Trainer Profile: Perfect Cell

A jolly good day to you again my dear little Watsons. Over the past few weeks we had some experiences with creating so called trainer profiles for the likes of myself and my family. Now we shall apply this skill to actual delinquents to see how they would look like in the actual world of Pokémon so we know what to expect should they misbehave. Today’s villain is one most of you will know. Calling himself the perfect life form, Perfect Cell from Dragon Ball Z. Why did I choose Cell? Well because if I did them in order the criminals would know what to expect of course! Also Frieza scares me..so I rather pick one that is still in the home for infinite losers. Because I cant say where he REALLY is

Trainer-class: Champion

Perfect Cell could have been a gentleman, as a villain Cell is well mannered, eloquent and even somewhat charming. At least in his final forms (counting instant transmission 100% perfect cell as well). For those who do not know who perfect Cell is, he is the third major antagonist in the dragonball Z series, take third with a grain of salt though because there were some other villians in there as well. Created out of the cells of all fighters by the ‘evil’ doctor Gero this bugman had to absorb two androids in order to achieve his perfect form. When he did this and noticed no one was able to stand up to him he had given the people of Earth seven days to train and come face him in a big tournament he called the Cell Games, if they would not be able to defeat him he would destroy the Earth. While this simplification doesnt do the character justice it shows exactly why his trainer class has to be Champion. He in his very concept is ‘the strongest’ that people have to train up for in order to challenge him at a tournament.

This is basically the entire concept how a champion in the Pokémon World works as well. You gotta train your team so you fight a really strong guy in the end that no one had the strength to face before. Cell is a Boss type villain, like Frieza, Hit  or Jiren. Yes I am leaving Kid Buu out of that list as Buu was basically the only relevant encounter in his arc so he never really felt like a boss to me and more like let’s say the Moon in Majora’s mask that will cause certain doom instead of the final boss encounter. In terms of Pokémon Kid Buu would be your legendary encounter or Ultra Necrozma battle. Cell is a knowledgeable fighter has mastered many techniques and can be both charming as well as an arrogant sack of shiitake mushrooms.  Being a mix of classical champions like Blue and Lance arguments can be made for Cell being the perfect Champion.

Preferred Type: Bug

Being a bugman himself it would make sense that Cell has a natural affinity with the type. Yet I do need to say that Cell probably one of the few people here, who I’d possibly rank as “omni’ type. Cell is built with the cells of other fighters and thusly is super adaptive and can use techniques of others much like they are his own. However there is also merritt to  Cell preferring the bug type other than him being one. Bug types have a super fast development cycle, much like our subject of today. Their evolution cycle is the fastest of any type of Pokémon. Cell evolved from his pod form to his perfect form in the span of a few days. Near a single day. This means he is still the fastest evolving character in Dragonball. The Saiyans had to train for a year to catch up to him and even than they needed an emotional trigger to be pushed over the edge. While Frieza jumped a massive distance in the span of three months of training Cell did, I’d like to say about 20 to 25% of that in terms of power levels (when considering the current scaling)  inside a day and than caught up to Gohan again in a matter of minutes.

Like basically every bug type in the pokémon game he does need some set up though. While he outlevels the Z-fighters on his first arrival he is not that much of a threat until his plans begin to work. He needs to absorb people for strength first, which he was able to do and throughout his saga he needed boosts to reach his maximum potential. That is also how bugs work. They hinder your opponent while they set up a boost for themselves. So in the end this type does seem to work in his favor.

The Team

Signature Pokémon:  Silvally (Any Type)

Silvally is a pokémon that was created to save the world by combatting the Ultra Beasts, which are the Eldritch Abominations of the pokémon world. While some may find my continuing statement an exaggeration, they are all extremely odd creatures that are quite hard to describe or fathom, (except for Buzzwole maybe) that live outside space and time that have the ability to drive you insane. Silvally’s  pre-evolution Type: Null at least was created to combat these creatures. For this Pokémon to be able to defeat the Ultra Beasts they build it from the cells of pokémon of all the types with the idea behind it that it could switch on the fly to be resistance while defending and super effective while attacking against this threat from outside time and space. An ultimate fighter that is made from the cells of others, where have we heard that one before?!

Oh right it fits Cell quite well, yet Cell wasn’t created to defend the world. Or was he?  While most of this is hearsay or ‘after-information’ made in interviews years after the source material, Dr Gero (the creator of Cell) arguably was not a bad guy. As a former member of the Red Ribbon Army, and having lost his son in said army, assumably to Goku, Gero saw Goku as a huge threat to his world. He created the androids to stop that treat to the world. Now of course all of them sort of turned into homicidal maniacs in one timeline or another, except for 16 which was based on Gero’s son. Cell blinded by his arrogance lost his calling somewhere along the way but like Silvally he was created with a semi-noble purpose. I mean I can’t even deny that Goku IS the treat to the world Gero saw him as.. he got the earth destroyed a few times and even risked being wiped out of existence as an entire universe just for thrills. So Silvally and Cell nicely parallel each other, the same type of abilities, the same type of being one having found friendship, silvally needs friendship to evolve, the other one releasing the power of his ego.  A great pairing.

