will a fully evolved pokémon get a exclusive event move and lures will last three hours. Capture xp will also pay out threefold  , which is a bit lackluster given that we are high level already and would need to capture a billion trapinch to gain a level. As far as design is concerned both shin trapinch and vibrava are quite solid with trapinch becoming a alolan grimer green shade while vibrava goes to a fall like pallet of orange red and yellow. Shiny Flygon however looks quite horrible. Having it’s red outlining replaced with a bright cyan one.. but it’s red eyes and red details replaced by a mustardy yellow and it’s main body going just a shade darker it is not exactly pretty. Unlike some shinies we’ve seen it’s noticeable at least…but it’s not our favorite by far. Regular Flygon looks so much better, this one looks kinda like it’s cousin that still believes it lives in the 90’s. Luckily this week Shiny Yanma and Yanmega launched as well, though hard to get shiny Yanmega looks dropdead gorgeous.

Champion Ash

Around the time that this post goes live we will reach the conclusion of Sun and Moon series, with only a goodbye or so remaining in the last episode, depending on how they will pace this last stand off.  We saw Ash take the big trophy and win his first pokéleague. The last week the PPN crew had great fun watching this little news topic blow up way beyond its proportions. The news reached several “actual’ news sites, became a hot topic on twitter and inspired a wave of memes. The community lived up again, even those who only were there just to witness the first generation, which was quite beautiful to behold. Even if people grew out of Ash, he became a symbol people still rooted for after twenty two years of losing.. and dying. It was nice to see so many people fondly reminisce about a boy that has brought some great television into their life and was clearly an icon.  With how beloved he has proven to be, this would seem like the best send of the character could ever have so we do hope he retires but at the time of speaking it remains to be seen what happens. In this reporter’s post earlier this week we go into depth about the topic and talk about what we want to see in the future.

New Masters in Masters

Pokémon Masters is releasing micro events on a fairly regular basis keeping it nice and active with lots of people to interact with and new trainers to be done. The so called EX-battles which can be considered the games post game content are being regularly replaced and we have gotten three trainer highlight banners so far. We first started with Blue , the rival of Pokémon Red and Blue series, after which we moved to Olivia, the second Kahuna you’ll have to face off against in Pokémon Sun and Moon and their Ultra Counterparts.  This week it was time for Lyra, the female version protagonist of Pokémon Heartgold and Soulsilver. She is not to be mistaken for Kris, the protagonist of Pokémon Crystal, which is set in the original Gold and Silver universe. Kris IS on the banner however. Where Kris signature pokémon is Totodile, Lyra comes with Chikorita which is kind off a shame. We get Rosa , the five star grass protagonist of Black and White 2 as a freebie and Brendan the male protagonist from Ruby and Sapphire has his Treecko, which means we already have 3 grass type five stars and we maybe just have 10 five stars in total. If even. (Hard to tell with alternating banners) Which does seem kind of unbalanced. So while Lyra is cute as a button, I would recommend not going to deep moneywise into this banner because while she is nice to collect, I’d rather see some diversity in my teams.

Sirfetch’D

We were exactly right… well 90% right. Sirfetch’D is real! Earlier we talked about a weird glitch appearing on the pokémon website. Like many people I theorised it was Sirfetch’D but I also made some diagrams to show me how I felt it would actually look like! And I was very right! Not only did we complete the correct pokédex sentence, we also managed to deduce how it would function. The only thing we had wrong was the suit of armor. Sirfetch’d is white in colour, so we will assume galarian farfetch’d  is as well. What we mistook for his armor was just his pristine white skin. A white knight rather than a knight in shiny armor. We are quite happy with the announcement made as the pokémon looks quite amazing. It is kind of weird why the pokémon is completely a fighting type.. but since it’s leek sword is so important it makes sense he can not fly with it and will not fly without it. Sirfetch’d ability will be steadfast which will boosts the speed stat everytime the pokémon gets flinched. Depending on the physical defence stat of this pokémon this could make him decent enough in the competitive scene as a speedy physical wall or sweeper.

It’s animations in camp look quite fun and overall we do think it’s a nice evolution for a pokémon who thoroughly deserved to have one. Yet be warned because Sirfetch’D is a pokémon Sword Exclusive. That means you will not be able to catch it if you purchase pokémon Shield, of course you can still trade it but if you want to get the duck nice and easy you’ll have to go with the Sword game. This most likely does mean that Pokémon Shield will have a Galarian evolution to call it’s own. Based on our sources, our bet will go out to Galarian Meowth and Galarian Persian. Let’s see if we will be right again.

