Elle’s Real Quest! What Bad Luck! I got Reborn into another Life and Now I am a Side Character 4

It has been a while since I have returned to my Isekai and my beloved character Elle.. who now combined with me! In this series we explore a fictional me being reborn in another world.. yet because she did not want to give up her qualities she asked the gods to just amplify every trait of herself. Her intelligence rose, her memory became almost perfect and she even became able to also do magic. However also her social awkwardness rose and worst of all her bad luck!  Her bad luck in fact was so bad.. that she did not reincarnate in her own story as a main character.. she was reborn as a side character.

In the last part Elle got a mock quest of her guildmate Carlita to find her cat Autumn. When Elle came home with a wrong (black)  cat she adopted it herself and named it Autumn.. a few days have passed since then.. since the main character is out of town..nothing really interesting happened. Day 29: Morning

Dear Diary, I groggily awoken on the 29th day of my residency in this new world by a thumping sound on my door! As the temperature began to rise as the summer season drew closer the air was thicker than before. The smell of the ocean gathered deeper into my house. It made me sleep more soundly. With nearly one month of being in this world nothing has changed much compared to my first five days. Maine returned a few times.. but each time I want to grab her for a mission.. she relegates me to the side. I have been taking on side missions like shearing sheep and gathering a rich kid’s balloon among other things. It has left me with numerous injuries but also enough coin to provide for myself and Summer. Who now has a collar!  The tieflings at the docks still shun me! I do not know why! Oh but yes! As I was telling there was someone knocking on my door. As I stumbled with my fooves down the stairs I got another splinter stuck into them.. for those who may find this diary and open it somewhere in the middle.. fooves are what I call my feet.. they are a mix between hooves and human feet.  I tumbled down the stairs.. but I landed in the pillows I placed there. I fall off the stairs a lot so I spend some money on pillows to prepare myself.  I used a spell named Mage Hand.. which I had been practicing for about ten days.. to open the door and there was our guild Cleric.

Ynaja in Elle’s House

Ynaja stared at me from the door opening. Her raven curled hair tightly kempt behind her melanated face. Her holy light reflected in her eyes given them a goldenish tint. Her holy symbol was that of “the Gentleman” a god in this world that represents romance and adventure. It is rumored that he has a mortal form publishing all those picture book romance novels she loves a lot! It is just a rumor though! I think real books should have more words personally! Also for a god to pursue such trivial matters seems unlikely. Regardless, she asked if she could come in to help me up and I agreed.  She smelled like wet clay and strawberries. ‘Did your sealing break again’ I asked, trying to show interest for her social situation. She looked at me really surprised.  ‘Uhm.. how did you?!.. Maybe we should start with Hello?” I shook my head “Hello is a great greeting to make acquaintance, however we have since long passed that phase I am at the guild on a semi daily basis so I feel greeting each time is redundant.. so how is your ceiling’. Ynaja let out a chuckle “I am surprised you noticed there is some stone in my hair?” I once again shook my head. “Negative! Your bodily scent however has undergone a tonal change, normally you smell more like the wood teak wood that your guild booth is constructed out of now you smell like clay..since you told your ceiling to crack earlier.. I figured the scent of clay would explain that you once again had to fix it up’ Ynaja blinked telling me I was really something.  My inquiries on what that exact thing was she thought I was however went unanswered. She interrupted my questioning with a smile when she told me she had a real quest for me.

Apparently in the nearby city of Twiddir there is a Grande Casino that has been losing money to a roguish figure by the name of Romegg Xanwych. Some kind of young rich kid who enriches himself more by cheating and taking state money! The Twiddir Grand Casino is owned by the state. I was to travel there with Mirina the Drunken Monk and Ynaja. Mirina was there in case we got in a fight and Ynaja was there in the , according to her , a somewhat likely case that I got injured. I was to use my analytical ability to find out how Romegg cheated and put a stop to it before he stole more of the state’s money! I could totally do that! I was finally going to apprehend a criminal! So I quickly got dressed..which might have embarrassed Ynaja a bit in hindsight.. not that I slept in the nude but I had my duck Pyjamas on! My first real mission I was so happy!

Day 30 : Morning and Noon

Dear Diary..that was a 51.2 Kilometer cart-ride from Windmere Port to Twidder. It took us a whole day, we arrived the next morning at the crack of dawn. This city smelled quite differently.. Dusty and manurey from too many horses kicking up the dust and dropping their colon’s  contents. Houses were plentiful oftenly stacked on top of  each other. All roofs had white shingles and blue songbirds nested on most of them. People were loud here! Yet nowhere were real conversations.  Instead people just shouted stuff at each other. I was too broken up from the trip to really enjoy it though. Shouting people are also scary! A heavy poluted rivier streamed trough the town..it would end up in Windmere Port but by then it would have cleared up in quality a bit again. Here you could see well.. everyone’s number two’s flowing. Judging by the smell when passing into town number 1 was also there a plenty! Living in a world without sewage is not what anime makes it out to be!