Physical Sweeper: Accelgor (Bug Type)

Accelgor is one of my favorite bug type pokémon, alongside Galvantula and Ariados.. which arguably are arachnids and not bugs. This one makes the list due to it’s high speed which resembles Cell’s method of fighting. When Trunks introduced us to Super Saiyan Grade 3 (not to be confused with Super Saiyan 3.. which is something different)  we saw a shift in tone for power-ups. While Grade 3 overpowered Cell, it became to bulky and lacked the speed to stop him properly. With the term Grade 3 is never mentioned in the anime .. let’s just call it Super Saiyan Swole. Swole Trunks got his Mudbray (the Arse Pokémon) handed to him by a much faster Cell.

While Accelgor prefers special attacks, the same can be said for Cell. He is very much a Ki blast user and Accelgor favors special attacks. Yet both have respectable enough physical traits (in Accelgor case should you focus on them) Both Cell as Accelgor have Moxie and with the ability Guts Accelgor can really put out a great Facade, which seems something also quite befitting of our bugman.  In its own way Accelgore can even be pretty swole!

Physical Wall: Forretress  (Bug-Steel type)

Cell has been known to take quite a bit of violence without flinching an inch. Be it by completely absorbing vegeta’s neck shatter kick, or even taking a saw blade to the neck, (which somehow does physical damage opposed to how other ki blasts work) he has shrugged it all off.  Forretress is the evolved pinecone pokemon whos is a bug with a skin as hard as steel. Which is quite fitting for the man we are talking about today.

Forretress basically likes to control the arena where he builds something with rocks , much like how cell did when he built and destroyed his own little arena for the games.  Having access to Rapid Spin as well as Stage Hazards the Steel Ball pokemon can make or build his own arenas as well. This is not the reason why it is included on this list though, the reason why Forretress is on the list is because it’s endgame is quite similar to Cell.

In Pokémon games Hazards can not be set up indefinitely. Depending on which Hazard you can set up one to to three stacks per Hazard, yet set hazard still takes up an entire move slot. After those hazards are in place the pokémon becomes virtually useless. Fortress however is a hazard setter who learns a particular move that Cell also used near the end of the Cell games. The move explosion! While Cell uses this move he even puffs up almost like a ball.. much like this Pokémon.

Special Sweeper: Lucario (Fighting Steel type)

While Cell’s physical fighting style is closest to Picollo his special moves he mostly borrows from Goku. Lucario is Special Sweeper (yes his special attack stat is higher than his physical one) that resembles their style quite a bit. Lucario and Goku share quite a similar moveset. Both have the after image technique (Double Team for Lucario) both can create blinding Sunlight (Solar Flare for Goku and Sunny Day for Lucario)  Both have stats multipliers (Kaioken for the human and Calm Mind/Swords dance for the pokémon. They can even both transform into a more powerful state with Lucario being a pokémon with a mega evolution. Arguably Dragon Fist and Giga Impact are ultimate finishing moves and the only thing that Lucario seems to be lacking is the Spirit Bomb.

Yes he does have the Kamehameha, that’s why he is on this list as the technique is Cell’s de facto offensive move as well. It is called Aura Sphere and it is EXACTLY the same thing. Literally the ONLY difference between the two is that one is a beam and the other is a sphere.  Aura sphere is made out of one’s on inner energy , Aura as pokémon calls it is basically the same thing as Ki in dragonball. It is gather from within the user and hurled at the enemy in an attack that never misses. Aura Sphere is the Kamehameha Wave to a fault. Plus having a fighting type on this team that is able to transform as well seems to fit Cell quite nicely as well.

Special Wall: Reuniclus (Psychic Type)

While this Pokémon isn’t particularly specially bulky it is okay at that job because of his high health stat and more than passable special defence but it will struggle against powerhouses. Much like Cell who has been blasted into pieces quite a few times during the Cell games. He doesn’t take special attacks that well. However I did not pick this pocket monster for the time traveling insectoid just because of their shared mediocrity. Reuniclus is the final form of the Cell Pokémon Solosis. The fully evolved pokémon is called the multiplying pokémon.  This means that the pokémon canonically is able to produce new cells or versions of itself . Quite like how Cell is able to produce miniature versions of himself called Cell Junior. A fun detail in this is that while the regular evolution line has a green (gelatinous) skin much like the antagonist that serves as it’s master, the shiny counterpart is blue.  Pokémon can get shiny from multiplying so Reuniclus could technically, maybe create blue juniors as well.

The hidden ability of the pokémion is called regenerator and what do you know.. that is Cell’s main defensive ability as well. Both of them can regenerate as well. So a bulky cell pokémon that can create blue offspring that doesnt take special hits to well but can regenerate?  That seems like quite a perfect pokémon for Cell.

Legendary: Mewtwo (Psychic Type)

A perfect lifeform and another perfect lifeform walk into bar and one says to the other ‘you are coming home with me tonight’ The second perfect life form scoffs and says ‘Why do you think that’ to which the first replies ‘I got some Masterballs with your name on them’ Now bad jokes aside, was there ever any doubt that Mewtwo would be the perfect legendary for Cell? Both created in a lab, both believed to be the perfect life form, both grown in a test tube for many years with the DNA of the most powerful creatures around. Even English Dub Mewtwo and Perfect Cell’s motivations are quite similar. Feeling they are a superior species they want to eliminate the unworthy. In case of Mewtwo that just happens to be Pokémon that serve humans as well as humans themselves and in case of Cell it’s ..everything that is not him. Mewtwo can transform beyond his perfect form and in Dragon Ball Online as well as some Dragon Ball Heroes arcade machine we have seen bugboy do the same.