Question to my Readers:

What do you think of Sirfetch’D

Pikachu is ready for fall

With the seasons changing it’s going to be fall for Pikachu soon, as it like me is a northern hemisphere creature. To celebrate this the Pokémon Centers across the world.. not sure if there are any on the southern half of the world, will have a new figure in their collection. The so called Surprise Fall Pikachu.

It’s not a great figure by any means. It’s readability is really poor and people I show this one too either see it as a Pikachu that got covered in a pumpkin, or a Pikachu under a pizza blanket and one friend thought it was Pikachu melting with the orange being it’s skin and blood mixing, yes I have some messed up friends. Another saw Pikachu covered in mustard and ketchup.. but non really saw Pikachu covered in leafs until they looked at the background for context. That’s a bad thing in my opinion While I do not mind people not knowing who Chibi Moon is and saying.. that’s a weird pose I do actually dislike them saying … Oh dear! What the F happened to Pikachu?! The figure is produced by Funko and features a little Pumpkaboo either, which makes that smashed pumpkin read even more credible. Pikachu also hit the news last week in a more literal away as he ‘hosted’ the ABC-News weather along side Ginger Zee. Apparently the weather segment was being sponsored by Pokémon Go in the wake of the Unova Pokémon release.

While Ginger tells us a bit about Snivy being spotted in the forests we see a Pikachu standing in the studio with her. Afterwards Ginger shared a picture of her and Pikachu on her twitter stating ‘Pokémon are interested in meteorology as well’ to which the official pokémon twitter replied ‘Of course they do, the weather can have impact on attack effectiveness. With a new figure out to celebrate fall and the ability to predict the weather Pikachu sure is ready for the leaves to fall. Let’s hope that when the real one gets hit by a bunch of leafs it looks better than that figurine at least. Better than Ginger’s outfit too!

And that concludes today’s edition of Pink-Poké-News, with quite a few events happening it feels like this week has taken quite a while, it’s been a fun week though with a lot of pokémon news and new experiences for me to go trough.  Now it’s time for a well earned rest. Let’s see what the next week brings.

Pink-Poké-News: Week 35

Ladies and gentlemen it’s sunday again. Time to find out what announcements you might have missed during the week.. as we leave the month of August today it’s time for a brief edition of Pink-Poke-News.

Pokémon Masters is LIVE!

The new mobile Gacha-game  Pokémon Masters is now available worldwide.  The highly anticipated three versus three pokémon legacy game launched earlier this week. Due to personal circumstances the reporter however was unable to acquire a copy for reviewing. When finally getting back into the swing of things, it turned out that Pokémon Master would not be released in the Netherlands and Belgium because of their strict laws against loot boxes However should YOU live in the Netherlands or Belgium yourselves a bit of research has allowed this reporter to find a work around. Trough using a so called APK file you can download an app that is not available in your app store. Since this reporter is about as technically apt as her D&D 5th E characters, she is utterly unable to tell if a site is safe or unsafe. She just clicks and hopes for the best. Therefore there will not be any links to sites for a APK and the reporter asks the readers interested in playing this game to google it themselves. “How to play Pokemon Masters in (your country)”  worked as wonderful search prompt for me.. of course in your native language. Our copy of the game has been handed over to Chibi Pinkie for a review which will follow as soon as she makes it through a bit of the game. Pokémon Masters also have revealed that their first event will feature Blue. He will most likely be obtained through this event with his signature pokémon Pidgeot.

Once more we unfortunately can’t go into details due to massive system updates in the beginning of the game .. taking their sweet while. However finding out about the game yourself can also be quite fun and discovering how to unlock mister “smell you later’ can feel rewarding on it’s own. Pokémon Masters launch has been quite successful , though on launch day there where a few crashes and log in problems, this sooner testifies of success these days as to failure because most of these errors were caused by it’s sheer popularity. Quite like pretty much every Blizzard release. The new game is already the most downloaded app in over 25 countries, even though it already was downloaded several million times during pre-registration.  The player count thusly being very healthy at launch and reviews are mostly quite positive, which for a mobile game is still a win. People are praising the gameplay and looks but are all complaining on how expensive it is to spend money on pulls, yet since everyone seems to agree with this statement most reviewers also feel this issue will be solved in the future.

Pokémon Go shoves more Eevee down your throat.

