As you may know Pinkie is a name for not one, but two entities. The Homo-romantic-demi sexual woman of 34.. I mean 21 years old living in the Netherlands who types and styles this blog, as well as Pinkie the name for the virtual entity and avatar. The one who manages the tropical island of Paradise as it’s manager. The author Pinkie sends the character Pinkie on a quest to find an item that would allow her to reach her Mega-Evolution. You see the virtual Pinkie discovered she was a virtual life form that evolved multiple times and as such she discovered she had.. at the very least… one transformation left. Hopefully being rid of the moth toxins would help her feel better and healthier.. which in turn may help the real Pinkie feel better and healthier… but for that whole story click the link here!

Rubber Duck Pink Unicorn Duck buy at Hollandwinkel.NL

If people here really read my blog, or those who chat with me in real life people would answer one of three animals for my spirit animal. A panda, a unicorn or a duck. I figured that the panda elements are always intrinsically tied to me due to my lack of libido or grasp innuendo. Since a duck model might be too hard to make I chose to go with the only feasible possibility that will probably mean I am one of the very few people who uses a totem animal like this! I chose for the totem .. that is the majestic unicorn duck! Yet something else needed to change. Over the past year or so I have always portrayed Pinkie as the manager that blogs daily and works hard. I had very much trouble letting that image, I needed something a little bit extra. Someone who is not afraid to coast from blogging every now and again… a flavour excuse ..against my morality saying skipping a day is wrong as it were.. it turns that flavour was changing her from a manager into a Princess.

Which brings us to the new model of Pinkie which is displayed here!

Look at that, aren’t I adorable? As you may see there are several elements to convey all the elements. Let’s first discuss my lovely new dress! It has a cute frock with hearts, and looks quite a bit more regal! I have a gold crown.. but also a silver crown If I want to look a bit more subtle.. you know.. for when I attend a funeral or something. If you hear some cute little pit pats behind you! There is a chance that it is me on my adorable duck feet! Yes I know that will be hard to model in VRoid ..but you’ll never see that part in videos so it doesn’t really matter. There is also duck feathers growing out of me on random places.. but we have found a way to make them all pop out at my diaphragm so it works like kind of a belt.. just below where my corset goes…. the trick is tying the corset so tight I can barely breathe! Another duck element is the cute little duck purse! It is actually a bag of holding so good for all sorts of stuff I need to take out..including power morphers, my magical girl transformation item etc.

The unicorn-horn holds most of my magical powers..but the duck feather pops out there because I am not an equastian unicorn! I am a duck-unicorn. I can fire lasers from it.. like my Mothra power.. but this time rather than use it for sheer destruction I can also turn everything I hit into marshmallows. I have most of my mothra powers. I can fly, am immortal and can create gust of wind.. this time by plucking a feather and tossing it.. it will create a kawaii tornado. The toxic scales are gone though! Instead I can use the magical heart gems on my outfit to heal others.. or make them play nice with me! This is also why violence on Paradise island is not possible at all! Love and peace! I can switch between my forms.. but I really like this one!

Redesigning the blog

A new era comes with a new banner. Yet both Sunny and Periwinkle had a bit troublesome designs to use in a banner. Sunny’s design was made in a variant of the software I used to make the first Pinkie. It looked close enough to Kuro and Indigo though to use as their actual avatar. However it gave me a lot of trouble composition, as it was only a face I would always be locked into a banner where everyone was in that pose. Which will become an issue with STAFF if we ever grow. Periwinkle made his character in the days that Chibimaker was no longer playable and found a similar piece of software but it was too simplistic. Which resulted mostly in linework issues. So I downloaded the program called Flashpoint which allows me to play Flashgames still! It indeed had Chibimaker and thus I created Chibmaker counter parts for them. I had one for Sunny already but now I could unify the style of my staff. This is what I came up with in the end.

New Favicon

I wished to incorporate magical girl and tropical elements in the banner. So I chose a backdrop that feels like a tropical sunset.. but added some sparkles and hearts to also make it feel like a magical girl transformation background. I used a new more princessy font for the title and implemented my brand shade of pink #ff89cd Which is also used for the palm trees.I added the staff and myself to the picture as well as the coconuts.. which also represent the reader and I had a banner I could feel happy with! It feels busy… but very on brand. The border around it is a princessy photo frame that will now be used in several other assets to feel as if separate elements in the blog are all part of the same image, yet also separate.

You may also have seen the chibi version of me hiding behind .. me! I decided to bring her back as a character on the blog. Mostly she will feature in Paradise stories but she also will double as a Mascotte that may appear in pictures I make or in general tomfoolery. Maybe she can be featured in some posts from the past! Or overly jokey posts! Oh the possibilities! She does to bonk people on the head with her jester-wand-scepter thing a lot though so she is oftenly in bonk jail! She keeps escaping though and thinking up pranks! I dread the day that she runs of to K and cooks up something really devious!

The frame used in the banner as said will be a recurring element in most assets. Such as the new cocktails/featured images. Cutting out a round shape for cocktails can be a bit of a hassle and these pictures really did not perform well in my new theme. Instead I opted to go for a more stretched variant, with a cocktail in pink as well as the frame. With an icon depicting what kind of content it is like before. This looks a bit more clean and can be saved as JPEGs rather than PNG’s which also saves me on tons of storage space. I am considering making uniquely coloured variants for the staff, with a cocktail of their own.. but I decided to make these achievements. With a custom coloured frame unlocking after say 50 posts, your custom cocktail at 100 posts! It gives the staff something to strive for! I think that should be fun! The icons will be: A SNES controller for gaming content, a movie reel, for movies and series, a smiley geek for geek content, the crunchyroll logo for anime (open for suggestions for another option for that) a pokeball for pokemon and a typewriter for fan fiction. Not much changes in that aspect. The cocktails that will be posted into every category rather than having a rainbow will have no logo and are deemed universal.

Finally I changed the blog theme to Chronicle, I needed a change up and really liked some features this theme had to offer. Such as highlighted content per category. The ability to use banners of any size and just feeling right for the princessy theme I am now going for. It’s a bit busier than my old theme but it has that “sparkly” feeling for me. Just something new to wear for the next year or so. It still lets me use featured images in the way I want it too but now with stuff zooming and stuff happening. It all feels just a bit more… Pinkie! It doesn’t hurt that this theme can utilize my signature shade of pink either!

Redesigning Paradise

Like I said in my 500th post, content from my end my shift a bit to more lighthearted whimsey. Cartoony.. which applies to my “reviews” as well. I will react to them like a spoiled little princess.. or the sweetest magical girl and look at it from a more raw emotional angle. So think at a sarcastic princess talking about burning down a Uwe Boll movie… or a sweet little girl protecting the childhood memories of a movie that is deemed pretty bad by the internet.. but that she kinda secretly loves. Also a lot more weird “my brain” things where I wonder how pokémon taste and such! For now I have dropped stories like “What Bad Luck, I got reincarnated and now I am a Side Character”. I have Elle’s journey mapped out and one day I might return to it, but it really lacked an audience. Instead I will be doing more stories set in Paradise.. much like how Sunny does, written as stand alone stories..almost comic like. For this very reason I have designed a map of Paradise, which will show you the general layout of Paradise! Which will also be featured in our new About Page. (Pending at the moment of writing)

What doesn’t change though is that we are still welcoming to Staff Members. I post every other day, with Periwinkle having one or two posts every week and the other staff posting incidentally. I will keep looking for STAFF until we basically can consistently put out a post every day of the week again. So mostly in the anime department I am looking for someone who’d like to join the STAFF still, so if you are interested in joining a lovable band of goofs! Feel free to give us a shout! YouTube will be less of a focus for now as my health is recovering, but in time will be implemented more in Paradise. Existing as two sides of the same coin rather than being something separate. Of course Staff members can integrate their other content as well if they wish. I have this dream of people creating content together, all getting a penny of Kofi money or likes in their own way. Everyone is doing their own thing yet doing it together as well. That to me is Paradise.

I am trying to become more active on other peoples blogs again as well and come back to OWLS as soon as the relentless migraine attacks let up. I am pretty active during my daytime but in the evening I get downed pretty hard. So right now I only have half days! My blog comes before OWLS right now.. because to be part of OWLS I need to be able to blog to begin with. So there is that. By all means I should get over this soon though, normally this is a seasonal health thing..but with how weird things have been it all has gone on for much longer. But yes I do plan to be more active in both gamer and anime blogger environments!

Energy is returning to Paradise and I hope to let it show.. both on blogosphere and on the fictional island itself!

Pinkie Recommends: The YouTube Series Series Episode 1: Princess in Japan

Hello my Little Lights! I haven’t been in much of a movie mood lately! Nor did I want to sit through a big series, I just haven’t been into a lot of western content recently at all to be fair.. could it be that it is because I have Kaiju blood running through my veins? I do really prefer East! There is one thing I still like to do a lot though and that is seeing Western Content creators on YouTube! So I will be taking you on a trip between some of my favourite creators on the platform that holds my dreams. However instead of just highlighting the person I decided to pick “series” on their channel that I like. I call it the YouTube Series Series… because I found that funny! … I am a weird Moth… Welcome to the first Episode.