Cell like Mewtwo is great at manipulating minds, seeing how he managed to trick Vegeta in letting him obtain his perfect form. Of course in a straight up fight between Mewtwo and Cell the later would win, because Bug types beat Psychic types.. so there is that question solved. Besides being their respective universes ultimate life form though they both have one more commonality that is too good not to mention. Both  Mewtwo (Game version and to a lesser extend the movie version) as well as Cell have been beaten by a ten year old boy!

Question to my Readers:

Which Villian (or Hero) would you like me to profile next?

When you fight Cell be warned he is a lot tougher than me, and less likely to play fair. Bring plenty of Fire types when facing Cell and make sure of them at least one of them is a Mega Houndoom that you don’t use against Lucario and you should be fine. Bring a Delphox for Lucario..or like a Chandelure and Cell will go down!

Trainer Profile: Myself

Top of the day to ya dear Watsons! Much like last time on Detective Pinkie  we will profile an individual and review their trainer class preferred type and their team of six. I asked for suggestions  for fictional or less fictional people to use. Unfortunately we got no suggestions so I picked someone I am fairly familiar with. Today we will be reviewing myself.

Trainer Class: Fairy Tale Girl

Not good enough to call myself an ace trainer, not insane enough to call myself a hex maniac, the trainer class that fits me best is known for their pink dress and usage of the fairy type. For those of you who have actively read at least one of my blogs right now this should already start to make a bit  of sense. Yet the Fairy Tale Girl fits me for a lot of other reasons as well. Introduced in the Kalos region , which is the pokémon variant of France it’s about as close to home as I will ever get. Technically Britain might be closer but where I live I can be in Paris within a few hours. About five or so, London would still take me more. Kalos trainers do like fashion and good foods and sitting with their friends in one of the many café’s.  For a geek I am fairly social and so are the Fairy Tale girls… sure will not call you as often as Youngster Joey but we are fun to play and battle with. Kalos is also home to the battle mansion, Fairy Tale girls who pop up inside there use a mix of Psychic , Fairy and Normal types. Two of which are among my top 3 favorite types, Psychic types I also like to use, however I feel they are a bit to overhyped. A lot of fairy types share dual typings with the psychic variant though and before the pink type appeared, I was a devout follower of the classical purple psychic type. Quite playful .. waaay younger in mind than in body and fascinated by tiny lights magic and of course fairy tales would make me perfect to fit this archetype.  I like ribbons and frills and dressing up. I allow myself to partially live in a fantasy world simply so I enjoy myself more. While I am not naive I would say I was schooled by naivety. Not overly ambitious nor competitive I participate in the world , as well as Pokémon, because I think its fun.

Preferred Type: Fairy Type

Now there is a surprise, my preferred type is the actual type that I ranked 1 in a top 5? Geesz.. talk about a fastball here. But my dear little Watsons fear not because there is more to it than just me liking it. Fairy types are weak to poison and steel types. while being strong against darkness dragon and fighting. As a pacifist I go out of my way that every situation I resolve is done without violence. To this day I have only punched someone once.. waaay back when I was a little kid. People have wanted to beat me up but I always outsmarted them or managed to charm my way out of physical altertrications. In a punching battle I’ll cry and faint at the first hit but I will make pretty sure you do not get the chance to do so. Whether it is through trickery or charm … I usually come out on top.  Darkness and Dragons also face a lot in real life. Darkness is the depression I see in a lot of my friends and family and even me… I don’t have an immunity for it. Yet to many people I am a confidant.. people share their trouble with me, even when they know little about me.. people share their worries with me. I will do my utmost best to help you overcome that darkness in your soul as well and usually I succeed. A lot of people have actually suggested me going into the psychology trait yet unfortunately I lack the means to take on a study. I just help people for free then, means I get more time for my friends anyway. Dragons to me are the obstacles we encounter in daily life. My motor functions are below average, my heart is weak , I regularly have no money and quite honestly with a distant father, a sickly mother and a sister in a very bad place right now.. there is plenty of obstacles in my way already. Then there are my own issues as well, but those I won’t go into right now. Yet every day I wake up with a smile happy to write a new blog or go have some fun with friends.  Dragons do not define me nor do they affect me all that much. It’s something I have to deal with for sure but never will they make me a different person than I already am.

Onto the weaknesses of the fairy type being poison and steel. The first is quite easily a weakness of mine as well. Being of weak constitution any cough or flu bug can really bother me but being whimsical little me what really bothers me is toxicity in the figurative sense of the word. A few friends gave me Overwatch so I could play with them but the moment I logged on myself to try and learn the game to impress them.. I got so much negativity for not knowing how to play D.Va it ended with me vomiting while the game was deinstalling. I tried to play League of Legends with a friend, whom went toxic when I messed up, he told me some horrible things in sheer rage, I dodged seeing him for months and was super stressed about it, he could not even remember… So yeah.. I am weak to that. The steel type weakness is reflected in me not caring about cool metallicy stuff. I hate knights, vikings, cars, mandalorians, armor, blacksmithing. When someone has a knights code.. or follows any form of warrior tradition I tune out completely. A friend talked to me about warhammer 40k once talking about their weaponry their codes and beliefs and the warriors honour etc, I apparently listened to the man for the entire evening.. and can not remember a single thing about it.. I completely blanked out I don’t even remember being bored… I was just gone but smiling.