We at Pink-Poké-News have made it pretty clear that we aren’t big fans from the direction Pokémon Go is currently going. However the announcement of Unova Pokémon coming soon has rekindled some hope… this week Niantic snuffed out that hope again by announcing the september breakthrough research. By doing our dailies like a good loyal player in september we can get.. Floral Crown Eevee.  This is an Eevee with a flower stuck on it’s head. What makes this event Eevee..somewhat special is that it can evolve into all of it’s seven eeveelutions. Once more proving that Niantic is not interested in letting you fill up your pokédex.. they just want you to fill up your box with faux unique pokémon. Adding a flower to Eevee means players who want to collect everything are forced to allocate another 16 bag slots to fill get every possible variation. Floral Crown Eevee, Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon Glaceon and Leafeon.. as well as all of their shiny counter parts as well as their shiny variations.  Currently a standard box in Pokémon Go can hold 300 pokémon, for upgrades you need to spend money or coins that takes at least 4 days to grind up. No matter if you grind or pay each upgrade costs about 2 dollars for a 50 pokémon upgrade, not a whole lot but still annoying. Now.. let’s see how broken Pokémon go has really become to the true collector. The game currently features 394 ish.. pokemon. So already.. you can’t collect them all without spending money… you can still complete the pokedex though.. but that isn’t were the game caters to anymore. Currently you lack about 100 slots to fill your box with everything. Now there are 32! (Maybe more if there was another headgear Eevee)  possible Eevee combinations to currently collect. There is 38 shadow Pokémon that also have a purified version meaning that is 76 additional combinations to add that do NOT really contribute to you catching them all. There’s 8 spinda forms .. which also has a shiny meaning there is 16 Spinda to collect. Since Pikachu has a noticeable gender difference between male and Female.. as well as having a shiny there is currently 44 Pikachu’s to collect, most hat forms can evolve or hatch into a prevolution.. so there’s (rough estimate) over 100 pikachu evolution line pokemon. 100+ Pikachu line , 76 shadow pokemon with their 38 regular counterparts, 32 eevee’s 16 spinda’s.. that’s already 262 pokémon for you to fill you box with that equal  51 legitimate Pokédex entries. That’s over 5 times as much! Niantic is inflating their Pokémon count to force players to spend money on getting the same pokémon over and over again.

We aren’t even that salty about it as it seems like smart business strategy.. but just LAST month we had an event where you could get floral crown Eevee AS well. Rehashing the pokémon in this period makes it feel like creative poverty. It marginalises tradability by rehashing event pokemon over and over again until everyone has them .. just like how community day has killed the values of shinies… as well as filled up my box. I would not nag about how unfair Pokémon Go is treating their player base if they at least launched a new variation that is unique to playing in september. It would force us to trade again. They marginalised raids by putting former raid pokémon and cramming them into the field research as well.  Sure it is nice that you can get some pokémon the way you want to play but it feels conflicted with how they initially meant the game to be played. Everyone can get anything if you wait long enough and rather then come up with something new .. or at least keep something unique to a certain aspect of the game they just rehash and repack so everyone can fill up their box space as soon as possible to spend their money on upgrades.
This game used to have a soul but Niantic is quickly selling it out for an easy buck. We will admit we understand why you cater to the hardcore and new players.. but me as a casual high level player feel completely forgotten and forsaken by niantic right about now.

Hidden Fates and Cosmic Eclipse

Now that I finished my rant how about a rave! Pokémon Hidden Fates launched last week and it’s slowly becoming available throughout the english speaking world.  Hidden Fates is a translation of the long time japan only GX Ultra Shiny packs with a twist. Unlike Japan we do not get guaranteed GX’s in our packs.. but we pay a lot less as well. It uses a few more modern cards from recent sets as well to make it more relevant. What makes this set so special is that it features a lot of shiny pokémon. Both as GX’s as well as some regular holographic ones. Unlike the japanese set.. HF comes with a lot of set unique GX’s that though lackluster in battle strength feature some nice close up art. One of the unique cards in this set is Articuno Zapdos Moltres Tag Team as well as a shining Charizard of course. Hidden Fates much more a collectors set than a battlers set though. There are some very good cards in the set still but you’d sooner by this set to collect rather than to play. This is reflected in the prices a card can fetch. Shiny Charizard graded will most likely fetch a few hundred dollars, while even the quite oftenly pulled legendary trio of Kanto fetches a few bucks. Pull rates for this set also seem quite well, that being said we mostly saw the promotional blister box being opened which admittedly does have some better pulls than your more conventional booster box or elite trainer box.The set is gorgeous and expansive with plenty cards for the true collector. However those who seek to build a deck would be better off with unified minds or unbroken bonds. Quite possibly even the last Sun and Moon set that will ever be release Cosmic Eclipse.