Ynaja had  hired a donkey cart to move us forward..it was so slow! I miss cars! Mirina got really drunk and began ranting about a book of friends she once read. Like for hours and hours… she would not stop! When I told her I have not read it, she told me she could read it to me! She had the book with her! But every time.. a certain character would do a certain thing I would have to indulge in alcohol! That seemed detrimental to our mission so I passed. After a very long cartridge.. in which I actually managed to finish the book of friends which she borrowed for me to read in peace after me asking for it.. we arrived at the inn that hosted the casino! We checked in.. washed up.. and Ynaja guided me to the casino hall straight away. I could use a nap but she told me it was very important that we get this job as quickly as possible. After me explaining my cognitive functions had be impaired.. she went to vent as she said for a bit.. After coming back she agreed to let me sleep until lunch and after lunch I would have to hit the casino.

During lunch I was pretty sure I saw Maine and Rho sitting at a table in the back! I waved at them but my visual stimuli did not seem to reach them! The audio stimuli of calling their names was ignored as well. They just stared at each other and then I saw them kiss. I had my suspicions before but now I felt like a Facehugger had laid eggs in me and I was giving birth to a Xenomorph..but instead of in my stomach the Xenomorph was in my heart! Ynaja told me that it wasn’t Maine and Rho, just people who looked like them. However I was sure it was them. Maine with her length of 1 meter and 72 centimeter or 5.6430446194 feet as some readers would prefer, was taller than the average human female. While Rho’s crimson hair colour only occurs once in every 80 half elves or so. With the average woman is almost 8 centimeters smaller as Maine I think the fact that a woman of her age, hair colour and height would date a man confirmed to Rho’s states would be a statistical near impossibility.
Ynaja snapped at me however and told me to leave it alone so I did.

I was forced into the casino soon after eating lunch and I was brought to a table that had a young blonde man who reminded me a bit of Spark from Pokémon Go.. just in more medieval clothes. His blonde spiky hair, and youthful look fitted his tacky noble roguish look. An air of self confidence came from him as he played with coins between his fingers. He was playing a game of Roulette, which is strange because in our world Roulette only was invented in 1796..I am not sure why I know what because I never knew that before! Either Way this would make my mission challenging. Ynaja gave me 100 gold of the guild funds to play with! Should I win anything I was allowed to keep it for myself she said! If I lost I would still get paid.  She told me she and Mirina would keep track of me! I introduced myself to mister Xanwych and wished him a nice play! Now in full expectation of what Ynaja told me I knew that Romegg would be winning a lot so I placed a single gold coin on the number he bet on. We both lost! Also Roulette here has three colours and 45 numbers but no zeroes! He frowned a bit and I noticed he tabbed the table with a coin.. is that how he cheats? He bet on 42… so I did too! I was pretty sure he would win this time.. but when then number landed on 1 instead… I was actually pretty shocked! Did I just read that wrong? His mannerism seemed to reflect utter surprise too. Could he just have failed his cheat?!

Day 30: The Encounter

For some reason Romegg Xanwych began coughing violently and tabbed the table harder with his coin! By now it was not even subtle anymore! Yet the croupier guy seemed not to notice.. or did he? He did get flustered!  Wait could they be in cahoots?! I like that word. I told Romegg he would be my lucky charm and we would win together and he did not seem to mind me so much..but he was very much glaring at the ball guy! When we lost our money again he however turned at me!  “Is It you, are you messing with us”. The Croupier drew a weapon and Romegg as well.  The ball guy asked me “How are you doing it, did you see through our plans”.  He signalled five security guards to come in closer. ‘Mister Xanwych, we will make our payments to you as soon as possible.. we are sorry.. I am not sure what magic she uses,’ Romegg nodded at the guy ‘If your boss wants to keep the magic box you better bring me this girl’s head’. The Rogue then made his way outside but Mirina got in his way.. but she backed off with a tisk when she saw the Croupier called in more guards and drew a dagger from his sleeve as he charged at me. In his other hand still that steel little ball! That frightened me more than the dagger I would trip on it if that ever fell on the floor! I would have to finish this fight fast.

A sharp pain went through my gut as I was shanked by the dagger. My brain was working harder than it ever did, my body however was not fast enough to react..I guess as a mage I have a low armor class and I bet my Dexterity modifier is trash! However.. if I did not stop him I would die! I had to cast a spell.. even if it might have harmed harm me! I know that one ice spell a bit!  The knife twisted in my gut a bit as he was clearly trying to kill me!  There wasn’t even a hiding it anymore.  Or was there?.. the guards drew away the sight of the crowd.. I was being murdered and Ynaja would most likely not be able to help me soon.. I had to do this myself. After the boar killing idea to become an owl.. I was offput on killing. I did not really study much.. offensive spells.. but perhaps if I approached it trough science I could still make it work! I saw that in a really lame Isekai show once. Cheat Magician. Since I was here to stop a cheater..using an approach like that seemed appropriate.