The Pokémon Team

Signature Pokemon : Sylveon (Fairy Type)

My favorite pokémon is also my signature pokémon, yet again completely unsurprising, if any of you even read the post about my favorite pokémon it was one of the very first I posted on the website. Yet if you read the Trainer Profile of last week you notice I don’t just pick a pokémon on a simple fact alone, there has to be a resemblance to the trainer as well.  Sylveon and I were both raised in a loving home. While sometimes I doubt if my father feels this way, mother I have zero doubts about. In fact I don’t even doubt dad loves me.. he just might not love me in a loving way? Regardless, mother is like a saint who showered me with a lot of love as I grew up. So I could definitely evolve into a Sylveon.. if they would actually LET me is a bit of a complex story for which I do not have the time here, because I also want tell you how I am all about love.  Friendship is magic is one of my personal catchphrases and I try to keep my friendships healthy. I love the people close to me.. yet I am not afraid to let go. Love is unconditional and even if some friends have turned out to be humongous Grasshole (thank you Pokémon Clover) I do not love them less for it. They gave me some amazing moments and even if we are unable to happily spend time together nothing will take away the gratefulness and love I have for those wonderful moments they gave me.  Also I am pretty darn good at putting on some Baby Doll Eyes.

Physical Wall: Luvdisc (Water)

Luvdisc is a weak little heart and that fits me quite well.  Not only do I have a weak little heart myself, my HP stat isn’t that high and I am quite fragile to physical things. I can get seasick from floating in the sea on my very own back, I can harm my neck just by getting up out of my chair and I can physical adversity always seems only one step away.. Though I have never broken anything I had some pretty weird injuries, like every single toe bruised because a goose attacked them, I had a volleyball bruise all my fingers (both hands excluding thumbs)  at once and I threw my back out while cringing in pain because a forklift truck drove over my foot!.. So yeah I am weak and frail like luvdisc .. and my heart is like well just like the tiny heart shaped pokémon. Yet luvdisc is someone who is there for you in it’s own way, in its vulnerability it drops an item called heart scales, which in the pokéverse allows other pokémon to remember previous or hidden moves. Because going skiing with me equals death for me , and because playing a game of soccer results into me being crippled for a few days after.. i’ve always preferred to spend time with my friends in a bit more tranquility. We talk I’ve become the group psychologist in a way. At times I have to remind them who they are, something that has been actively asked of me,  or help them find their strength again when they lose it. So In a way my love is like a Heart Scale. So Luvdisc and me are a pretty good match!….Oh and we are both flat!

Physical Sweeper: Magikarp (Water)

A long time ago a friend sang a song about me , how utterly physical incapable I am. I just flop and fumble around, just like Magikarp whom we talked about earlier on this site. I once had to box in highschool and I was knocked out by the tiniest girl in class because of how I was flailing.  When someone is asking to help them move I get skipped.. because I CAN help you get rid of stuff.. if you want to keep it , your probably better of asking someone else. I guess a Magikarp Gijinka ( human form anime like person thingy) would be a Dojikko.. like me. That’s a difficult weeb word for Klutz-Archetype-Girl. I broke a boat once.. well it’s railing. I held it in such a cramped manner that somehow I broke it.. in two spots..(sat at different places)  of course this resulted into that part of the railing sinking and some turkish boater looking at me REALLY angrily but hey I broke a metal rod in half… twice.. while not even trying, while feeling miserable. (I get sea sick while floating on an aircraft in a pool let alone on a fast boat) Kind of like how Magikarps flail attack works. While I am helpless on my own , my dads words as much as mine, my friends seem to be able to push me beyond my limits. I’ve danced on a small ledge seven meters/21 feet in the air on some scaffolding..without dropping. I have passed ONE running gym class (because a friend buffed me)  and I managed to climb a rope , which I never could before. Now these might not seem like big feats but due to my weird muscle and movement disorder these are quite legendary achievements for myself. Climbing that rope up all the way to the ceiling feels like one shotting Rayquaza, to pass the shuttle run test felt like beating the mighty mewtwo and dancing while not falling from scaffolding felt like conquering Ultra Necrozma himself. Sure I might have ended up blacking out from running after I got the passing grade, and I might not have fallen of that scaffolding but I can’t say the same about that rope and I might have hurt me still while climbing down the scaffolding .. but that is besides the point. My friends made me greater than I would be able to be myself and I manage to beat big obstacles that way just like that fish. Friendship is magic.

Special Wall: Chansey (Normal)

It’s pink, it dies a lot slower then you expect it too, it’s all about helping others and it hates children so much it keeps tossing it’s own egg. This is a good summary of me, with the exception that I do not throw my eggs about … even if I did they would not land where I’d aim them anyway..as well as it would be kinda lewd and I don’t do lewd stuff. Chansey is one of my all time favorite pokémon ever and it fits me very well as a person as well. Chansey’s role is to survive a lot of special attacks. No mind games can break Chansey and I am the same. Sticks and stones will break my bones.. even if they are just there on the floor, but mind games not so much. Sure you can be openly toxic to me and I crumble like Betty White on a trampoline, but try to play me and you get nothing. Special tricks do not harm me and I am to dense  and panda to understand flirting and innuendo. You can call me out on what or who I am, call me names and i’ll stand tall. Link it to something and I crumble. ‘Hey your a girl.. means you are a slut’ I can handle. ‘You can’t write for shit.. but you do it anyway because you are so full of yourself’ will make me cry my eyes out. … I might have been better off had i not told you that. I can face adversity well enough let’s keep it at that , despite being faced with a lot of adversity in the more intangible regions I still stand here. Chansey is like that as well having incredible longevity and durability against the non physical. We both cosplay..though I don’t get away as easy when cosplaying as a nurse. We both are pink and both of us like making others feel better. Finally both of us are on our best while we don’t fully grow up. Chansey is more durable than her evolution while holding an item called Eviolite,  and I am just much more charming like this.