The Content Creator

The Princess in Japan series is done by a YouTuber named Princess Peachie. She started her channel in 2010 and produces content on an irregular basis. She is a geeky lifestyle vlogger, having diverse content such as Lolita Fashion blogs, reviewing Polly Pocket toys and a tour across her home. Peachie doesn’t Vlog in a professional capacity, meaning she doesn’t make a living by it and relies on another job as her main source of income. Her channel has about 71K subscribers so she is like 70.5k followers ahead of your beloved Moth.. and well since I am not even really on YouTube yet, maybe even more! An average video does about 12k likes and between 25 to 75 five people interact on her videos. She is currently ranked 69.366 on the famous Birthday ranking list.

Peachie is a Scottish content creator that I really vibe with because of her witty and humoristic blogging style with a hyper cute aesthetic. She is a big Pokémon fan, she is pretty deeply into D&D and she is a fair bit of a gamer! HEAVILY into animal crossing but recently taking a liking to the Final Fantasy VII remake as well. She is very active on Twitter and I have had some interactions with her that always feel friendly and warm and her person is someone I think I could be easily friends with, had I been Scottish. Though bagpipe music totally makes me anxious so perhaps it is better that I am not Scottish.. also being Peachie’s friend seems to be rather expensive! She is a lovely person who you often see buying gifts for her friends or significant other though. All in all a pretty delightful person to witness on screen, and with some skill in video design she is pretty good in editing as well, showing some more advance stuff such as motion tracking objects onto moving people etc.

The Series to me

By far her most popular content on the channel is the subject I want to talk to you about today.. the Princess in Japan series. As you can imagine by the name! It’s a travel vlog, showing off her adventures while in Japan back in 2018. Though recently she has started editing and putting out Princess in Japan Redux a second season in which she returns to Japan as well. For convenience sake I will treat Redux as part of the same series. I included an episode in this post.. but like always! It won’t show up on reader! In the first series however she travels to Japan with her best friend Jewels, and in the second series she visits the land of the rising sun with her boyfriend. Jewels being a film-girl herself also shoots footage so the first season has a lot more dynamic camera work, showing us a lot more of Peachie in third person while the second season is more of a “first person” travel report. Content also varies slightly as well with Jewels being into a lot more girly things than “The Mister is” As a result though both offer a fairly different take on a trip to Tokyo (and some neighbouring areas).

What makes this travel vlog so special to me is that is is really done by someone like me. So Peachie visits many of the places I would visit. Including the Pokémon Café and Sanrio Puroland. She also visits Disney Tokyo… which I would not visit or the Barbie Café but those are all short and very nice and are super entertaining as well. In all honesty, I don’t think my Japan dream will ever come alive for me, my health is keeping me from working, both Mentally and physically it has issues.. and things need to change for that to properly happen. So Peachie offers me a taste of what I might never see with my own eyes.. trough a lense that is super close to my own eyes. Her content also feels like one of those old school family vacation shoots but with some really fun editing put on top of it. It feels reachable and sincere. She is a huge weeb, and can get pretty socially awkward at times at it is nice to see that side of things. I love virtual YouTubers as well but in Peachie I see a lot of the person I want to be in real life. It offers a sweet little fantasy!

The Series to You

Of course Peachie will not be a proxy to everyone.. yet I still would recommend the show to you all! Why is that?! Because regardless if she is like you or not, Peachie is one of us.. geeks and Otaku. She sees so many interesting things in Japan. Are you into Lolita clothing.. there is an episode where she goes to a weird Mall to get Lolita gear cheap, are you are game nerd? There is an episode that is halfy dedicated to Pokémon. There is a Pretty Cure episode for the anime fans and she does stuff that all of us might find interesting. She visits the Monster Café.. that unfortunately went out of business due to Covid at the start of this year. She visits regular combini’s and talks about how shopping in Japan works. She joins a pack of Harajuku girls. She visits a big tourist Onsen that includes a pain pool. Shinto temples, wearing classical kimonos there is so much to see! I love how often they go and grab little Gachapon to bring home towards their friends for example or how we get a talk about airport bathrooms. Why? Because she just films her trip as she tries to entertain herself. She is having an amazing time rather than to try and entertain us and it really shows! That is the type of content I want to make! I want to have fun and share that with you! I think she can be a great inspiration for anyone who feels like they don’t know what to write or create!

Because Peachie is a small content creator, we do not see her get special treatment, we do not see her yell catchphrases in the lense or pick attractions that will do well in the algorithm.. we see a journey through Japan as we would experience it. No filming in restricted areas and no real knowledge or studied script beforehand. As a girl it is nice to see them get up early.. but snooze their way through their makeup time.. so now they are going to have to find some subway station bathroom to put their makeup on for a day in Disneyland. You see them making plans but then it begins to rain so the plans adapt and we see them walking into a lot more niche places. Places you would never plan to visit during a trip to Japan but might stumble upon! I would never visit the Barbie café for example and I found it a bit creepy and underwhelming.. I think there is one dish on the menu where you eat the clothes of a barbie doll! It is fascinating to see though and it’s nice to see these girls take it on with a massive enthusiasm but also a lot of humor.

My Favourite Episode

Obviously the Episode in which Peachie visits the Pokémon Café is my favourite of them all! There is so much fun to be had in seeing all the Pokémon, seeing the food and seeing Peachie spill her MooMoo milk flavouring almost on the person sitting next to her.. I bet I would do that too! I was delighted to see all the Pokémon toys and hear her apologise to the food shaped like Pokémon, feeling bad she has to tear apart Pikachu’s head and making body gore jokes about it! I felt so connected with her at that moment! She did order the wrong desert as the only correct option is the Jigglypuff Cheesecake of course but I will forgive her for that one! The mimikyu crepe Jewels ate looked delightful as well! After a good Poké-meal they go shopping in the Pokémon Center and Jewels picks up an Alolan Vulpix to check out how it looks, instantly falling in love with it.. she knows she has to buy it now! I would get into that type of situation! The wall of evil Pikachu’s also really got me! I’d need to go in the Pokemon Center DX with a supervisor and without a credit card. Cash only! So much cute stuff to be found!

Later in that same episode they visit a made café, no special treatment for them so they can’t film the whole Moe Moe Kyun ritual thing but at least that made things a bit less cringe to watch. While I would love to go along with the atmosphere while I sit at the table seeing other people do it when you can’t vibe the atmosphere isn’t as swell. Because of rain they also end up in a random shop that sells cute cosplays for dirt cheap so that would be a great encounter for me… though I would have spent all my money in the Pokémon center already! It just highlights two aspects of Japanese culture that I like very much, Pokémon and the Maid/Idol culture so this episode scores high points. The one where she visits the Monster Café and the one with the Onsen are other personal favourites of mine! They are all good but those three I hold closest in my heart. If you want a nice down to earth Japan travel blog with a lot of girly sweetness and innocence poured on top.. be sure to check this creator out! Pinkie Watches a Random Anime 3: Märchen Mädchen

Hello my dear Island Guests! It is time again for me to watch a randomly generated anime! This month Märchen Mädchen came up. A show that scores a lackluster 5.4 out of 10 on MAL. In the comments it seems to be very disliked, both on CrunchyRoll where I watched the first 6 episodes as on MAL. I can see why people would grade it so low.. but for some reason I really really like this show.

Quite often upon a Time

Märchen Mädchen is a show about a young girl named Hazuki! A book nerd with anxiety attacks. Even though she sits at that very same desk in anime as all the other characters sit.. she is very different. She has no friends! None at all! When she gets too socially awkward she has to calm herself by reading novels. She lives with her stepmother who barely has time for her.. and her popular step sister who can be quite harsh to her in Japan. One day she has another of these panic attacks and goes reading in a hamburger restaurant. Already assuming her step mother does not have time for her. When suddenly she finds a mysterious new book she can not open in her purse. At that time a mysterious girl shows up who nobody but her can see. She follows her into a library that is a gateway to another world. There she discovers the girl is actually a “Mädchen” a magical girl that draws her power from a classical story.. and surprise surprise. Hazuki is a magical girl too! Just in time even because a big tournament is about to start and the winning school of magic gets a wish granting magic! As the tournament draws closer we learn some of the darker secrets of these magical powers and how they can easily cause despair.

On Paper this sounds like one of the most generic magical girl anime that has ever been published and it probably is. This anime made my Hoods Entertainment aired in the Winter Season of 2018. It seems to get a lot of hate from the community for it’s visuals and its weird writing and generic plot. I experienced something different myself. Now I shall be the first to admit that I do not really have an eye for solid visuals.. if I am engaged with an anime my brain fills in missing frames, and if I see a face in less detail I auto completed that. I had no trouble with the visuals..except for episode 9, it is one of those episodes like that one episode in Dragon BAll Super people still nag about! I must admit I noticed Episode 9 being super off.. but it happens with deadlines being a thing! It’s horrible yes.. but the show is more than that episode. Overall I enjoyed the visuals.