Elements get colder when their molecules get pushed closer together. I just had to use my Mana to slow down his molecules and put them closer together. I imagined my hand casting a mana net.. or more like a mana wrapping paper.. that I would cast around him then tighten to chill him.. but I was so scared! Being stabbed hurts a lot more than I could have thought! For those who think.. oh it’s a dagger..she probably only lost like 10 to 20% of her HP! Well .. Health Points mean nothing if you are actually stabbed! In games we always shrug it off but this was nothing like that. I had difficulty focussing! I might hurt this man.. but the pain and fear.. really made me let go of that desire not to hurt him. So when I touched him..I felt my mana flow as I let it out.. it felt as if a dam broke! Energy washed out of me all over the room! A Dewish..frosty white appeared on the floor, the glasses and even that roulette table froze shut… and the guy… well he just disappeared.. I heard a soft thud.. but he was gone.. and all around me was snow and ice forming.

Mirina meanwhile was using her monk abilities to deal a few Stunning Strikes and some flurry of blows knocking out three of the guards with ease. Using her reactions to deflect some throwing knives the others tossed at her. Their success hindered by Ynaja who was hindering her foes with the Bane spell.  Mirina approached the fourth and the fifth guard but she was low on Ki.She seemed genuinely concerned about my safety and spent her final Ki on another series of attacks. Her way of the Drunken Fist style fighting made her immensely hard for her opponent to hit. ‘When the Pink friend cries in panic, take a jab’ she yelled. “When Ynaja casts a spell take a Punch” she set knocking out some teeth of the fourth guard.  and when Mirina spends the last of her ki.. take a Nutshot” the guy grabbed his groin and fell down. Ynaja dealt with the other guards showing me both fighters were so much stronger than me. She casted the Area of Effect spell .. Spirit Guardians. A third level conjuration spell generally learned by Clerics. Four super pretty anime like boys  made of light appeared. They seemed slightly based on fairy tale tropes. As I touched her shoulder and smiled at her then dashed at all the guards invading our private space and they were knocked out by the light magic.

There I was the dagger still in me.. but no more croupier in sight. I knew I was about to fail my mission again! Mirina had gotten a scratch from her scuffle as well.. I could not let her wounds be in vain so I searched around and I found a previously guarded door now open.. but there.. slithering against the wall was Romegg. He was almost at the exit.. I had to stop him.. but I knew no spell that was within range..I was not gonna fail however.. what felt like a breaking dam suddenly felt as if everything broke.. I wasn’t going to fail more! I had failed enough! By instinct I pointed my hand at him…and then everything went white! It was over! 
Oh no! Now that I read it that almost sounds like I died or passed out.. no I meant like.. the entire area I pointed at went white.. It all just deep freeze. Unfortunately so did Romegg. Like if you ever saw that Jason X movie?! Where he kills a girl with liquid nitrogen?! Kinda like that.. only he fell while his head froze and then.. well… at least he won’t be stealing money from the casino… wait a minute….

Day 30: Wrap Up

I remember crying a lot! I killed a man! I did not want to do it ..but it happened! Ynaja came over to heal me and Mirina seemed really angry at Ynaja. ‘You should have told her the truth’ I was crying so much that actually I did not realise this until much much later.. but whatever you are reading now is the revised version. I was a bit traumatised by my first kill that is not that easy either.. just because I get Isekaid. Regardless.. so yes.. Mirina told Ynaja she should have told me the truth. Ynaja scowled ‘She would not have come if I told her the truth’  Mirina apparently put my head on her shoulder and let me cry out! I don’t remember but I do  remember smelling tequila that day! ‘She failed her mission again.. or so she thinks, she actually did exactly what you wanted her to do, didn’t she?’ Mirina asked Ynaja shrugged. ‘No idea what you are talking about’ Mirina slightly rocked me up and down with her eyes glaring at Ynaja. ‘You used her bad luck to make Romegg lose all that money and cause a conflict ..so that Maine and Rho could get inside and do the real mission and find that box he was talking about right?’ Ynaja smiled. ‘Correct, we just needed Elle to create discourse. The real price is inside.. but trust me.. that artefact justifies the means’ Ynaja went on to pull the dagger out of me and heal me. However from the shock I completely passed out. For all those who ever role played a character getting stabbed with a knife!.. It hurts! ..It’s not just.. Ouch!… Mirina saw something laying next to my unconscious body.  She picked up a diamond and studied it. Inside it was a little steel roulette ball. ‘Did she just?’ Ynaja shook her head and looked at Mirina sternly. ‘Sell that and give the money to Elle as her share of the loot but don’t tell her about this’ 

 The dark skinned woman then said ‘We are done here’ Mirina wanted to object. Elle could be dangerous if that was the extent of her abilities. Suddenly a voice in  the drunken monk’s head appeared. “Seize this act Mirina, Elle acted precisely as I predicted. She has her uses to us and her role in this world and she has her flaws.. if it ever needs be we can take her down easily’.The voice thundered in Mirina’s head sounding femine and commanding.  ‘She is our Guildmate.. I’ll protect her like all my allies’ the monk objected. The voice boomed in her head once more! This time more divine and more regal ‘Do not forget your place, your loyalty lies with your guild not with one member’  The voice would then grow colder and more cruel.. almost inhuman for a moment. “Besides would you really risk HIM for someone not even of this world?.. Our mission is bigger than just one girl, if you can even call her that now do as Ynaja orders” The monk picked up my unconscious body and lifted me over her shoulder  “Yes of Course Guild Master” Mirina answered to the voice..