Special Sweeper: Gardevoir (Psychic-Fairy)

Being a Psychic Fairy-Type Gardevoir is both cute and smart. I’d like to say the same thing about myself. Like Gardevoir I do like mind games. Board game night with friends is particularly fun for me , because I do not only play the games, I play my friends as well. I must admit I am pretty darn good at it too. While playing the zombie survival game dead of winter I can tell which of my friends are a betrayer through the subject we talk about during the game. While playing Munchkin I notice if someone can stop my attack by the way they hold their cards. After which I can play them around, I managed to manipulate the munchkin player into thinking the right play was to help me..because I made the number two come after me hard, who also had a chance at winning. I made the betrayer think I was a betrayer as well  asking him for a hand out of items (which you can do in that game) and revealing his betrayal. They were gonna exile me after my turn because they believed I was a traitor yet I ended up saving the game. I am very good at play into each other’s mind games like Dixit and Mysterium as well. I just love it. Playful being Gardevoirs Fairy typing and the Psychic Typing explaining the mind games. We are both very girly as well, share about the same skin pigmentation. Physically we both aren’t a presence but mentally we can blow you away!

 Legendary: Mew (Psychic)

When you can’t find us there is quite a possibility you can find both or any of us under a truck. In my case for different reasons than Mew’s though.  Joking aside, I chose Mew as my legendary because we are both the creators of world’s . While arguably Arceus has created the world and the legendaries created the land, the sea, the sun the moon and all that jazz respectively.. Mew created Pokémon life… without the little bugger it would just be another world. I like to write stories create my own worlds, not only as a blogger but also as a dungeon master. Having finished a Digimon campaign, having ended a Star Wars campaign and currently hosting an Contemporary- Anime-Eldritch, High Fantasy & Pokémon game I like Mew like to create plenty of life forms. From the depths of my mind they all come to existence and to life as each week me and my friends gather to enact these stories.  They are my pride and joy and much like my blogs my babies. Mew creates content for me to blog about, I make Mews creations come to life in a new way. Be it a Fairy-Type tale or in a design for my very own pokémon game. We are pink cute creationary forces..although I am not legendary………………………………………………yet.

Profiling myself was a hoot and a half! Do you have a character or person you like to see profiled let me know in the comments or at least leave a like.  I hope to see you in the next post my little Watsons!

Top 5: Rookie Trainer Mistakes

-Disclaimer: Princess Pinkie is a persona made for entertainment purposes, any feelings she holds towards other people do not reflect my true feelings-

Well now that this website it’s finally fit for a princess it is about time someone with taste took over these top 5’s. I am Princess Pinkie and in the banner you see my court jester. Iamwright is a shiny aipom. In Princess Pinkie’s Picks, I rank , rate evaluated and berate. A woman of my tastes deserves to be number this job. As my first job I will look at the plebeians and their silly mistakes. It feels me with joy that I am able to tell you how wrong you are, I might even make you a slightly better trainer! Not as great as me of course… but it is nice to help you poor lost souls

Mistake Number 5: Getting a full team early game

Though not applicable to a few fan games like the excellent Pokémon Reborn in the original series you might not wanna catch them all straight from the start. So many poor dumb souls started Gen 1 with Charmander, then caught Pidgey and Rattata, added a Nidoran to their team as well, just to pick up a bug in Viridian forest. Of course you want to level them all equally and when you reach the first gym you notice that guy is super high level. Squinty Mc Squint face whoops your ParASS and you are back at Joy’s place, the pokémon center. Though not impossible it makes for a tedious game of grinding. Especially when you are still learning the ropes it can make the game feel way less fluent that it needs to be. This goes for basically every generation of games. Though it can be great fun to make a team of early game Pokémon, they do need a little more love and understanding so it’s best not to fill up on Pokémon to early.  Trying to complete your pokédex as you go by training everything you find up right away can be disheartening and to be honest a bit dull. It won’t even result into good pokémon due to how effort values work. Training against random pokémon results in random stat boosts, which is not the greatest thing in the world. For a normal playthrough of a new game I tend to start out with a team of two for the first gym and store the rest of what I caught. Then for each following gym I add a new team member. Of course I am a princess and therefore also a brilliant mind but I can tell you that by leveling this way you are in for a nice ride, where things are neither hard nor ridiculously easy. It means you actually can grow to appreciate your team members and be much more invested in getting their movesets right. You don’t have that many others to fallback on yet you also do not have to grind for hours. A nice variation for the earlier games is not picking adding an actual teammate after the second gym but adding a hm slave instead. Which brings me to my next subject.

Mistake Number 4: HM Crippled Team members.