Henshin Kinda looks like Pokémon Mega Evolution.. so I am game!

Characters do look a bit samey and sometimes I had a hard time to tell who is who.. and sure.. we don’t always get perfectly shaped things.. but I kinda found that neat! The show gets flack for using a lot of archetypes and basing everyone on a fairy tale character could be counted as.. “well there are no original characters here” yet in a way it is designed to feel that way. I can see why people dislike it.. but I can also see why this show chose to go that way. Probably if you measure with grades per category like animation, story, music etc. you end up with an anime with a low grade..but to me this anime shines in all those things we usually do not grade.

Hazuki’s story of power is Cinderella, which is an obvious metaphor but in a way this metaphor also applies to the anime itself.It might look like a commoner that is standing in front of us.. and in a way it is! Yet with a bit of magic that commoner can still conquer our heart.There are a lot of analogies I really liked in this series. Sure the countries participating in the tournament are quite stereo typical and the Americans are not depicted favourably but it really makes sense. This series is about fairy tale or fable culture and America does not really have that. So in this show it is depicted that America usually borrows stuff and does their own thing with it. Every girl uses a fable or a story to draw power from and the Americans have the Match-Stick Girl.. but also Star Wars (though slightly renamed) and Santa Clause.. which is one of my favourites.. her magic is to “gift” her enemies.. the ammo of her weapons.. Santa Clause gets out a Tommy Gun or a Bazooka.. because.. she’s American! I laughed! So yes.. because this series is very much about established work we can see very many tropes happening.. but again.. that is part of it’s narrative. How this story SHOULD go according to all the classics is an intrinsic part of what is being told here! It might not be told all that well..but I found it told super charmingly. As if I am reading an actual Fairy Tale.

Princess Charming

What appealed to me most in this show is the main character. Hazuki Kagimura is a character I relate to a lot! I might not flee in books when I am in stress but the way her mind works throughout this show I found highly relatable.While I do have friends, in that phase of life where she was in I did not really have them either. The questions in her head about how to address a social situation are extremely relatable to me and the whole way she flaps her arms nervously and constantly apologises for being who she is reminds me a lot of myself before I found my magic! I also love the journey she is on! In this anime she discovers that girls who wield the power of the book are destined to live lives like the characters they embody. So it means she will settle down with her prince charming, have a family that doesn’t love her and that she is quite quaint looking but a little bit of magic will draw out her charm. She is Cinderella after all! However she falls in love with a girl and doesn’t want a charming prince. She doesn’t want to be that frail little girl walking around on glass slippers. She wants to be with the person she wants to be with..she wants to write her own story and in doing that.. she encapsules almost everything I stand for! I love that aspect of this show.

*How do you even walk in that outfit Shizuka?!*

To complicate this, her semi-romantic partner or “special friend” as this show prefers to call it..though heavily implying the romance is Shizuka Tsuchimikado.. the wielder of the Moon Princess, or Princess Kaguya fairy tale. A story about a woman who is destined to be alone.
A girl that unlike Hazuki is much more traditional and more inclined to accept her destiny. While it is not very original to tackle a story like this it works for a reason. In my opinion it also works here! Not every story has to be surprising! In fact I dare say that NONE of the classic Fairy Tales are surprising… well at least not the publicly accessible translations and variations. From the moment they met to the very last scene I felt invested in this relationship. Not because it is cleverly done, unique or well written.. no because it felt like a Yuri variation of a Fairy Tale. All those classic stories are not made for the modern world and nowadays can have toxic messages, and that is what this show aims to explore and highlight. This show tells us.. let’s find a modern ending to our classic fairy tales and I support that story and a very soft core lesbian interest while not unique is a perfect method to explore this.

*Why am I weirded out..but a girl still liking an hours old hamburger! I guess she warms it up with magic?!*

I ADORE the voice acting in this movie. Hazuki and Shizuka both have very timid whisper-like voices, they feel frail and exaggerated. Yet without hearing the actual words you can follow the context of their emotion as everything is amplified..almost overacted. The same goes for all the other voice actors. The Brazen character does the shouting voice, the butch woman sounds like an actual man, the somewhat deranged american girl sounds like she is completely insane and the chinese girl has this melody in her voice like she is spouting wisdoms everywhere she goes, sounding like a mentor of a kung-fu movie. The principal is clearly brazen, bold and self confident and while they never really feel like “Real” characters because of it they once again feel very much like Fairy Tale characters. Think of how your mother threw her voice to make someone sound princessy when reading to you from a fairy tale book. The first time I heard Hazuki I was like.. oof this is laid on a bit obvious.. yet if I had to voice Cinderella in a japanese audio version of the classic tale.. this is probably the direction I would take. I really adore everything they do with Hazuki in this show!

A Modern Fairy Tale

Like I said earlier this show goes to great lengths to establish it wants to be a modern retelling. Hazuki makes this very clear in her behaviour as well. When she gets invited to join the magic school and has to stand there in a bit of a skimpy-ish gymsuit she openly tells everyone she did not expect school to be like this and that she kind of expected it to be more like Harry Potter. It’s funny to see a Japanese girl in bliss when she references Harry Potter and seeing this world is NOT like that! It sounds so funny! She makes a lot of relevant comparisons. Oftenly a bit aimed at the weird dogmatic ways some of these old tales work kind of showing us “hey these stories have been more modernly retold.. why do we follow this old trope” I found that a great source of comedy. There is no flippy phones but actually touch screen ones , which the more classical characters have huge trouble using.. making references that they would prefer something like a flippy phone but acting as if they do not know what those are . Since the show is basically one big tournament arc with teams across the world we can see classical roles being fulfilled in several teams. So when the shy Hazuki brings snacks aboard a train.. the shy girl on the russian team would have had a similar mindset and does the same. This show uses tropes a lot. It is fun and kinda interesting to see the tropes clash with “itself” by placing characters that should not be together… well uhm.. together!

*In her defence Hogwarts is a terrible place to live in! Cold damp castles, trolls, Basiliks, muderers ghosts and more!*

It has issues though! I will admit that but weirdly these issues only really come out once you start comparing it to anime. One example of what this show could vastly do better is explain how the world works. There is a magical world and a non magical world, where Hazuki comes from. Apparently only Hazuki lives on the other side but Shizuka comes there because there are hamburgers and they aren’t on the other side? It never is fully made clear and at times can even feel like a plothole like. They bounce between locations and worlds at times and it is hard to tell what is going on. Never ever does this show explain it properly. That is a problem…..when you compare it to an anime because there is plenty of anime who do it better. When you compare it to a fairy tale though, not explaining the world is kind of a thing there. Where did the fairy godmother come from? How does the Magic Mirror on the Wall work? How can Maleficent cast a death curse and how can the fairies cancel it?! It is not that relevant to the story so it’s not explained.. and the same can be said here.

*I half expected this spell to take three days!*

The side characters are all paper things, they get one exaggerated personality trade and are usually very much stereotyped based on a country. For example the leader of the German team is an amazing tactician, and very military minded. She has a stuffed animal called Messerschmidt , after the world war II plane. Her power is shooting guns! She isn’t as evil as she seems though. The british main girl is called Arthur Pendragon she is very regal and classic minded. She has a very commanding presence and wields a huge sword of light. The american girl Lyn Daves doesn’t respect classic stories.. as they do not have their own so they use their own media to copy and change cross media stuff to create their own more powerful stories not caring for tradition. She is a daddy’s girl and a cheater and doesn’t care for others. That is as far as these characters go! In anime characters this shallow are kind of passé.. but can anyone tell me the personality of Flounder, or the prince from the little Mermaid?! Side characters are treated like Fairy Tale side characters.

*Wonderwoman with a light saber Mrs Clause, Cinderella and Snow White together.. kinda sounds like my D&D!*

That is exactly what the problem of this anime is! It tells us that Fairy Tales did not always age well yet they build their story on these pillars to highlight this. Thus we get flat side characters like in fairy tales, we get very stereotypical characters like in those classics and this show does everything wrong what fairy tales arguably do wrong. By being flawed by design it does end up being flawed in the eyes of its beholder as well. I would love to see a few side characters more fleshed out but some even spontaneously pop up in the story when the need for them arises, their existence comes out of nowhere.Here it doesn’t feel modern it really feels like story telling of back in the days. So I can see why it isn’t well received, yet it’s flaws are not always by poor writing but by mimicking a flawed writing style?! So if you like this or not might really depend on your mindset. If you strictly can see this as an anime I can see how you would not be pleased. Also if you can not handle the Americans being very flawed because Murcia is perfect.. this is not the anime for you either!