The Pokémon Sun and Moon card sets have decided to go out with a bang. Around the 10th of November.. just a few days before the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield.. the final card set from the series will arrive. and boy will they deliver some goodness.  For those who don’t know.. as soon as a new series begins generally all cards from the older generations become tournament illegal at least at official games. (With the exception of like the last two sets.. if they haven’t changed those rulings). Since Hidden Fates is a legacy set.. it will most likely mean that besides some good supporters you from HF Cosmic Eclipse singlehandedly has to close the gap between  the new V cards and their own generations Tag Team cards.
While we got the gist of what will be inside the packs , the specific content was only teased at.  The set will contain 9 new tag team cards, 7 additional gx’s and well over 20 supporter cards and a brand new form of special energy. New in this set will be the so called Tag Team Supporters. A supporter card featuring two trainers liked “Red and Blue’  as well as “Cynthia and Caitlin’ How these will impact the game remains to be seen. Other than that.. two new triple tag team cards where announcement. The Sinnoh Creation Trio: Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX as well as the ultra cute pink card Togepi & Cleffa & Igglybuff GX. These were briefly depicted in the trailer for the Sword and Shield set at Pokémon worlds but now.. they are finally rolling of the press. I bet you guys can guess which card this reporter will be pulling for.

Pinkie’s Pokemon Reached 50 followers.

Now existing for about 2,5 months Pinkie’s Pokemon has reached 53 subscribers at the moment of writing. Once more I would like to thank everyone who has made that possible. Blogging about a niche in a niche we never expected things to grow this fast. With plenty of content experiments planned in the near future like Trainer Profiles.. where I turn you favorite character, blogger  or celebrity into a trainer. Little crossover stories of your universe of choice .. mixing it with Pokémon as well. We will delve into some material deeper by providing you tutorials for it then later discussing it in depth referring to these base posts amongst other things. Still we all wonder what YOU’d like to see on this site.

What would make you frequent it more and what would you like to see added.  Here at Pinkie’s Pokemon we would love for this little community to grow and ambitious as we are there is a certain other pokémon blog whose way of bringing content I am not a fan off that I would like to surpass one day. Though our next milestone is simply 100 subscribers that will not be our final goal. Pinkie’s Pokemon wishes to properly showcase passion and love for her fandom in her own unique way without resorting to copying and pasting tweets and calling it a post. Yet Pinkie is not the only one who makes this blog.. it’s everyone reading as well. So tell us what you would like to see. I’d really love to hear more from you all! I might be the Pokémon trainer of this blog.. my readers are like my Pokémon.. I would not be anywhere without them.. so what flavor poffin do you like best? What’s your nature and what would raise our friendship?! Tell me in the comments or look around for if I finally manage to knock out a content page on my actual site! For some reason I can not do a contact form so I will have to be creative. I am happy that I can grow you all helped! Thank you for making Pinkie’s Pokemon possible!

This concludes week 35’s edition of Pink-Poké-News.  In the following week you can expect: Professor Pinkie talking about Arceus, Pinkie returning to the what if Ash was a girl story, a Pokémon rendition of “Star Wars a New Hope’  (Part 1 of Part IV) a review of Pokémon Masters and more! Do let me know what you’d like to see on this site yourself so we can grow. Thank you all for your support during my difficult time last week and for following this blog! Remember
I am not weird, just very pink!

Pink-Poké-News Week 33: World Championships Edition

Hey little monsters, welcome back again, due to sunday special today we bring you the Pink-Poké-News! Over the course of the past weekend the Nintendo World Championships 2019 took place in Washington DC. People competed to be the very best like no one ever was not one but THREE! separate games.  With up to three divisions for each game. Pokken (the Pokémon fighter game) Pokémon Trading Card game and Pokémon VGC all have new champions. This stage where titans clashed was a great source for news as well. This is Pink-Poké-News!

And the winners are?

First of all we at Pink-Poké-News would like to thank everyone participating and attending these venues. You keep our community strong and and alive. You are our backbone and our trainer. For those who do not know the Pokémon World Championships are an invite only tournament for those who have gathered enough points. These points you can gather by participating at other official tournaments and getting higher rankings in those.  So this tournament really pits the best against each other.
Generally each tournament has three divisions Junior for those of twelve and below, senior trainers are of the ages of 13 to 15 and master trainers at the age of 16 and above. Regardless of their division and age champions of the trading card game will take home a price of $25,000 dollars, winners of the VGC (video game championship.. or main game)  will take a $10,000 dollar and the winners at Pokken take home a $6000 dollar price.
Quite a difference when we compare it to Fortnite paying  3 million for the winners. But for those interested here a brief summary of the winners.