Did you pick the water starter in each region?  Well at least up to Alola. Chances are you are the scum that made the mistake I am talking about next. Ruining perfectly good pokémon with HM’s. The abbreviation stands for Hidden Machine and these are pokémon to not only use a move inside battle, they can use it to interact with the world as well.  Cutting down trees, illuminating dark caves , moving rocks and cruising around on the ocean are but some of the possibilities. However here is a thing you might not know… quite a few of these moves are completely outclassed by regular moves. Surf is good in double battles but blown out of the water by Hydro Pump, Cut is truly horrible as a move and Strength while passable can’t hold a candle to a maxed out Return or Frustration. Though dropping accuracy isn’t a bad idea.. flash is not the ideal way to go. You can’t overwrite HM’s. So if your Blastoise suddenly learns Hydro Cannon while knowing Surf, Flash, Waterfall and Strength you can not get that sweet sweet move. Your Pokémon , thanks to your lack of insight is now doomed to a life of mediocrity. Of course you can totally reverse it, all you have to do is visit the move deleter to delete a HM, then if you want it to relearn a move it just wanted to learn you will have to go catch a luvdisc which usually only appears on a single route in the game. Then it has a 50% chance to hold an item called a heart scale, which you will have to trade in to relearn a single move. Those who managed to slap to many hidden machines onto their pokémon in the first generation were really far from home, with no move deleter in the entire game those pokemon were forever ruined. For this very reason the concept of a HM-Slave was introduced. This is a pokémon you take along just so it can learn the weaker machines so that those moves don’t hinder your team. Bidoof is by reputation the perfect slave. So when you distribute the moves that allow you to progress to the world try to stay clear of teaching your main team to many of them..it can really bring down your battle capabilities. Hidden Machines, named Secret Machines have been a necessary evil throughout generations 1 till 6 that have luckily since have vanished for better alternatives. So for those playing the newer games, you can’t make that mistake anymore. Wait if we in the west used the terminology used in Japan.. would that have meant Bidoof was the perfect SM-slave?

Mistake Number 3: Capturing something stupid with your masterball

The Masterball is the holy grail of the pokemon world, a ball fit for a princess like me. A sleek purple design with some pink dots give it an air of finesse and refinement. Had those colours been inverted it might as well have a P on it instead of an M because it would have been totally made for Pinkie.  Yet some of you do not appreciate it’s true power! This capturing tool, has the power of being able to catch any pokémon without fail. That means you should really reserve it for that legendary like mewtwo or zy-…. ‘omg it’s a PIKACHU’ *throws masterball*. I saw my sister make this mistake, to this day i still shiver at the weak mindedness and the buffoonery that shares the same blood with your highness Princess Pinkie! I however hold no doubt that if my kin is able to make this mistake you as my reader can and no doubt will have as well. How many Mewtwo’s or Arceus will have gotten away because people are unable to read or grasp a simple concept is unknown. As a flawless being and never having made this mistake myself I will never understand your struggles, but know that I do pity you. To give myself an extra challenge I have taken on legendaries without this wonderful item as well, it can be an arduous endeavor if you do not fully know how capturing works. Should you not capture changes are only increased or decreased based on a pokémom being in red, yellow or green health.. alongside the question if they are statussed or not one might go over zealous and accidentally faint the legendary, which let’s face it.. basically equals flat out killing it off. So use that grey matter before using your masterball.

Mistake Number 2: Giving your rival a dumb name.

Even as a kid, I wasn’t that infantile. One of my biggest pet peeves when watching let’s plays..is the inadolencent names people tend to give their rival. Though it seems like fun at first it can really ruin the tension of the later rival battles if DOUCHE suddenly shows up to challenge you. For those who just smiled at the idea.. imagine me staring disapprovingly at you. Your rival is really important in these games. He or she contributes to your story and development as a trainer. How cool is it to be challenged by Champion Gary ‘Mother Playing-Together’ Oak. Your Rival and someone you gained respect for along the way. Now imagine that same battle for the title but against ‘IC WIENER’ It lacks the same emotion, it can make your journey seem so much more flat and since it’s oftenly one of the last battles of the main game… it can really end on a low. Imagine that battle against Wally at the end of Victory Road at ORAS, that epic theme beginning to play,, you know you have helped Wally capture his first pokémon.. you are his senpai,,who is stronger the master or the student .. the clash of the ages! You see him posing, for the first time with a confident look on his face.
Then your text prompt appears ‘Asthma Boy’ wants to battle. All the tension and build up .. all the development gone.. because you tried to be funny! The first time you battle you might find it funny, good for you but poor humanity if you still like the joke at your second encounter. At one point there WILL come a moment where you regret what you did to your game.  You know there is no way back..and your rival is now forever ruined.. something eats and your heart as you enjoy the game less. Who is the douche now?!

Mistake number 1:  Not knowing what a glitched pokemon is.