*Since America has no original fantastical stories.. she just mashed them all together in a mixed media book! MURICA!*

And they all lived ….

How good this show is very much depends on your mindset. If you are the type that does believe you have to fit in society, get your job at any cost and conform to society and do what everyone does this show will not really do it for you. The message of this show hits hard for me.. but had it resonated less with me I would probably think less of this show. In the end I am the type that will refuse to give up my friends to take a job elsewhere I will just push to make my future possible here! I will not settle with a boy and have a kid and lose track of my friends and I will not take any job just to be productive. My life is about me, I determine my story and that is exactly the message of this show! I know some of my friends would disagree and I do not think they would like this show that much. If that message is lost.. a lot of things get lost in translation, it becomes a sub-par anime instead of a beautiful fairy tale. Yet if you are like me and dig this message and can judge it more as a fairy tale than a anime this bowl of porridge is JUST right!

People nag about the ending how a reveal is made in the end that for them came out of nowhere, but I can safely say, no that is not true! I have seen that twist coming from about half way in the series. The plot threats are there and while that story hasn’t really been a part of anything I think it got the perfect amount of attention for a 12 episode format. To me it shows that this story is much more cleverly written than most people give it credit for. It isn’t anything special by today’s standards but it is not aiming for today’s standards. If you watch this more as you’d watch a three hour disney movie or as story time before you go to sleep, this is just a very cute, wholesome story that has a girl in an iron maiden for some reason.

*I never knew my neignouring country puts girls in Iron Maidens! Would explain my crazy german ex though!*

If you watch it, watch it in batches of either 2 or 4 episodes at the same time. Not only are the even number episodes stronger.. but by using that format you will not end a day on episode 9.. because that one is so badly animated it will give you nightmares! In the end it might be a generic , unoriginal story but so are all disney movies and I love this exactly the same way as those classics… and that I think can only be a huge compliment. I choose to believe in Fairy Tales! Do you?!

Speaking of Fairy Tales?! Have you heard the Fairy Tale about the Blog Follower that got turned into a Coconut?! They supported the princess Kofi and were invited to live on a magical island with a unique coconut avatar and ALWAYS got nominated for any Blog Tags!
The princess used the Kofi money to build a better palace and to write her blog in more comfort so they could even show more positivity than she already tried! And they all lived happily ever after! At least.. if the coconuts could really miss the money! The princess would not want them to sacrifice what they could not miss! So if people would not the princess would just smile gleefully when people left something sweet in the comment section!

It’s Raining Cats and Dogs: Castle Cats and Dungeon Dogs Review

So I have some very big news! Probably! It is not official yet but it looks like I might be moving soon! it This past Saturday I did something else other than watching anime! I went to view a new place I could rent! Less drug trades on the parking lot, less illegal racing or violence! More tolerance and an appartement with some actual space! It looks like I got it! Though I haven’t signed a contract yet, all parties were in agreement! So yay! Better times ahead. I will stick by my rules though and not watch the anime later that day as I was well worn and had a nice dream buzz! No instead we will finish catch up week by taking the Cat from catch-up and adding some nice clothes to them!

Kittens and Puppies

So normally I am not into mobile gaming. I played some Dragon Ball Legends, I played some Dokkan Battle, but usually whenever I am done with a Story Mode I am done with a game. Sure they get updates every now and again and I might come back.. but I don’t stick to Mobile games all that much. I still play Dragon Ball Legends and Pokémon Go and very loosely but other than that I rarely play a mobile game. So when Summer of Foovay’s Cauldron told me this game was good I thought… I’ll probably try it out for a day and dump it on the second..I am however been pretty dedicated for over a week now and I want more! Well at least of Castle Cats!

Castle Cats and Dungeon Dogs are both Idle Hero games developed by Pocapp Studios.
In Castle Cat you make a Guild Master of a Heroes Guild and collect cats to make them go on quests in the hopes of defeating the evil Pugomancer. In Dungeon Dogs you make a Rebel Captain Dog.. and collect dogs to let them do missions for the resistance against the evil cats. Both are essentially the same game with a different story and different flavouring but the exact same mechanics. It’s up to you whether Dogs or Cats are more your thing. Where Dungeon Dogs is only a recent game though Cats has the more impressive library of collectables With about 260 cats where currently you can collect 60 ish dogs. Guess I got suckered into two more collectable creature games huh!

As an Idle game the gameplay consists of making Gacha-pulls if you have the right resources and clicking on a few spaces to gather these resources or allocate cats to get them for you. Each mission has a timer but the player can join in a battle and tap on a boss to reduce their health while charging up their heroes powers until they can unleash a super attack. With the resources gained you can upgrade your furry friends with new outfits, powers and make them eligible for more quests. Other options involve upgrading your base to gather your three main resources faster or your main building which allows you to send more allies on a mission at the same time. Other than that you can craft some items with an alchemy station for aid when you do battle, or a bigger reward payout. Yet there are also special crafts depending on events you got going on. Which usually leads to super unique heroes being collected. It doesn’t do anything special gameplay wise but everything happens in a very non intrusive way. You can choose to just toss your phone aside and let the troops do the work or actively take part in the fights. I prefer to keep my paws clean and just let my darlings gather resources while I blog! Each day I collect a few kittens and puppies and I just smile.

Mi’wow

While Dungeon Dogs doesn’t impress me as much as Castle Cats does I must comment both for their lovely presentation. The Joy on your cats and dogs as they complete a mission, or walk through your field is amazing. The design of creatures, especially the higher rarity ones is incredible! There is so much personality in them.The colours are vibrant and both your main story heroes as well as those rare finds oftenly look good enough in design to be in an actual cartoon of sorts. This is these games greatests plus. Oftenly mobile collectable creature games on mobile can look really unique but there is nothing to bind you to them. Say some Fakemon shows it and it looks mighty cute, I am still not tempted to drop some money in as it would be nice to have.. but there is no NEED to have it. A game using an existing IP thus makes a better Gacha! I want the new Majin Vegeta in Legends so I might drop some cash or do missions to get him.. as I recognise him.. he becomes something to pursue. Pocapp Studios manages a way to balance this greatly.

Most of the cats and dogs to collect have a reference, they are something else from another source of media. So for example my first Mystical was a cat called Howard, who when evolved turned into the Eldritch Cthulhu. Howard of course being the H in HP Lovecraft. But I also got Bunny! A cat who was chosen by the moon to be a guardian. When you evolve her she gets a sailor outfit and blonde buns.Usagi is the Japanese word for Bunny.. so you really know who you just collected. All of them have dialogue too! Scarlett really makes me laugh! It is a cat who wants to be a Blobmon trainer. He really wants to ride a bike.. but he knows now is not the time and place and HE is always watching. Scarlett indeed is Red from Pokémon. Because these games take a deep dive into Geekdom there is more reason to collect the creatures other than their cute look! You want to find out who they all are! My best friend Bean for example got a cat named Edward..He doesn’t like to be called small and his brother is an armor. I really want him!

What is also very impressive about these games is that you seem to get “fair deals” for spending money. You don’t need to spend money and by watching adds you can unlock a whole bunch of extra goodies as well so there is no real need to put money into it.. but the bundles and deals you get seem actually cool! Where Dokkan Battle for example only really has sweet deals when it comes to summonable stones in these games some creatures are strictly for sale. Yet some of them have powers to spawn resources you might need like Embers used to upgrade your creatures, or crafting resources. So while you get a cute cat, you also get some usability out of it. Package deals can refill your resources, can offer your embers, cats and skins summon tickets all for a bundle deal so there is always something nice in the store for you. You can say.. I do not care about that..but let’s be honest a game needs to make money and it needs to work with these deals.. that’s how they work so I wont judge them for it! These deals feel unique and rewarding and not like a complete rip-off. So while I will not become a money investing whale here.. they very much know what they are doing.

That confidence is shown in just about everything. The Story lines of the games are both cute, though I again vastly prefer the story of Castle Cats as it has that cuter atmosphere that just fits better with the aesthetics and the genre. Dungeon Dogs focussing on rebellion just feels a bit forced somehow. Mostly because their size seems to exist in the universe so I would assume they have the upper hand.It just doesn’t feel as magical! Castle Cats story however is surprisingly entertaining for a mobile game. Again it has a bit that saturday morning cartoon vibe with each story mission being a cartoon episode. While we only get a few lines of dialogue it is easy to imagine how that adventure will go. Both games feature three protagonist that all are very fun. Lyra the Golden Retriever dog is not my favourite as I find her a bit bland. Poppy the Barbarian Dog is probably one of my favourite characters though! For Castle Cats, Catniss ,(which indeed IS a reference) Conan and Frederique are all pretty good. It’s funny to see Catniss volunteer for every suicide mission because.. she is Katniss. It might not be fully original but these games just ooze with charm. Making it really something you want to play.