I woke up in my own bed?! How long had I been out! Summer was pawing at me looking hungry! There was a big sack of money  there at that time I had no idea where it came from! It had a note from Mirina saying it was all the stuff we could loot from our quest. It said the dagger that stabbed me was poisoned with a poison that made me see things that were not there. They kept me asleep for it to wear out. They captured Romegg after I made him slip because I froze the floor?! That’s not what I remember! Wasn’t he dead? I was told I must have been delirious. That knife did not feel poisonous! Also the way the croupier held his dagger did not make sense if it were poisonous. He hid it in his sleeve! Had my memory been that tainted?… I felt I had to investigate but something in my head told me to leave it alone and buy a fat fish for Summer… so I ended up doing that instead! She likes fish so much!.. Also I fell in a fish pile again…..

With that another episode is done! Will Elle ever realise she just did the side mission yet again?! What is this box? And what plans does this Mysterious Guild Leader have? What will Mirina do? So many questions, so if you like to find out, there will be a next time! Of course you can help to ensure there will be a next part by making sure I don’t starve to death, get bored to death or croak from Cafeine shortage! That is right! This is another Kofi plug! Hello dear Island Guests, it’s time for the third installment of my Isekai “What Bad Luck! I got Reborn into another Life and Now I am A Side Character. In this story I died by falling of a stairs in a moment of bad luck! When I could be reborn into another being with one wish I just asked to be a more amplified version of me! You know the whole super stats thing! Little did I know it would boost my social awkwardness and my bad luck as well! With that boosted bad luck, I became a side character! NANI!!! Hello again dear diary!  I am sorry I haven’t written to you in so long! I spilled my inkwell on evening of the third day just as I was to chronicle that.. and well  I am sorry for tearing a pages out of you but things have gotten a bit messy! All in all it didn’t matter much anyway because that third day not a lot happened! I almost felled compelled not to leave my house and do anything! I kinda felt blue for failing my first quest as well. Like I could not be bothered doing anything so I just lay in my bed and thought about this new life. I wonder if Elle ..the lady I was reborn lived happily.. and where did she go?! Maybe I am just Elle and I am had a very weird dream ..and I am accidentally going insane..maybe it’s some sort of disease that rots my brain away! Then again I can still count exactly how many nails there are in my bedroom floor, and extrapolate that given my house dimensions to within a margin of about 12 nails are able to tell exactly how many nails hold my floors together. So maybe my brain is still fine!.. But day three came and went without any events. Day four was like that as well. I visited the Owl’s Nest briefly but they had no new quests. Since things were slow I thought I might ask Maine out for a date.. to thank her for the coins she gave me and .. you know she still is kinda good looking.. but she was still out on her forest trip.  Ynaja asked me where I was from and was like the way I was.. I did not understand at first but she thought I was weird.. it made me a bit sad and I went home, not doing much! I think I even forgot to eat!

Today however was quite differently! I went back to the guild and I saw Oscott, Mirina and Daria had returned so I guess Maine was back as well. I wagged my tail so hard I knocked over a glass of another woman in the guild, her name was Carlita a Celestial Bloodrager. She was Drow, from the Down-Underdark. If I ever find my way back to the real world and I can take  this diary let me explain! A Blood-Rager is an inbetween of a  Barbarian and Sorcerer Archetype.. who draw their magic power from something in their blood and Carlita is part angelic .. so she is prone to barbaric fighting but when she rages she changes shape of sorts getting a much cuter uniform and angelic wings! …A Drow is something close to a Dark Elf.. you know like those ones from Skyrim with the bluish skin In normal D&D they are from a place called the Underdark.. but in this world they call it the Down-Underdark ..and it’s like an Island far far away! So yeah I spilled her drink I saw her  transform because she was angry and then.. she looked super glowly and her outfit went white I even saw wings I think.. but then … I got knocked out again..later she told me she did not mean to , it was just a reflex and we talked a bit. When the dizziness in my head finally was over I walked up to the quest board and saw one new quest. There were more before but well in my time unconscious most were picked up already.