Trading Card Game Winners:
Juniors Division: Haruki Miyamoto from Japan
Seniors Division:  Kaya Lichtleitner from Germany
Masters Division: Henry Brand from Australia

As Pink-Poké-News prides itself in being the least objective news search we would like to say that seeing Kaya win her final match was the best moment of the TCG for us. Kaya placed second last year and it is great to see a strong european and female presence at the top of the crop. Thank you Kaya! And congratulations to all winners of course.

Video Game Championship Winners
Juniors Division:Pi Wu from Taiwan
Seniors Division:  Ko Tsukide from Japan
Masters Division: Naoto Mizobunchi from Japan

VGC is a format that features two on two fights which doesn’t which means it’s quite a different.. and kind of trickier format than your standard one v one battles. So you still have ways to defeat these champions. Naoto was interviewed at the end. Not very high on charisma but he managed to charm this reporter and the public when he was asked. “Who would you like to thank?’ Naoto without a moment of thought looked at the reporter and said (trough translator) ‘Noone it was really just me’

Pokken Tournament DX  Winners:
Seniors Division: Ashgreninja1
Masters Division: Subatan

The news crew over at Pink-Poké-News is less into competitive d fighting games than they are into 2d fighting games. The zoning and trapping just doesnt gel to well. It was nice to see Ash take the stage and thanking the community for making tournaments like these possible though.
As for the game itself, personally I find a bit too much meta to have snuck in so let’s hope that next year we really see someone push the envelope there. Once more congrats to all winners and giving us pokéfans such an amazing weekend!

The Arrival of V

With Sword and Shield coming to your Switch, it will also come to your decks very soon. The Pokémon TCG has announced that their game is eVolving.  After the Team-Up cards we are getting new mysterious V cards. Little is known but they will function like a GX or classic EX card. If your V card is knocked out your opponent gets  two prize cards. In the trailer we see a card shrouded in darkness with 330 hp. The average these days would be around 250, back when the reporter used to play this was about 180, with our deck hero only having 90 hp. We see a Zacian have an attack called brave blade, an attack that deals 230 damage with the downside it can’t attack next turn. Zamazenta has the attack Assault tackle which forces the opponent to discard special energy. Unfortunately energy cost has not been revealed yet so we can not  deduce their typings yet. Based on the spacing between the edge and the name.. of the move and the card edges it would however seem they have a fairly high energy cost. Though not much is revealed it seems that V cards are going to have just a single attack and a “bigger ability” however this has yet to be confirmed. It will be interesting to see what V cards will actually bring to the table.

Competitive Sword and Shield

Pokémon also released  a new trailer for Sword and Shield. No new Pokémon or story elements were described but catering to their demographic Nintendo offered a trailer that wet the appetites of competitive battlers, with some new modes, abilities and items it was a very solid , well thought out trailer that will show us the changes in the competitive metagame. Ladies and gentle people Nintendo is actually listening.

The unstoppable Dynamax
A few new mechanics about Dynamax were revealed in the new trailer that can leave a definite impact on the battle ground. All max moves have a secondary effect that is the same regardless of what base move it replaces. The Max Grass attack for example will set up Grassy Terrain, while Max Flying will have the same effect as defog and remove hazards. The Max Ice move will set up hail. This in itself will make Dynamax much more fluent  and balanced than Mega-Evolution or Z-moves. The focus is back to controlling the battle momentum by having a team. In most recent games you build your team around a Mega-Evolution and have a strong meta in your way to play. Since every pokémon can Dynamax without an item, you can pick the way your team flows. Will you use Dynamax to set up the Rain for speed and power or will you negate the opponent’s strategy by dynamaxing your flying pokemon. Pokémon is becoming so much more than a single mon’s game again which is super exciting. Dyanmaxxed Pokémon won’t be able to flinch and will (partially)  be able to attack through a protect, making the moment you Dynamax absolutely crucial in battle. It lasting only three turns means being smart about this is an absolute must.