A Bark Worse than It’s Bite

The games are not flawless though, especially not if you choose to play both. Both games promote playing both through a quest line but because of it you see they are a bit TOO samesey. It makes sense from either a dog person or a cat person perspective but since both games push you to play both..chances are you will experience how same everything is. The base is a sprite swap with everything at the exact same location, the mini games are the same between the games, even the resources don’t look THAT different. Instead of Iron Ore, dogs gets bones and some stuff is swapped around but essentially it is the same and you can craft the same things with it.. it’s all just sprite swaps. It also leads you to compare items. Avatar items for example are WAAAAY better in Dungeon Dogs, the items are so much more detailed and ornate. Yet Cats have so much more felines to collect.

However the worst part about these games being so linked! Your VIP status is NOT linked. I spent 7 dollars now on Castle Cats which was enough to get me to VIP1 and I feel I should have shared that level between both games. That way I could buy dogs I want when I already have the cat from the monthly bundle or vice versa and still keep my VIP level up! But no alas.. it is seen as a different game any money spend is counted for that game alone. If those get linked I might go deeper but for now it means I shall invest 0 money in Dogs.

I honestly suggest you stick to one game and for me it would be Cats. The references are a bit sharper, although the dogs have more intricate designs. There is not really a bad side here. During my time playing I experience a few glitches in Castle Cats. For example my Adds for extra rewards or skipping missions will sometimes refuse to play unless I reset the game. Other times my screen would go unresponsive during the minigames. I haven’t had these issues with Dungeon Dogs yet.. but that one plays a lot more additional commercials which you can spend a pass on to have them disabled. I dislike that choice which puts me off Dogs a bit more than Cats.. I have control over what I watch in Cats and more control over my spending. In the end these games are made for you to pay for a creature or two. I am not going to hold that against them. It doesn’t HAVE to be fully playable for free. You can have your fun with it for free but like a real Gashapon vending machine.. it is cute to stare at for free but a lot more fun if you toss a few coins at it. That is fine and no one is gonna convince me otherwise, this is a type of game now, deal with it!

The biggest gripe I had with my gameplay so far is that the game at one point bottlenecks you in story mode. IF you haven’t chosen to keep up your main three heroes. I got a lot of Cats that can generate embers.. so I prefer to send those on missions instead. Yet later you need to send a cat with two skills on a mission. Usually the only ones who fit are the main heroes. I have been stuck for two days now being forced to grind embers and levels for Conan, draining my resource pools for a cat I did not really want to level. Of course I could spend money on it to make it go by easier..as you can both by level boosters and embers but thats not how I like to do things. However it makes story progress slightly more unappealing as it limits you very much! I can’t say how much of these missions will come as of yet as I am stuck at this one so much but if you play these games do level up your main heroes! Regardless if I progress in the main story or not though I still have lots of fun with this game so the positives really outweigh the negatives.

Positikitty

These are wonderful games for you to play on the side or whatever else you are doing that day! Mind you .. Emphasis on the side. The gameplay is monotone so it would not entertain you through the day. It has the stamina thing most Free to Start games have so gameplay is not unlimited either. Yet if you play it casual this is one super fun game! I got two friends addicted in a short time. Cute sweet innocent fun, with a amazing design time behind it and witty yet also very clear cut references. These are games that reward you from dropping money, but hardly ever punish you for going free to play and that for me is the ideal mix. I don’t think Free to Play needs to be equally rewarding. It has fun enough gameplay an amazing store and even if you don’t use it a very fun libarary of creatures to collect so if you want something fun feel free to try it out! If you REALLY want to try it out though give a shout out to me in the comments! I could send you an invite and get stuff as a reward… I am all about those rewards now.. because I am hooked enough to at least put in an effort. That is more than most mobile games can make me say.

As for what flavour to reward it with..I feel that is rather relative for this one. For me personally this is a Gacha Idle Game done right. I feel the need to collect and the urge to pay and I would happily splash a few dollar for it here and there. It gives me satisfaction without the need to feel to purchase everything. I can take this journey like I take this game. One step at a time. I’ll get there when I get there. Meanwhile I stare at cute cats a grin widely! This is fun, it does more for me than Dragon Ball Legends does.. which is a fine game but I can still see myself getting frustrated with it within a few week so it won’t receive the highest of my praise. In the end I find this game Berry Good…now I want a cat named Berry Good! I might be more addicted than I think!

Dutch anime conventions can have their quirks, the concept of a “panel” is usually reserved for Comic Con only while our conventions feature a lot of workshops and home brew cute events. Tofu Cute is an amazing store that tempts me into buying their adorable stuff every time I see it. It’s an England based company that doesn’t have to do as much with Tofu as it does have to do with cute. Because my oh my do these guys have some cute stuff. Hige Manju Maneki Neko Reiwa Giant Plush

The first thing I am offering in my in my little store are these big Maneki Neko’s that look adorable and perfectly huggable.. which is a pretty good trait for a plushie to have. Being 35 centimeters tall and coming in two variants the Calico and the Black cat. The description Tofu Cute gives to this one is spot on Adorably round lucky cats holding golden amulets, huge & round & huggable! These two deserve a warm home and loving new owners. Both are originally made in Japan by the company Amuse which is quite good quality stuff there. Most of Tofu’s stuff comes from them and it feels super soft and good! So there is my seal of approval.. I once or twice held something similar. Still just look at the black one.. doesn’t he just look like the cutests grouch?! AMUSE Micro Pig Giant Plush

Speaking of Amuse , let’s discuss my most recent Tofu Cute Purchase. The clover Giant Micro Pig. It’s pink, squishy it looks great on my bed.. which is pink and white and it’s large enough for me to hug without losing in the middle of the night! I just feel in love with how it’s eyes sparkled and how it’s mouth emotes cute oinking noises and how “anime pig” it looks! I am still on the hunt for an Anime Duck plush but Miss Luckubutt (Which is how I named my plush pig) is very welcome addition to my family! What would make it better is if any of you could adopt her brothers or sisters so through our bond as bloggers our plushies can be together!
Anyway Tofu Cute describes these cuties as Adorable micro pig giant plush, super fuzzy and cuddly with unique patterns! I love my plushies fuzzy! Miss Luckybutt arived a few days ago and I adore her. If you are a bit like me you have found yourself staring at your cat-octopus hybrid and ask. Why is it not more like a humanoid Reindeer with a pink hat! Luckily the brilliant Hannah has come with a solution for this. A Tony Tony Chopper Kittypi that also comes as just a hat! So even if you would not want an adorable tentacle (non) tanuki you can still get cute pink decoration of real high quality! These are really good! Chopper easily is one of the most true looking plushies in this store! In fact if you told me this was a rumble ball form from the Anime, i’d totally believe it! It’s colouring really stands out to me and if I had the money , I’d totally pick it up! Running for about $75 this one unfortunately is a bit of my plushie range, but this little guy will just be as happy if you pick it up today! I bet Hannah will love it if you do as well!

Meowth or Alolan Meowth Kittypi

If you are even more like me you know there can never be enough Pokémon in Your Life. Kittypi Meowth is one of Hannah’s proudest works and with Galar now being a thing she can now make three! As her store is commission based I bet you can make it as crazy as you’d like. Yet her cats all look so adorable that these cat pokémon are like a super safe way to go and add something super cute to your bed , shelves or couch. Now Meowth is a bipedal pokemon so that makes it hard to place a plushie like that. Now that it has become an octopus as well it can be put everywhere! That’s pretty amazing, think of the logistics! I really love how kantonian meowth is totally adorable and it’s dark type counterpart has so much personality as well. I’d totally want to buy them as a set! But now I need my metal furbaby as well so this set can be complete! When I already want more, you are doing something right!

All Might Kittypi

For my last pick it is time to go beyond! Plus Ultra Adorable! This thing is amazing and I feel the show is overrated so to the true fans this guys must be a must buy right? Flying its U.A. colourv scheme and all mights in general I can assure you that this plush is high quality! It will not shrivel up into a skinny weak man! It will save you from your lonely nights and bad dreams for it is a hero. It’s special attack, United States of Hug can defrost even the coldest of hearts! Your girlfriend will steal the covers, your hubby will hug and roll you out of his space or fart under the blankets ! Even your Dakimakura is not as loyal as this All Might.. put it next to you and it will keep you safe and loved All Night! And hey if you just happen to breath in one of its hairs you might gain super powers! Talk about a super deal.