Bloodrager Carlita

The quest was a two person stake out in a romantic park, I would have to pose as the others lover ..so feed  each other sandwiches and like pretend to be a couple in love. Apparently someone was selling bogus love potions..or lust potions .. I am not exactly sure as I have found myself increasingly unable to read subtext. Regardless..a guy sold potions to couples to help deepen their bond but it actual makes people break up and hate each other and it had caused conflict in the town  that held the park.. which wasn’t to far away from our town either. I like love so the idea to defend it was super appealing to me!  Maine promised me to take me on the next quest so this is where I could make my move! However I did decide to ask around for other options though! Maybe she’d want some rest after her quest. Oscott looked quite pensive and said he needed to shine the inside of his armor so he could not. He must be a clean freak or something if he wants to do that because no one can see that!
Mirina told me to leave her alone and she wanted to get drunk. She would not go to a picknick because getting drunk publicly was fineable. Daria told me she had to do a thing.. at “whatsitcalled” and Carlia dropped her pen under the table, she could not hear me, she kept searching.. I did not remember her writing.. so maybe I am going insane!

Maine Finally showed up and I asked her to do the quest with me , she came up and smiled  reading the quest. “I think I might take this quest with Mister Mans if you do not mind Elle’ she said while taking the paper away from me. ‘I don’t think we would make a very believable couple now would we?’ she winked at me..I think..she might have stabbed her sword in my chest because that is how it felt! ‘Why?’ I was able to ask her that and she looked at me and frowned. ‘Well I like boys, for one and with your disabilities I don’t think you should go out there,you’ll be made in no time and get into danger, I rather see you safe’
‘M-my disability I asked?’  Maine looked at me and patted my head ‘You know , you are a bit low on charisma my dear, you have a charm for sure but socially you are a bit of a wreck’ I froze up … straight in the Kokoro! I bet this is how those anime characters feel like when the look grey and with the big white eyes and such! When she was gone.. so was my quest..
I sniffeled a bit when Carlita came to me and  gave me a quick hug. ‘I am sorry.. I bet she didn’t mean to hurt you…I just think she really wanted to take this quest with Rho though but hey you know what I have a quest for you, I recently lost my pet, I’ll give you 5 gold if you find it for me? ‘ 

Carlita told me she lost her cat called Autumn and upon me inquiring more details about the cat she at first seemed to be inclined to tell me something but than she changed her mind. ‘Maybe it is part of the quest you can ask around, meet some people in town, I live in near the ports. The house across the ship Jupiter’s Grace.. the one with the green roof. Perhaps you could ask one of the sailors if they have seen my cat?! It will help you proof Maine is wrong about your social skills as well sweety’ .  She winked at me shooed me off. ‘Come on you go girl! Your quest awaits’ . Since I needed the money and could use some experience points I dashed off. I did notice Carlita use a different voice inflection than before, indicating that  there is an increased chance of her knowing more about the whereabouts of her own cat. It is my hypothesis that she knows exactly where to find it and it’s not even missing but she wished to relieve my psycho-emotional malady. In fact given the downwards faced gazed and the avoidant approach factor Ynaja had heading towards the table I suspect she would soon inquire on Carlita why his quest was given to me!  Speculation could be made that this quest was given to me to secure my financial security.. but the way her eyes lit up it seems there have been well willing ulterior motives in play.  

Making why way to the docks I was almost overwhelmed with the salinity of the ocean air.. but also the scent of not so fresh fish! Probably heavily brined. I guess not having access to motorised ships and cooling decks has made the intake of fresh fish more difficult. After acclimating a bit I approached the ships. Apparently the ships are mostly named after gods followed by a blessing of some kind. Most ships were fishing boats like Silvanus Solace or Mystra’s Boon. One ship was a bit mysterious a trade vessel helmed by mostly Tiefling Sailors that seemed to avoid me, unlike me they  mostly had red skins, though there were a few variations and blue ones on top of the deck. They were the crew of a ship called Beshaba’s Pearl. It had a figurehead of a tiefling female but instead of demon like horns she had black deerlike antlers. I could not stop staring at it for a while.. until a seagull dropping hit my outfit.  I went onto the dock to wash it off..when all the Tiefling Sailors suddenly moved out of my way and withdrew the plank to their ship! I guess they really are superstitious about women being on boats. Unfortunately I fell in the water while  rinsing of my outfit because one of the wooden boards had come a bit loose… the ship would not even toss me a rope! Luckily I managed to climb back on shore again! Men can be so rude!