New Items
We have also heard about two new held items which both are something quite amazing.
Room Service will be a super fun item to use for people using a trick room team.  In Pokémon who goes first is determined by who has the highest speed. However the move Trick Room makes it so that the slower Pokémon go first. It’s a tactic that is often used by the more bulky/defensive playstyle pokémon, that can turn the tide of battle.  However it is very hard to build an entire team that functions in Trick Room, however Room Service is an item that will reduce your pokémon speed by one stage (from 0 to -1 means your stat is 0.66 of it’s original) allowing a lot more monsters to be viable in the twisted dimensions. Giving new depth to the game.
Eject Pack: The Eject Pack will be a consumable item which switches the user out once it’s stats are lowered. Switching out a Pokémon resets their stat changes to 0 (0 means 100% regular stats) In Pokémon there are a lot of moves that deal massage damage with the trade of of lowering your stats, this item will let you switch them out for free (once per battle) This on itself would be great but it basicly alters moves like Draco meteor or Super Power, into extreme switch moves like U-Turn or Volt Switch (Moves used to deal damage while switching Pokémon.. opposed to hard switching which consumes your turn) .  Since the item also pops when your opponent lowers your stats as well it can become a bit of a double edged sword where the item becomes wastable.. just adding more excitement and giving your opponents possible counters.

New Abiltiies
Mirror Armor is one of the two new abilities that has been released.. and like everything that was announced it is awesome. It reflects any stat lowering effect your opponent uses on you.. back to the one triggering it. Corviknight is currently the only pokémon known to receive this ability but as he is going to be a tank pokémon this ability suits him greatly. If your opponent has a  pokémon with the ability intimidate (lowers attack modifier with 1 stage) Corviknight will make sure that ability is reflected back to the user itself. Most intimidate users are physical attackers themselves so this ability could be a game changer.
Neutralising Gas however is the ability that is shown in memes. Galarian Weezings ability negates ALL other pokémon effect that are on the field.  The impact on the game is huge. Not only can you mess up your opponent nicely, you can also use this to remove bad traits on your Pokémon. I could remove defeatist from my beloved Archeops, you can run Slaking without Truant and you can retrigger field effects by swapping Weezing in and out next to a weather pokémon to retrigger the weather. You can trigger intimidate multiple times and so much more. Hats off to you Galarian Weezing you really are amazing.

Ranking system
Competitive battling will finally have a decent matchmaking system by giving you access to tiered ranks. Named Pokéball Great Ball Ultra Ball and Master rank. It will make battling quite a bit more fun for people like me and maybe you who on occasion like a battle but don’t commit to breeding the perfect little monsters. This Battle Stadium mode will also allow you to participate in friendlier battles where everything goes like legendaries and certain move combinations. Ranked mode will of course be a bit more strict and level the playing field with updating rules to keep it balanced.  We know too little to go deeper to go speculating and call it good yet but should they do this properly this reporter and her alternate personalities might dabble with competitive.

Mobile game news

Pokémon Go and Pokémon Master news will be combined in this one given that they both only had just a titbit of new information. Pokémon Masters has passed a mark of having 5 million pre registered users showing us the game will at least be quite healthy before it even starts. Plenty of countries don’t have the pre-registration as well as a lot of people won’t bother and just will go for it upon release. We think it’s a great sign that so many people are taking interest in this mobile game, the developers seem to have put a lot of love and attention in this game and it’s nice to see people of the Pokémon community are at least able to somewhat drop the stigma surrounding mobile games. Just because it’s a different form of gaming that focus on other forms of payment doesn’t make it bad and soulless.

Pokémon Go had some exciting news. On the 23rd of august there will be a water festival event during which we can catch a lot of aquatic pokémon and are able to hunt for shiny barboach and carvanha. A fun way to fill up some of your box spots. However don’t go to wild because it looks like you are going to need your space soon. The goals of Pokémon Go fest Yokohama have been reached which means all players will get the so called Ultra  Unlock Bonus. Least year it resulted in regionals being in eggs, this year we get something else.
-Unusual Pokémon will be appearing in the wild during this week.
-Noteworthy opponents are coming to raids, too.
-Over the course of the event, you may also be able to add some Pokémon to your Kanto Pokédex that previously eluded you in your part of the world.
-Venture out to take on challenges and make discoveries.
-As always, happy exploring, Trainers!
These five bullet marks read down Unova the fifth Pokémon region that is the next in line to be implemented in Go It looks like soon we can finally expand our collection again! Maybe this reporter can find her spark for the game back that way.