It doesn’t happen so often that I encounter a store that resonates with my sense of aesthetics and cuteness so much that I more or less believe that this shop is lead by an alternate universe version of me.. just one that is more talented, more successful and even more pretty than I am! This store manages to pull it off though! Their Linktree is done in a soft pink, their webstores artwork is done in pink’s and baby blues with white, which is a theme I really like and have used when this was still a Pokémon Blog and basically her entire visual style, the characters they create, the linework everything on this site speaks to me. What if you took Nyancat and made it like a billion times cuter, a gazillion times less annoying and infinitely more huggable! Seriously toast is so fragile! Than you’d get this Giant Mewochi Plush Unicorn. Being 10.5 inch tall, which is yet another measurement standard I can do nothing with , I am sure it lives up to its expectations of Giant. This is the one that got away for me! Being on Sale for a very affordable $30 bucks .. with free US delivery during the COVID times, this is a pretty sweet deal for all of you in the states! Lots of Meowchi to love! Just look at it doesn’t it make you happy?! This tiny , big one can’t wait for you to hug it and make your pillows softer as putting your head on a marshmallow as that is it’s magical power! It’s a very neutral plush that can look cute in any decoration as well and bring a little rainbow in your life! Such a great plush for such a sweet deal!

Mallow, The Stegosaurus DinoS’more

One look at and it’s gleeful eyes is enough to fall in love with this little creature! It’s rosey cheeks on it’s desaturated peach skin help sell that joy de vivre this little thing has about life as it tells you exactly how happy and cheery this little DinoS’more is! We don’t even have S’mores here but I just can imagine how soft and squishy Mallow would be to hug! It also shares a name with one of the most Amazing WordPressers I know! So supportive! If this Mallow does even half of that.. I can tell you it’s money well spend! Just looking at the picture as I write this my brain is like.. I want to feed it cookies..brand ones as well! Like Oreo and Chips-Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies. As someone who talks to my plushies I know I might be biassed but Mallow has such a strong voice I can just imagine it already..without even owning one! Think of the conversations you can have if you are as crazy as me and more of a United States based than me! If I had a Mallow I might try baking just so I could make the plushie watch me! It will also hear me curse than because I am not good at baking! Luckily I would have a Mallow to cheer me up once I fail! Nocturii the Dragon Fruit Bat

When Pinkie was born she did not get one but two bunnies two love, and her favorite one had a face exactly like Nocturii, only Pinkie’s bunny wasn’t pink.. nor could it fly… nor would it taste so good if you eat it… in the fictional sense… This little critter is something truly unique and feels like it should be in a kids anime like Maple Town or something. I do not know why but I also imagine it as the mascotte of a bungalow park! Like on the kids network it would fly all over the map and tell the children where the playground is, where the swimming pool is and where the special magic show and kids club are! All so that mommy and daddy can have some peace and quiet! ‘Momma Momma! Nocturii is at the boulevard can I go and see her?’ I would be so excited if I was a kid seeing this as a mascotte! The Bunny like features make it lovable while the batlike features make it completely unique! That leaf on her head because it’s also a fruit just finish it and making this into one of the strongest OC plushies I have seen. That is Tasty Peach greatest strength.. it all feels so unique yet it also manages to appeal to you on a very core level. An absolute gem of a dealer and I hope people can support them in these difficult times!

Corocoro Coronya Plush

If you are like me you have looked at your dog and wondered.. why aren’t it legs more like pastry. San-X made a character for you and Neko Stop made it come to the states while keeping the bun fresh and soft.. the soft part goes for the rest of the dog as well. From what I have seen you can remove the dog from the bun but no guarantees! My research took me to some auto translate Japanese pages that showed me weird dutch queries like “the fatness of Chinese dogs and crusty cats. I am sure something went wrong in translation! Neko Shop tries to respond to all your questions within twenty four hours though so I bet they can answer everything you need to know about this dog in a blanket.. The Edible kind. I myself would just like to have it for the randomness.. a dog in a croissant like thing… Actually it’s that thing from the first episode of Lucky Star where they discuss how to eat a pudding filled croissant like thing.. but I forgot how it’s actually called. I am pretty sure it’s not Chinese Dog’s Fatness. $25 Dollars for a on brand, on model and official plush like this isn’t that expensive! If it isn’t cute enough for you I am sure it will be delicious!

Rilakkuma Autumn Gloves Plush!

While I had plenty of plushies in my life I don’t think I ever had an actual bear.. well excluding my panda.. but still that doesn’t really feel like a Teddy. Rilakkuma most definitely is a Teddy so I really want one! This Autumn Glove Edition is perfect for a Dutchie like me because we like to complain about the weather and I am not sure if this little bear is fit for cold weather. It clearly is wearing Winter Gear for while it is only still Autumn.. we Dutch have a word for this and it’s cold Koukleum.. a person who does not like cold! We are still very much in the middle of summer unless you live in Australia or picked southern Hemisphere in Animal Crossing, so this bear should not be that cold! So time for you to warm it up with warm loving hugs! The tiny gloves it wars are so adorable and it means it will not scratch you even if it’s a bear so this is a total win. Costing around $28 dollars that seems like a fairly fair price for something as Kawaii as this! I have no idea how big it is because the measurements are in inches but my guesstimate size would be .. adorable! This is definitely a teddy I would welcome in my home and if you are into plushies so should you!

Sentimental Circus Shappo

It might not come to any surprise that among all those plushies I have selected at least one in every store had some pink elements since CoroCoro and Rilakkuma miss that I needed something to meet that quota. Presenting Shappo! Shappo is one of the weirder San-X character and definitely takes after me! With a teacup tiny top hat, a bit of a scary face and an adorable puppet this creature blends adorableness with a bit of creepiness. It looks like it could kill you.. or at the very least curse you..so this one is very nice to add if your mom tells you to give up your plushies.. you just sit that on your bed or couch making sure if faces wherever your mom sits when she is over for visits..assuming most my of followers live by myself.. or at least are a bit secluded to their own room! When she says.. you gotta get rid of those your an adult now you just point at Shappo and say….shhh they hear you! She will stare at it and drop it right away. There is also that appeal to bunny plushies.. Maybe it was because it was my first animal but for some reason I feel like all bunny like plushies always come out extra adorable! So do pick up a Shappo today if you want to have something else sitting on your bed for once! It is really ornate and a bit pricey coming in at about $39 dollars so it might not be for everybody.. but I at least love this style.. so I am sure there are more people like me!

The final store is something special. During the OWLS live stream event which I watched later due to not being awake at the time of streaming Naja and Lita eluded to a mysterious OWL having their own store that sells Amigurumi dolls! Of course this person would be on my dealer to support list us OWLS should stick together and they get one of those coveted corner spots of my dealer table as well! Takeru Sasazuka Amigurumi

If you are a bit like me you have looked at a guy and thought.. Shut your face! Like Don’t say anything! Don’t even look at me! All I need now is a hug from you..but don’t be you because you make me angry! This Collar X Malice remake has got you covered. While I know nothing about the game or the character, a little image search leads me to believe that this character is really very much into sweets! That’s cute..but those are my donuts and cookies! With Naja’s Takeru though you get the best of everything you just described! He won’t talk back.. he won’t give you the look and he certainly won’t touch your food! He is just there for you to love! I am not sure what type of ladies he likes..but little love story does not require you to act a specific way! This little love story can be unlocked by supporting Naja! You get a lovely little doll pal, Naja gets happy and you can now chase another guy with Takeru already being there so you no longer have to feel bad for picking him! I am not very good at romancy games because I can never replay it and go for another romance. I feel bad for not picking the first. Dragon Quest Your Story the movie explained that well! So with an option like this I would feel better! So Go play Collar X Malice, do the Takeru Route.. if that is a thing.. and buy this as your trophy!

Sushi Bunny Tamago

No! I have never looked at my bunny and wondered if it would be nicer if it was more like sushi! I just dropped an omelette on my bunny! Just kidding.. That did happen to my dog she did not mind as much as me! She had an omelette that day.. Nowadays I have neither Dog nor Bunny to drop an omelette on! My plushies do usually not go near the kitchen! Now that means there is a hiatus in my house! Tiny Plushies I could decorate my kitchen with! Naja has a great answer in the form of these briljant and adorable Sushi bunnies! All I can say is I truly love these! If I ever marry a rich american girl who’s willing to support me these will definitely decorate our house! You can really see the personalities in them as well. Did you know that a Bunny-Rice-Ball would rather be covered by Tuna than with egg for example? I did not but Naja sure did! So if you manage to have enough for a set, they will all look quite different and unique! A great thing to collect or an totally awesome gift! Egg based creatures can be totally awesome friends! You should know if you read my more experimental pieces!

Rowlet Pokemon

One of my favourite grass type Pokémon, the former mascot of Owls before Sir Hoot (at least I think that is it’s name) took over. This is a pick for all of you Owls members who would like a physical token of their Owlness. Not only do you support a fellow Owl and one of our long time members, you’d get your own little badge of honour! Plus one of the best pokémon starters ever! Her pokémon work on the store is adorable and throughout! I love the Pikachu as well and I rarely love Pikachu! Pokémon Go kinda keeps ruining it more for me! How many hats do you gotta have! The piplup is adorable as well. Yet Rowlet I say is Naja’s greatest work. I’ve been blogging about Pokémon for a year now so you can take this as an expert opinion as well. I mean that in the positive way.. like comparing fine wines and picking a Château Léoville Barton over a Château Pichon Longueville Lalande. I know a lot of you don’t like Plushies all that much or as much as I do but Naja here shows that a Plush or a little cuddly companion can be more! A symbol of what ties us together!