Finally I found the Jupiter’s Grace but it seemed all but abandoned. I noticed Carlita’s house which was quite a bit larger than mine. A single Drow woman looking very much like Carlita was sitting on the edge of the ship playing with a rose. Other than her the ship was completely abandoned. She wore a sailor uniform so I guess Drow have less issues with female crew members..perhaps they just do not genetically diversify that much so there is a big chance of being a female.. I should inquire more from Carlita at a later time. For now I had to proof I was sociable! So Maine would be proven wrong! So I spoke up as loudly as I could. “Salutations Lascar I was sent by thy kinsman to perform an inquiry upon a unaccounted for Genus Felis. hast thou by whims of faith perhaps perceived anything of such notion” The woman looked at me and pulled up an eyebrow. ‘Salty my what now?’ I do not know what came over me there I tried so hard to sound cool and convince her to work ..but now she thinks I was like a weirdo. I tried again.  ‘Excuse me Jupiter Sailor madame I am looking for my friend.. I mean my guildmate’s cate. She lives in that house with the green shingles over there’.  The lady stared back at me.  ‘Ai I have seen a cat, in fact the thing has been a pest and took off with some of the fish we were unloading.  You might want to check out the fish pile near the Mystra’s Boon, they are getting a cart.. I bet your fur ball will show up! ‘  She stared at me from the deck ‘Say you look soaked gal pal.. does li’l old Mako here make you THAT wet?’ She then licked her lips. ‘I fell in the ocean because a bird pooped on me.. I don’t know who Mako is.. is it a person with like a squirt gun or a like someone who throws a bucket of water?” The Drow looked confused “No I am.. you know what never mind’. So I went off.

I made my way towards the fish pile that was stacked near the fisherman boat the woman whose name I forgot to ask and tried to hide behind a crate.. unfortunately a bird had tried to pick up a fish and dropped it right in front of my fooves, my feet hooves and I slipped on it and fell into the pile of fish. While trying to crawl out getting fish slapped in the face everywhere I noticed the sound of meowing coming closer. I decided to hide for a bit longer in the fish pile and then flop out when the cat is eating it should not move then! The plan was quite successful, although the oil in the fish had made me a bit more oily than I would have liked.. so I slid a bit to far and bonked my head on a chest. Luckily my horns kept me safe.
The little cat did not get scared off by me! It was a tiny black cat.. not much past a kitten.  I called out “Autumn..come here.. Elle is going to take you to your Mamma!’ I do not know why calling myself by my new name comes so natural to me!  Yet the kitten actually abandoned the fish and like bonked it’s head against me a few times! Maybe it liked how fishy I smelled! I had no trouble picking it up!..Walking off the docks was a different story! I was so slippery.. but I had to keep Autumn safe.. so I brazed myself and walked back to the guild like I had pooped in my pants.. almost doing a crab walk as well.. so I would be sure I would not fall. At one point an orange Tabby cat began to follow me as well! It wasn’t as nice as Autmn though! It scratched at my legs a bit and trying to take a bit. So now I had to crabwalk with another cat nibbling at my feet! I bet if I could rinse of the fish oil at the guild it would return home! This cat actually had a collar! I should get Autumn a collar as well!  That way Carlita would be extra happy! Crabwalk to the store!

By the time I got there though the store was closed! I did not dare to move fast..enough so I guess I should give her that as a treat the next day. The orange Tabby had stopped scratching my leg as well.. which is good because I am pretty sure I could see some bone sticking out! I should have Ynaja heal that. ‘Oh look it’s the Tiefling and her cat parade’  a familiar voice suddenly said. It was the Drow woman that was the Jupiter Sailor. ‘If you like cats that much , I have a pussy for you’ she said. ‘While I would like to become a pet owner myself I am unsure if I currently possess the economical means to sustain a  cat for an extended period of time. ‘No worry babe’ the woman said ‘This pussy will leave in the morning’ I frowned.  ‘I do not think a pet should be only kept for a day, relocating stress will still be in effect so while I would not mind a cat staying over for a night I think it would not be in their best interest accept a deal like this so I am afraid I must decline. The woman laughed and patted me on the head. ‘Aren’t you precious lil old Mako likes you..she’ll probably give up for today but don’t you worry babe she will be back’ I gasped! ‘The water throwing person? ‘ The sailor laughed again and walked off. Such a strange person! I find myself completely incapable to comprehend what she wants.. perhaps it’s her way of speaking it seems more crude than I am used to.. I find myself unable to make conclusions based on these sentences.

Little Leg Hurting Monster

When I finally got back to the guild Carlita was already outside waiting for me. ‘She saw me coming in slowly for a while as crab walking was not very fast. “Autumn’ she yelled coming towards me. With some pain in my heart I held up the little black kitten! It was so nice to me! It fell asleep in my grasp even, making a purring noise! Then Carlita moved right past me and picked up the orange cat.  ‘Thank  you for finding Autumn she said kissing the orange one.  ‘Wait if that is Autumn who is this guy or girl?’. Carlita came closer inspected it and said it was a girl while handing me five gold pieces putting them in my pocket with a wink. ‘You earned them girlfriend’ she said.  ‘Okay but whose cat is this? It doesn’t have a collar’. The bloodrager looked at it and pointed out some out how it was somewhat poorly groomed.
‘She might be a stray, why don’t you take her home with you.. if you found her at the docks she might be hungry and  trying to keep herself alive.. it will not be long for a bad sailor would harm her. ‘How did you know she was eating fish’ I asked Carlita. ‘Well she’s a cat.. and you smell like a barrel of fish I just put 1 and 1 together’ she once more winked at me. ‘How did you know it was female then?’ I asked. Carlita winked again and said she might just have a talent or perhaps she met it once or twice..who knows? I am beginning to think Drow have really twitchy eyelids! I looked at the black girl cat kitten. ‘So do you want to come with me?’ I asked it.. It meows really loudly and pressed it’s head against my hand. ‘That seems like a yes, so how are we going to name you then? ‘ I stared at it for a while before I decided. I found it before I found Autumn apparently so I settled on the name Summer. Carlita congratulated me with my first completed quest and told me she would give me a hug..but I should go home to take a bath. That seemed like a good idea. 