Pinkie’s Pokémon joins OWLS

Those who have visited my website rather than my reader recently may have already noticed. This Blogger has joined OWLS. OWLS is an acronym for Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-respect.  A group of bloggers dedicated to promoting individuality without having to conform to stereotypes. To give people who are different a community where they are the same as well. No matter the colour of skin, sexual preference or what way you identify you are an Otaku or part of a fandom, someone that can enjoy the same stuff we all like. To me being a part of OWLS feels quite amazing. I am a part of the LGBT+ society myself and I have seen the embracing power of the geek/otaku community first hand.  Being part of OWLS feels like sharing that warm welcoming blanket I received.
Having joined the group will mean I shall partake in their blog tours from the next month on , meaning you will quite possibly see some non (fully) pokémon content for me. Though I will try to keep a Pokémon theme where possible but you can expect some fresh posts from me in the future. Besides the blog tour I would like to do my own little OWLish thing called OtakUnite.  A post I will make fusing my beloved pokémon fandom with the fandom of one of the people commenting on the post.
What I do with it will remain a surprise until the post launches! All you have to do is make a suggestion! So who wants to do a fusion dance with me?  Who wants their fandom spliced with mine and prove we aren’t that different and all?!

Let’s united my fellow Otaku? Let me know what show you want me to connect with Pokémon for the first OtakUinited post and who knows your suggestion might get picked! United we can create some amazing things.

Interview with Straw Hat Pikachu

Hey there my little monsters, today Pokémon Go launched a special event.
Rather than report to you that the “One Piece” Pikachu is catchable in go, I put on my own straw hat  and went on a cruise through town to catch one. I interviewed it and now here WE ARE.

Pinkie: ‘Well hi there little one, could you introduce yourself to us?’
SH-Pikachu: ‘I am Straw Hat Pikachu, me and my Nakama ,that is like our word for friends and teammates, boarded Pokémon Go today. ‘

Staw Hat Pikachu: Available from 22-7 untill 29-7

Pinkie: ‘Mind if I call you SH..it’s a bit faster? So SH what makes you so special’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Well I am a Pikachu with a special hat on..so that already makes me kind of special right?’
Pinkie: ‘Not really, your kind kinda cosplays a lot, you guys have more hats than I have shoes, and that’s saying something.’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Uhm well , instead of being your Pokémon I will be your Nakama, and with my launch you can wear a matching cap, that’s in the Go style shop’
Pinkie: ‘Well I am a sucker for matching outfits, so you got me there, but tell me , would it not have been cuter if Niantic chose to use Aipom for this event?
SH-Pikachu: I’m Pikachu I get all the hats, also why would they give it to Aipom, I am the mascot here.

Channel Luffy with this classy Styleshop Item..or protect yourself from the sun…whichever….

Pinkie: ‘Of course you are but I mean MONKEY D Luffy!? Kinda would have made sense.. it also has a somewhat stretchy tail hand thingies..so It would have made a lot of sense and diversified the game a bit. I have a LOT of versions of you.
SH-Pikachu: ‘Wait i am based on that stretchy pirate bloke? I thought this hat was just to protect me from the hot summer sun.
Pinkie: ‘No No, that’s Sun-Hat Pikachu that’s also a thing’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Well Arrrr then, time to plunder your booty’
Pinkie: ‘Thief is not in your moveset, so there will be no plunderin from you. Anyways, how long can we find you?’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Me and me mates will be here until 1PM on the 29th , then we shall hoist the anchor, keelhaul those who have not caught one and sail further down the Grand Line again.
Pinkie: ‘That means my dear reader that you have seven days to catch yourself a stretchy pirate Pikachu, speaking of which will there be anything else special about this event.
SH-Pikachu: ‘Nay Lass, except for the hat, and the hatted chu’s  that may be as shiny and valuable as One Piece itself, there is nothing to shiver your timbers.
Pinkie: ‘You realise Luffy doesn’t talk like that right..also.. maybe you should tell the people about the stuf in Japan.’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Awww… but I am already kind of boring if I dont talk like a pirate what else do I have?! Well should any of your three or so readers be in Japan, in the Kumamoto Prefecture , the statues of Luffy there, now will function as a Pokéstop. Doesnt that sound exciting.

Pinkie: ‘It does not’
SH-Pikachu: ‘Yeah you are right it really doesn’t’
Pinkie: ‘Anyway, I never asked, howcome you can talk? Did you eat the human human fruit or the Hito Hito no Mi, as the Japanese call it?
SH-Pikachu: ‘No, you are just talking to imaginary creatures again!’
Pinkie: ‘Frizzlesticks, I thought I got rid of my insanity’
SH-Pikachu: It’s okay, I can offer electroshock therapy

Did you manage to catch your own little Straw Hat? Did you like this cross over event?
Let me know in the comments and make my day by leaving a like, but most of all stay pink!