Phew that was a lot of work! This brings me to my conclusion of today’s post! I know I tried to sell you these things but know I get nothing out of it! Nor is that my intention! These people at least for the most part, normally are out there on conventions selling these things and making trying to make a living. In times like these they can be less discovered and might be struggling. For me Cons for a big part are about shopping and talking to shopkeepers, fangirling over items I might never be able to get but can dream about. These dealers are just as much a part of conventions as we are as guests.So if you have a plushie loving friend, share the links to the stores I shared with you or browse these peoples stores for something you might like as well.

Support your own favourite dealer! If you are into gunpla.. for once buy it online as if you would spend it on a con. If you are into Japanese candy or artwork order some of that! If you can miss something of course. It is why I bought Miss Luckybutt.. she costs me about what I would normally spend on cons! I really get happy when I see a table of plushies in the dealer room of my cons and if we all support what we love just a bit.. we can help the other side of the conventions as well as ourselves! Support your dealers.. by granting your own desires! Now I am sold out for the day!
Remember to be however you want to be and don´t be afraid to give yourself a treat from your dealers…do not take that out of context!

Pinkie Becomes A Temtem Tamer (Part 2): Journey to the first Dojo

Last time we saw Pinkie Paradise pick up her first Temtem and venture out in the big world. She caught a few new friends and went to study at a town with a weird squigly in the name. As she had and still has no idea how to make a squiggly c , we shall just name this town Brical de Mar… just imagine the squiggly. In the first leg of the journey we just made it there so let’s see what adventures await her in this episode…

Taking on sidequests

I made plenty of progress with my Temtem and was already getting to know the battle system when suddenly a few question marks showed up on my map. Temtem unlike it’s big inspiration has an active main quest and plenty of side quests. Yet first we had to meet the professor. This time he was accompanied by Sophia. She was beautiful, her skin coloured like chocolate milk…. well more like a gentle serving of nesquik in a glass.Her hair long and waving starting as a sort of fading anthracite colour…like garden furniture that has been left in the sun for to long flowing over into a deep cyan.. with the intensity of printing press ink that had just exploded in her hair.

Her clothes looked like a lovely breezy jacket that looks really hard to put on.. because this bra-like mini top is part of it’s design so I guess you pull it over your head like a shirt.. but the shape doesn’t really cooperate. She must spend a lot of time getting ready. She wears one of those aladdin belts.. you know what I mean those cloth band belt things that are very shiny and smooth. She also wears some across her arms so she accessories very well. She tells me I can visit her in Arissola, temtem tamers take on dojo’s to proof their worth and get rewards from it to further their journey! She also tells me I should study at the school first…. *la sigh*

So it’s back to school with me, but what is this.. a guy lost the key to his locker… well gotta help him find his key first! The poor thing! So even though the school bell just rang I do the noble thing and start to help him first. Through a few quick dialogues with people I find out he dropped the key at the Temporium… that’s like a pokecenter…but…there is no nurse just a heal computer where you can do it yourself…. that’s about all the differences.

I bring the key back and get some junk items. Higher up in the school I found the head mistress, who thinks two boys are skipping school. She asks me if I can go find them… so I head out and find those students. It quickly turns out I need a surfboard to find them which I can find out in the next town…so I decide to skip school. to get a surfboard to find these boys . It’s amazing how real this game feels!

Temtem Up

Having left the town, heading north I quickly got into some more interesting Tem-battles then before. I noticed that even if my temtem had quite a few levels on my opponent I simply was unable to oneshot them. Even killing them in two hits proved a challenge with my starter moves. The two versus two battle system of temtem doesn’t make this any easier. I am completely unable to avoid all damage on my temtem.

My super effective moves are not able to oneshot and because I have a fairly diverse party so it’s not that uncommon that something I have gets hit super effective as well. Three battles down the road my Temtem are not looking healthy. So I head back to the Temporium to heal them up and walk over to the guy who has a store in the place of healing to buy some balm’s to heal my temtem and some antidotes and stuff. After getting to the store.. I decide not to buy any at all and just get some temcards. Those items are EXPENSIVE! Besides I already beat six trainers ( you fight them in pairs) how long can the road to the next town really be?!

Temtem is a lot more difficult than pokémon. While battles themselves aren’t THAT challenging, being a Temtem trainer is. You want to level up your tems so want to make sure everyone gets a turn.. but that means taking hits. You’ll want a team as full as possible because even a few levels ahead killing temtem in one hit rarely happens or you’ll run out of stamina before you can do that to all. Temtem is very much about managing your team. Limiting the damage you get and maximising your experience gains wherever possible.

Running away from random battles I also found a bit harder than in Pokémon. Normally you will lead with the two temtem you want to level the most. Those can’t run as easily.. and failing means two free hits from your opponent. So I figured I best just soldier it out, fight my heart out run back to the temporium and little by little make progress. Of course I could just ask a friend to travel with me… but I don’t have any friends yet! While it does sound really grindy.. and in a way it also is.. I really like the challenge. It gives you a chance to experiment with several Temtem and since this is an MMO you could have expected some grinding.

Showing my Sass

I catch a Ganki , a air and electric type Tem to help me deal with all the air type temtem I find on this route! Plus the first Dojo is claimed to use air and water temtem so I need an ace! I realise however that Ganki by now is almost 16 levels behind so I do need to grind a bit. I head back to the squiggly c town and head back to the school. Maybe I missed something. One teacher asks my name and I tell him “My Name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die” . He looks at me like I am an idiot and continues to tell me stuff about Temtem.. like synergy attacks!

Some moves of temtem have a little plus icon at their name, if you put a temtem of the right element next to it, it will gain a boosted effect. For example if a Temtem of the same type is next some moves will raise in attack powers. If you put a toxic type next to the water type.. water moves might inflict poison. Such a nice idea and it makes having doubles of a type or certain team strategies compilations more interesting.
Soon after that I head back and Fight Sara and Lara twins who can;t figure out of them who is Sara and who is Lara… so I claim to be Sara instead.. which triggers the fight. I win so I guess I am Sara now! It’s hilarious to find all these dialogue options.

When facing a Temtem trainer you can steer talks the way you want them, either for a quick battle or to find some hidden dialogue. Some are amazingly geeky fun. Like that one where I mimic the princess diaries.. or later on where a guy keeps talking about a thing hidden under a truck on a deserted island. There is plenty of references to be found towards how much they are like Pokémon. For example there is a temtem naimed Saipat in this game. It’s a duck.. who fights with sais.. A Sai Duck! Unlike Psyduck .. who much to the fans dismay never got the psychic typing that makes part of his name.. the Sai .. of Sai pat is taken into it’s typing. It’s a dual fighting and water type. That’s pretty cheeky humor by the monkey’s at Crema. To add insult to injury they also gave Saipat an ability that allows it to use toxic type moves as if it was it’s typing.

The main character can make fun of dialogue tropes and can even recognise the game is still in early access, stating that it is weird that so many buildings are closed. I encountered a guy who thought he was better than me because he was from the city and I got the option to respect him or make fun of him! Even after battle I got the option to kick him when he is down! That is great it makes battling so much more fun! However this one comes with a downside! Dialogue is missable! Where in pokémon you can loop a conversation endlessly, once you chosen to commit to a certain line of dialogue here that is it. After that they will only ask you to leave or stay for dinner, which you never get. So careful you might sass yourself away from a juicy piece of gossip or lore! Not that I care.. I never finished school anyway some ignorance is to be expected.

Shopping for clothes

After a fair while I finally made it to the town of Arissola , I am ready to fight that first Dojo now! My temtem are all about level 20 ish now. Yet the Dojo Leader sophia seems to have vanished after visiting the wind fortress. Which lies past the gifted bridges a long route filled with Temtem trainers. “Ah I see, more training required huh” message received! My body is ready! So I start to prepare for my new leg of the journey. I pretend to be a tour guide, lying about my knowledge of the region.. luckily I loved dialogue so I actually KNOW what to pick! That’s kind of clever. I found these facts trough random dialogue and thinking logically about places I visited before.

People travel across this world like you do , to either see the sights or further their science. You can tell by their clothes or their temtem if people are from different areas which is kind of neat. There is a very vivid form of world building in these towns and the continents and trough side quests the game gently asks you to explore more. Sometimes you’ll have to catch a very rare spawning temtem, or find a specific chain of npc’s sometimes on description only. It sounds very simple but Pokémon always kind of lacked this.. it’s just random people everywhere without a connection.. here we see pop idols.. and people worshipping her, a ferryman and it’s passengers, a perfume seller and her material suppliers. There is is a bigger connection random people know each other.. the world is more alive…… omg there is a clothing store in Arissola!