We have all tried it… even I am guilty of this one..I figured my game would obey it’s princess!. We talked to the old man in Viridian city then flew to the cinnabar islands  and surfed along the east coast to encounter the fabled Missingno! Maybe you even egg-glitched Celebi into existence. You could encounter Deccamark in Hoenn. Pokémon games are so filled with glitches it can feel like Todd Howard made them.  It’s fun to play around with them, however while encountering a glitched Pokémon, there is one important rule you need to adhere to. Do NOT capture it. These Pokémons ruin and corrupt your game into a broken mess. I indeed have captured the scrapped-data pokémon from generation. I even evolved it into a Kangaskhan knowing wing attack and water fun by giving it a rare candy! I valiantly used it to try Mew’s truck to no avail. Suddenly my box system began to loop infinitely. My game would crash or friends in my box would vanish.  Catching a glitched pokemon is a very bad idea. It breaks your game and can ruin everything you have come to know and love.
This mistake makes it to the number one spot because it’s easy to do and can actually break your game where the others will just kill your enjoyment.

However I did not name this mistake ‘catching a glitched pokemon’ but making it about not being able to identify that one. The reason for that is because some people reset their game when a pokemon is not the right colour.  They think their game is glitched turn of their system and erase that extreme rare shiny they encounter off the face of the pokemon world. These people….Some people who want shinies have never encountered one in their lives.  The resetters, somehow so a perfectly working pokémon, a nice sparkly effect and still think… well that’s bad lets reset. That’s not how these games work.. it can not randomly hueshift! Arceus who art in heavens have mercy on them. Even krill has more active brain cells. Resetting a shiny on accident happens, especially if you are soft resetting a lot and get into that flow, it is a possibility Thinking a shiny is a glitch .. almost feels like tossing away a lottery tickets worth a thousand bucks..just because you did not win the million.

How many of these mistakes did you make when you just started? Do you have another Pokémon mistake? Let me know in the comments!
Remember I am not weird! Just really pink!
Until we read again!

Top 5: Best Pokemon Trainers

Happy 30 July little monsters! No nothing really special about this day, though on this date Vanuatu got their independence so yay for them, but I just want to celebrate each day! Today it’s Tuesday so that means I am writing a brand new top 5 for you. Today we will discuss the the top 5 best Pokémon trainers in the world of Pokémon. Please note I am not necessarily referring to the strongest Pokémon Trainers. Tobias having  access to legendaries would easily make that list, however strong Pokémon do not make you a good trainer none of your partners do. With this list we consider a trainer’s capabilities and impact on their pokemon not their team.

5. Ash Ketchum
In fairness , Ash is not a bad trainer, not anymore at least…well  not truely anyway.
Sort…off…maybe. It really depends on perspective. He would have been higher on this list if it wasn’t for the soft reset he has gotten after Kalos to be honest. Of course he would never be number one, because Ash never wins. What makes Ash a good trainer though, in my opinion much stronger than Gary, any other rivals he had or even Tobias is ts the fact that he doesn’t rely on power alone. Time and time again,  Ash has shown to be able to think outside the box. Ash is one of the few trainers, aside from maybe his companions at times that has shown he is able to think outside the box. He, not only his Pokémon influence their battle. His love for his team is always great, yet how he treats his team is ls also a reason why I’d consider him for bad trainers as well. His willingness to set pokemon free, is not necessarily a good thing. Maybe it’s even worse for those he just puts in Oaks garden. Poor Bulbasaur must be bored by now and miss it’s master. Yet Ash also managed to invent/obtain an (mega)evolution method of his own trough an intense bond with his Pokémon. Which he then abandons , but this doesn’t diminish the feat that Ash impact on his Pokémon literally allowed them to synchronize.. and become one to a certain point. Ash has shown an unwavering resolve to go ahead. No matter how many times he loses, he will not give up until he succeeds. He is loved by his Pokémon, and even developed a unique power.
He is however a horrible person, who does not honour his bonds, refuses to give up and in the process constantly gives up on his friends.

Ash has died 8 times! He lost more liives than Pokémon Leagues

4. Lillie
A bit of an odd choice, because Lillie is not a very accomplished trainer. She isn’t particularly smart, clever or even brave. Yet Lilie has one thing going for her that puts her above many of the trainers on  this list. Her reasons to become a trainer. Lillie’s journey is one of self improvement , to overcome herself rather than to overcome the world. She doesn’t want to beat the Pokémon League she wants to conquer herself. This in my eyes is an excellent motivation to become a trainer, she fights for herself and not in a selfish way. Her Pokémon will never be disposable tools for her, to feel the excitement of a new journey again. Her catches become friends who help her become a better person. Her goals are way more achievable, which is both rewarding for her and her partners. Lillie’s progress stays. Let’s compare it with Ash’s for a moment where his dream is to become a Pokémon master. If Ash gets a badge, it’s a nice moment because it’s one step closer to his goal, but as soon as he loses the league, the achievement of the badge is invalidated as in the end it did not get Ash his goal. This invalidation he even uses on his Pokémon. Greninja was great to attempt the league with… oh I lost.. well let’s try again. Goodbye my friend.
Lillie is nearly the exact opposite of that. When Lillie finally is able to touch Vulpix, that achievement will never be invalidated. Vulpix’s help and love, will forever have contributed to Lillie’s s goals. She gives her partners a significance and reward that no other trainer can. She will not impact the world, but she impacts everyone around her and it’s nice to see a trainer who knows that is good enough.

Lillie is very precious! But each time we hang she keeps telling me to get in the bag for some reason.