So that’s about it my dear diary! I think I will call you Diana by the way! I took Summer home with me and she seemed to like it there! Like just before I got home she like jumped out of my hands and ran towards the home herself..she got in my way a bit as she swirved to the side…so I had to stop and I kinda jump aside into some horse manure..but well I was going to take a bath anyway it did not really matter!  I had a little friend now.. I am less lonely! Oh I forgot to mention that Ynaja healed my flesh that Autumn had scratched away! Otherwise the horse Manure could have easily caused horrible infections that might lead to amputations or weird diseases but no,  so don’t worry about me Diana I am going to be fine!  
Remind me to get a patch of fabric though once I go out to buy Summer a collar tomorrow!
I do need to teach her some manners, she got in my way again and since I not wanted to trip on her I just threw myself to the side and my growing back horns poke a hole in my couch!
I need the patch for that!

I had a nice bath though! I put Summer on my bed and told her to wait for me and she looked at me and meowed in agreement.  Then I filled a tub with some hot water and added some rose petals and scented oils. I first threw a few buckets of water on myself like in the alley behind my house to rinse of the fish.. I hoped Summer would like me after but I felt she would. When I was in the bath I wondered.. Maine shot me down.. hardly.. do I have a chance .. I think she like Rho!   He’s a thief.. so is it true women really like bad boys?! I don’t understand.. maybe I should find a bad person who likes me? Like a ..anti-paladin or a pirate or a corporate executive?! I wonder if someone like that would ever be into me?! At least Carlita was kinda nice to me.. It’s kind of weird though how no important quests show up when Maine is not around and when there is only one left she always gets the last one even if I try… She will still be away tomorrow as the next town is a day’s travel by foot. So I will see if this trend continues! Anyway I should go sleep now.. Summer fell asleep on the middle of the bed and i did not want to distrub her so I guess I will sleep on the floor next to her. I don’t want her to be afraid that I am gone should she wake up! I wonder if Ynaja can heal backpains?!

Review: Pokémon Quest (Android)

Hello once more my little monsters. I had a bit of a crappy day today, so I decided to forget all about it and write you all a nice little bonus blog. That will cheer me right up! Recently I got a phone that actually works, and isn’t powered by fossil fuels anymore. Finally I could play what some people consider worse than Fortnite, Mobile Games! What else what I play but Pokémon though? So today we have a review for Pokémon Quest!

The concept:
Describing what Quest is about is already a bit difficult, in essence I would describe it as an on rails Pokémon Mystery dungeon like game, which played a lot of minecraft at the daycare center. From the egg between those two, came Pokémon Quest. In non poké-players terms, it’s a semi automated dungeon-runner with cubelike pokémon. You play a nameless and faceless adventurer along with their robot pal MoBee. Mobee and you travel on a cute little ship , when you stumble upon Tumblecube Island, which is is a very diverse island, with lush jungles and scorching deserts, alongside vast pink plains and some cavelike stuff, among other things. Each area holds a variation of the original first generation pokémon, as well as some tribal statues you and Mobee are trying to collect. Don’t ask why, it’s just a thing you do. It doesn’t take MoBee long to locate you a starter pokémon, you get choose from Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee and Pikachu. Of course I chose my pal Bulbasaur.
From there on out you get to explore the island.

The Atmosphere
The game’s main selling point is how freaking adorable it looks. Cube Bulbasaur is kawaii as frizzlesticks. Kawaii being weeaboo for cute. Man is this game adorable.  After your first expedition you get a base camp where all your pokémon gather and hang out. You can see your cube pidgey hang out with your cube bulbasaur playing together by jumping in rhythm. Sometimes they even stack themselves on top of each other, which also looks adorable. Sometimes you just see them talking to each other, well you actually see a bunch of shaking cubes.. but you know what’s it about.  The amount of life they managed to get into these cubes is truly amazing Attacks are mostly recognisable , for example my bulbasaur knew petal dance which is animated a series of pink cubes spinning around, but pidgey actually got a little tornado for gust. The cubiness never is used to excessive and there is still a distinct pokémon feeling about how everything looks. The sounds are okay, of course it does feature the original cries of pokemon, which is super neat and whenever you attract a new pokemon, you get them blacked out with just their cry, reminiscent of the “who is that pokémon” game we all know and love. It’s charming throughout.  The music is nice and peppy, though they oftenly feature weird sound bites inside them and can be really busy. I don’t mind , cause it’s totally me, but I can see this getting annoying to some in time.
The game is quite grindy so music is created a lot.  I am not particularly fond of the boss theme for that reason. All in all they create a solid atmosphere that makes the game fun to look at and listen too. A nitpick of mine is how they could have made the layout feel a bit more inline with what we usually see from Pokémon games. The chosen Icon and HUDS just don’t feel very Pokémon like to me, making me believe this might have started out as a different game.