Pink-Poké-News Week 29

Welcome back my little monsters, on my Weekend Weeklies mostly on PPN (Pink-Poke-News)  we will discuss what happened that week in the wonderful world of Pokémon , as well as well as me sharing some thought on matters of that week.

Pokémon Community Day of July Mudkip
Pokémon Go, becoming increasingly stale to myself, is holding their community day this week. In just a few hours we will be able to hunt shiny mudkip, trivialising the once rare species once more, Niantic continues it’s trend of force feeding shinies and devaluing them further for trade. That said Mudkip is a nice shiny it’s purple colour really works well with the muddy being..whatever it may be as some weird tadpole , frog thing hybrid.
The Rocket expansion dropped this week as well, alongside concepts like shadow Pokémon.. this reporter really wished they would just add in more Pokémon and cycle them out just a bit more. We are here to catch pocket monsters after all. I like walking and hunting for Pokémon a lot, I do not even mind raids and gym battles that much but as we draw closer to completing our Pokédexes, Niantic would rather bring us new features to capture old Pokémon yet again. If I wanted to battle Team Rocket I would play a full on title, and for shadow Pokémon , the gamecube…or emulators offer much better alternatives. Maybe it is time for this reporter to bow out of Team Mystic, and try to become a master.

Pokémon Master News: The Poryphone, Co-op and Sygna Suits.
A new trailer and info dropped on Pokémon Masters, and I must say, it looks absolutely stunning. Although a lot of people have been giving Nintendo flack for focussing on phones rather then their mainline games I really like the concept of Pokémon Masters, and for fans it’s just an opportunity to play more Pokémon, I know I have been negative on P-Go just now.. but that is not because it’s a bad game, I like it’s core concept , this reporter dislikes it currently because it’s becoming lackluster in it’s core in favor of added features. Think of it like Pokémon Snap getting updates, but instead of new Pokémon to photograph or new stages to travel on, we get snapchat filters or mini games added to it. However Pokémon Masters is looking pretty darn good, offering a new battle format and bringing Pokémon the legacy game it very much deserved. It’s a 3 vs 3 legacy battling game where you collect legendary trainers and their signature Pokémon from throughout all generations, to win Gym Badges to compete in the Pokémon Masters League. Every trailer so far looks absolutely stunning, though in the last one a lot of assets from the old one have been  reused. The latest updates reveals , two maybe three new things.
The most minor one will be the Porygon-phone .. which might double as a Pokédex. A cute device shaped like our virtual pal. Why we did not get Rotom Phone? Unclear maybe this one is not sentient and just a phone case. Reporter Pinkie will find out for you this summer. Next it was announced that the game will feature a Co-Op function where you and two of your friends…maybe me if you’ll let me batte along… can fight NPC”s and challenge the game together. A mode that can be some great fun if you ask me and can bring some extra dynamics to the whole 3 on 3 system. Hopefully not everyone will use a Pikachu though. Yours truly has yet to hear about PvP possibilties but is dying to find out.
The last announcement on the game are so called Sygna Suits, these are alternative skins, with a VERY special effect. It changes  your allies signature Pokémon. For example regular brock uses an Onix, while Sygna Brock uses a Tyranitar. Both still have their eyes closed. How Brock knows he is wearing a different outfit is currently unknown, but hey at least he is finally using a decent Pokémon.
So far Masters looks promising , however the lack of a launch date makes me fear there might be a lot of patchwork left to do, which takes indefinite time, but we will have to see and find out.

Where is Impidimp
Finally a small pondering. During E3 2019 we got to play with two new Pokémon, Yamper, the normal electric good dog, and Impidimp the pink little devil, that is the amazing fairy dark type. Since E3 , Yamper and its ability Ball Fetch, which is sooooo adorable and clever,  has been officially announced and features on the Pokémon website. Yet of Impidimp there isn’t any trace. Alongside Yamper, Rolycoly and Duraludon have been announcement, which raises the question: Where is Impidimp? Have you seen the little devil? If so contact us at 555-(that means a phone number is fake)IMPIDIMP, or leave a like and tips in the comments.

Good Luck with your Shiny Hunt, let us know how many you caught. Will you play Pokémon Masters? Where do you think Impidimp is? Be sure to tune in next week for some more Pink-Poke-News, but most of all stay pink.
Until we read again.