3. Alain
A man who recognised Ash as his superior in every way, ended up taking a higher spot then him? Why? Well it’s mostly because of the character Arc Alain was given in both the mega-evolution specials and the main series. Alain’s journey was all about the Mega Stones. Starting out as the assistant of Professor Sycamore, he gathered a lot of knowledge about pokemon themselves as well as mega-evolutions. His defeat at the hand of Lysandre for the raw mega-stone changed him though and showed him he needed to be stronger. Which at the time was true as well. Lysandre having made false promises to use the power of mega-evolution for the good of mankind, also gave Alain a much nobler reason to become strong then Ash. Alain wanted to improve the world, a goal that pushed him to his limits. He removed his close friend Mairin from his life in order to get the goal he needed. Again much like Ash, but Alain was more upfront and honest about it. He told her she would hold him back, not as nice as Ash does it but more sincere and fitting of his goals. Alain throughout his journey had much more to lose, like how Lysandre would take back his Mega-Stone if he did not win ten fights in a row. He is a trainer that has been pushed more and pushes his pokémon more. Yet that is not necessarily bad. Allain is the trainer he needs to be when he needs to be, he can adapt and make hard choices. Much more focussed than his rival as well. In the end Alain gets a redemption arc when he found out Lysandre’s trough goal, once more actively learning from it.. in comparison to how Ash is much more a passive learner. When Ash learns something, he just uses that knowledge. When Allain learns things he adapts himself as a trainer. Allowing him to be much more dynamic. Him giving up his mega-stone in the end and resetting like Ash does a lot, is not without reason like with Ash. He actually gives things up to become better as the trainer Alain is. In my eyes making him a perfect version of Ash. One that deserves to hold the championship position over the protagonist.

You might say that compared to Ash, Alain is a Mega Trainer.

2. Brock
Although being quite the oddball, Brock is one of the best Pokémon Trainers I know.
I would loved to put Cynthia on this list instead but I saw too little of her to judge her as a trainer. With Brock we once more see a trainer with a much more realistic fleshed out goal, of becoming a great Pokémon Breeder. His feeling trapped in being the Pewter Gym leader and having his brothers to take care of , felt like a good pay off to start his journey. Yet what makes Brock truly stand out is his knowledge of the world, brock truly understands pokemon. He can tell their nature by interacting with her, he can tell their abilities and their moves on the most subtle of nuances. This knowledge must come from a great passion for the subject. Brock loves all the monsters, more than anyone in the series does. Not only is he knowledgeable about trivia and facts, he has shown amazing empathy skills towards pokémon. “I think paras is trying to say that it’s scared’, “I think Corsola wants to come with you’. Brock throughout his appearances in the show has been shown to know what a pokémon is thinking. He can make the most amazing food which all pokémon like, once more showing his deep understanding of the creatures. Brock also inspires other trainers, makes them better as well. Ash would not be where he is today without the aid of Brock. He isn’t exactly the strongest of trainers out there and until Sun and Moon his accomplishments on the battlefield weren’t exactly noteworthy. Brock however is respected by everyone. Whether it is for his knowledge about the pokémon, his skill in judging matches, or the amazing food he makes, or first aid he can provide for pokémon, he knows the game very well. Him picking up Olivia and having an actual relationship certainly was nice to see after the overdone flirtation bit. Yet even in that he shows his greatness as a trainer. Because Brock knows there is more in the world than just being a trainer, and he is a better trainer for it.

Brock can out-trainer you with his eyes closed. That’s why he is the pan-ultimate trainer on this list.

1. James
The biggest loser in the entire series is my number one pick. I must have lost my marbles again. Yet there was never any doubt in  the world who I had to put on number one. James shares a lot of the qualities Brock has, being quite knowledgeable about the subject matter. In fact, one can argue that he fills the exact same role as Brock.. on the bad guys side.  Everytime we see an episode from Team Rocket’s perspective, James is the one with the answers. James isn’t even that bad at battling , he doesn’t really win but most of his fights aren’t that official either.  Whenever he does fight the ‘twerps’ one on one it’s oftenly a lot closer than you might think. Like Ash he has been capable of showing some battle awareness, though in his case usually dirty tricks, like Brock he is capable of understanding a lot of species of Pokémon and kind of like Lillie he mostly became a trainer to explore himself. He may not have chosen the right path, he chose that path because he felt trapped in his wealthy family. He renounced everything, so like Alain he was willing to make sacrifices that count, in order to change himself. It got him involved in a life of crime and dishonour but that is more a medium for change then something he inherently is. He shows care for Pokémon, which is also shown in his battling and even machine building style. Koffing never really attacked much, he rarely is trying to cause physical harm he is only trying to escape. The traps they make also rarely focus on taking a Pokémon out. They want to capture them healthily, without much pain. James shows qualities of all the ones earlier on this list, but just doesn’t do them as successfully. Yet whenever James catches or gets a Pokémon it loves him instantly. Pokemon see something in James and adore him. Give James an Eevee and it evolves into Sylveon the second he owns it. He can make pokemon evolve because how much they care for him and their desire to make him succeed. If James would give up on Team Rocket and thusly freeing himself from the narrative restrictions that had to be placed on him, his potential would be near infinite. A trainer whose Pokémon adore him, who can fight dirty/smart, who is blinded by ambition and who is knowledgeable about Pokémon in general. When given freedom this man would definitely be one of the worlds greatest.

Lose the life of crime James, and you’re reach can certainly be extended to the stars above!

Who is your favorite trainer? What makes a good trainer do you think?  If you had to make tea from a grass Pokémon which one would it be and why?