Technical Thingies:
Programming wise the game is pretty solid. I have to commend the Autoplay AI (which you in time will use)  for actually being somewhat tactical in when to use powers and when it doesn’t. Yet for boss battles you might want to consider taking back control, because the difficulty scale is a tad on the harsh side. The game oftenly provides a power level you need to have to pass a mission, but this doesn’t always fly true. Nor do the reckoning type badges apply to each level making the game feel a bit wonky at times. Loading times also seem a bit longer then what is needed for the actual screen to appear, causing me to press buttons without them responding, however in fairness this may also be due to the hot weather slightly affecting my screen. The biggest technical snafu however is the pathfinding.
As mentioned earlier pokemon move sort of on rails. However that rails is randomised each time. They just run to a new random spawn zone on the map without you controlling it. In doing so however both your team as the enemies can’t tell if there is a river , a mountain or nothing in between you. They do learn but if Pidgey and Bulbasaur clip behind a rock and Vulpix is free, the latter will not wait for it’s team members and go on a suicide mission, which can be detrimental to runs. They did make a button to fix those issues though, that cause a pokemon to backdash.
On the plus side, controls are simple clean and as soon AS they are responsive they react accurately and properly. Swapping item, placing decorations and all the extra stuff works very smoothly so I’d say the game preforms average to okay on this area.

The gameplay
Unfortunately I can’t be quite as positive about the gameplay, though I would not call the game pay to win too much, the pase can be dreadfully slow if you don’t pay. 
In essence the game works like this, in your base camp there is a cooking pot. You toss some fruits, mushrooms and fossils (for some reason) in the pot to cook meals.
These meals attract pokémon that you can add to your team. You can take up to three cuties on an expedition with you, giving you new power up items and ingredients to cook with. Each time you start cooking it will show you a 0 out of X number. The X is how many expeditions you have to do before your new soup is ready, iow you need to play that many rounds to get a new pokémon. You level up your Pokémon by having them go on expeditions or by doing training. New moves can only be learned through training and that is exactly where the game falls apart for me. Training..sacrifices pokémon you caught, the more pokemon of the same type you use.. the more experience you get. Move learning however is an entirely different form of training als requiring you to sack of some Pokémon. A soup will, at least in the earliest stages take you about two two five expeditions. Each expedition costing Mobee some battery energy. He has five! energy. Each bar recharges in 30 minutes. This means you’ll get one or maybe two pokémon per two and a half hours. These pokémon are heavily RNG influenced. A pokémon can learn one or two moves, which can both be status or attacking moves. Everyone has a basic attack as well.  These basic attacks are super weak though, so basically if after two and a half hours you get your new mon and it only learns lightscreen… you either need to sacrifice four pokemon (10 hours of work) to learn it a new one, or rely on RNG and hope that you attract a better one by creating a similar soup. Luckily this is somewhat compensated by recipes. Certain types of soup attract certain type of Pokémon, so if you need a water type, it’s a safe bet to cook with a lot of blue ingredients. My luck in attracting Pokémon is horrendous , though I did manage to get my hands on a shiny machop! If you pick up certain package deals you will get up to three extra cooking pots, which I must say are somewhat fairly priced for something that effectively doubles up to quadruples  your game speed. The expeditions themselves are fun and short enough just to fire your phone up for briefly. The descent autopilot makes it into a decent idle game as well. Just turn it on while chopping your salad or flipping your burger and you can still have a fun time, if you don’t mind trying your luck. The in game currency you can get fast enough to expand your pokemon slots and item slots without it limiting your game, just don’t go crazy and shop for to many decorations in the beginning. Those offer you a bonus themselves but until you get a versatile team, having power up items and plenty pokemon is more beneficial. No great gameplay, but it’s free to start so it doesn’t underachieve for me either.

Your pokémon will have a lot more fun at basecamp than you , if you play for free.

Score
Definitely the cutest pokemon game, (at least if we don’t consider the ones who use the IP illegally) you can get on your phone, but with plenty of frustrations to be had if you allow it to. Something you can easily pass upon  and you would not really miss out on anything, yet again if you really love pokémon or even just love to see some cute cubed monsters running around there is no really any harm in playing it either. You will not even feel totally ripped off, if you buy the adventure packs. As for available purchases this game does actually give you some worth for your buck. Guaranteed pokémon, and permanent game speed upgrades?! I can totally live with those.  Don’t expect a Pokémon Go like mobile game which you can constantly play though. Compare this game to an episode of a Joy of Painting (Bob Ross).
There’s a lot of happy little things and some bosses you can beat the devil out off, but in between those waits it’s borings as flan.

Final Score