Temtem has a lot of customisation options, plenty towns hold clothing stores which all have very unique items based on the region and local styles. You can buy dye sets to recolour your clothes in the ways you want as well which is like a big heart eyes emoji from me! I love gear systems like these and since your temtem trainer only wears vanity gear you can do what you want without jumping through numerous hoops. Heart Eyes Emoji Heart Eyes Emoji Heart Eyes Emoji! However the gear is incredibly expensive and I have not found a way to find easy money yet! If you know good ways to make money in Temtem let me know!

Because shopping always makes me a happy Pinkie! While I did not make a lot of progress with Temtem in this leg of the journey I again really like that I can take it slow, there is some stuff to explore, there is a lot of fun stuff to try and there is plenty temtem to catch. Temtem do not level up a a certain level but after gaining certain levels so I have to spend a lot of time with all of them. With my eyes on the first dojo and my goal and the wind fortress I know my journey is only just beginning and I am sure it will only get better.

Trolling with a bludgeoning Angel

Welcome again island guests. As anime fans I am sure you oftenly get questions about you hobbies. These people asking questions can ask you various questions some more sincere than others. “If I were to try anime, what would you recommend” is most likely one of the ones everyone has heard by now. A Shounen or a Ghibli movie are you most standard go toes in such cases. However, there are also people who ask questions like ‘Anime, isn’t that the weird japanese cartoons where everyone tries to fuck little girls and they do that stupid magical girl stuff?’ The stereotypist tries to have fun at our accounts. Even if you explain them there are many subgenres they and there are plenty of different stories they do not listen or forget and next time you bring it up again, they talk about tentacles or japanese weirdness again. One of my friends kept doing this so when he asked to watch anime with me , as I had no money to go out, I showed him Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro Chan.

Baka-Baka

For you that don’t know this show is about the misadventures of Sakura Kusakabe a thirteen year old boy who at the age of thirty three would develop the technology in which women do not age past the age of 12, so he can create a Pedophile’s World. Unbeknownst to him however this technology also makes these little women immortal, which pisses of god. So god sends the bludgeoning angel Dokuro-Chan to kill Sakura. Dokuro who looks like a twelve year old girl gets feelings for Sakura and instead tries to keep him busy enough so he is unable to invent that technology 20 years in the future. This often results in situations where she uses her angelic strength to kill Sakura to teach him a lesson on how to behave, after which she brings him back using the spell Pipiru-piru-piru-pipiru-pi.

These kills are always very bloody and nearly always involve decapitating him, tearing his face off or causing other fatal wounds with her mace Excalibolg. She also turns one of his classmates into a monkey, which no one seems to mind and barely even notice. Another angel is send to finish Dokuro’s original mission named Sabato. Now Dokuro has to both save Sakura from death, while murdering him over and over again to teach him some manners and prevent him from turning into a pervert. The protection part of course is done by oftenly stealing Sabato’s halo, which obviously gives her cray diarrhea. I am such a good friend, if my friend wants to watch anime and he only thinks weird magic and sex with little girls is anime, I oblige. Sometimes I wish I could marry myself, I am so helpful and clever and if you mess with my hobbies, I mess with you back. Teehee.

Please! Don’t glare at me like that.

Dokuro-chan is one of those 10 minute per episode anime, that since its original run have since come bundled on various sites and media. Episodes can be disjointed from just walking around to school to going on a field trip. You can watch the entire series in less time than t would take you to finish a random marvel movie, with a lot more dead and blood and at times better jokes. However this show is completely bonkers. The opening song along has some very clear SM themes and considering they are sung by a “twelve year old” girl that will already show you how far away from reality ths show stands. Characters all have hugely inflated persona’s without having much depth, but I at least think they are all hilarious. Think of it like if South Park only consisted out of Eric Cartman’s and Randy Marches and throw in a bit of Rick from Rick and Morty as well and let them interact with each other. It’s about that level of odd. If you step on my hobby, I’ll lock you in my living room and beat you silly with the silliness you expect I am into. Of course I took into account that my friend might request the show to be turned off, so I invited some of my anime friends to join us as well. The more the merrier, my friend agreed and said to go for it. Yet now he could not ask me to turn it off , because with a few drinks my other friends were really into this fun little show.

During the first few episodes you could see my bigoted friendstruggling, afraid that I’d kick him out of my life if he left early or that my friends would hang him if he would ask to watch an easier show. While in reality I learned that this friend asked for anime because he wanted to gossip about my hobby to another girl whom he had plans with the next day, I still love my friend and trough teasing a bit back.. that’s just how I show my love.

Bloodstained-All-Over Dokuro Chan

About three episodes in I began to notice a change n my friend though. He gotten over the initial weirdness and began to appreciate how different it is to the media your “standard Normie” usually consumes. You can watch South Park, Family Guy or Rick and Morty and those shows are not THAT different from each other. Sure the latter is a bit more out there and caters to the abnomal a bit more already but it’s still very dependent on pop-cultural references and catering to the same vices, being drugs booze and lust like most of our comedy. Dokuro-chan is REALLY out there on the absurdity scale were even common logic doesn’t always need to apply which results into something unpredictable and seemingly random. My friend began to appreciate seeing things he never saw before, of having a sense of being completely gobsmacked. I feel, like wester media is made from the imagination of the target audience, we treat our audience as dumb and they need to GET IT , because god forbid you show doesn’t gets a negative review. Anime and Manga I feel myself are made much more with the content creator in mind. They think it is fun, they like their joke and you do not NEED to get it, but credit to you if you do then you can share the love. This is what I love about anime it doesn’t feel stale as it isn’t bogged down by expectations and that is what my friend kind of figured out as well.

I might have punched him in the face with an anime that’s definitely NOT for starters and toyed with him for not showing me seriously it actually had results. When we neared the end of the story and the whole Pedophle story neared full circle he was genuinely laughing at the discovery and liked that it wasn’t stated directly but he kinda had to discover it on it’s own through the weirdness. Of course he got the theme song stuck in his head and final episode , we sang it all together…. to get it out of our head and because we had a substantial amount of alcohol already…because it’s that type of anime, it’s one you throw on when a party is getting a bit stale and you want to energise people with laughter and just have some silly no brain fun. Each kill, each splatter of blood and nearly each action is just meant for comedy sake. It is exactly what the “non-believers’ think anime is but more. I might have kind of stabbed my friend in the back by setting him up like this, but at least I did not leave him in the cold and showed him the fun of weird. That’s just how I show my love.

When the show was over we talked a bit and for the first time he kinda listened that there were other types of shows but that he kinda made us ridiculous by thinking all anime was this. So I just showed him HOW ridiculous things can get. Realising fully well that not everything could be THIS zany he made that connection or something. As he is a big slasher/horror buff we ended up watching a few episodes of Higurashi as well. He asked me if there were any horror anime on netflix and I told him that if any slasher like anime would ever make it to Netflix it would probably be Future Diary/ Mirai Nikki which he would say he would definitely watch then. He could even see the appeal of the weird. Anime has the reputation of being weird, perverted and infantile and while Dokuro is exactly what a Muggle-Weeb (or is it Weeb-Muggle?) thinks we watch it still has something to say. When you watch CSI, or NCIS o Criminal Minds or whatever show, we do not hear the voice of the writer. We hear the voice of the test audience. That’s why we see so many similar episodes across the shows…because people like “the crime committed in the sky” or the “man who got murdered without a weapon’ so that’s what they put in.

While anime also relies on tropes, these tropes are engines that drive the plot..rather than the plot itself. We like magical girls so we get a lot of those shows, how those shows unfold however can go any way. This gives anime and manga a much stronger voice than your average western show. Dokuro REALLY makes this clear. Why it is never briljant, never THAT clever and not well written at all , Dokuro s very much Dokuro. It’s it’s own thing. Compare it to a roller coaster. Most of them have loopings and corkscrews and run really smooth. Dokuro is a coaster with some many elements of her own in it, you might very well dislike. Instead of rapid descents it like has a staircase.. instead of loopings it has a seesaw and instead of an acton photo somewhere you get like a party hat. Disjointed but unique. So whenever your real life friends keep making fun of your love for anime force them to watch Dokuro with you (and make sure they cant leave) .. they might die a little inside at first but trough Dokuro’s spell they will come back to live again… either more open minded…or just punished for talking bad about you beloved anime.

Adorable Games: A Hat in Time

Hey Island-guests welcome back to paradise. By now you will have noticed I am really into cute stuff. I prefer cuter anime, I am a plushie savant, I really like pink stuff and cute little critters and so on. So unsurprisingly I like cute games as well. Gears for Breakfast produced an adorable little platformer called A Hat in Time and it quickly grew out to be one of my favorite games. Two DLC packs in and a launch on Nintendo Switch in later, I want to share the love on this island.

As mad as a hatter

The plot of this collect-a-thon platformer is simple but wonderfully weird. You take control of a brave space traveller, by the name of Hat Kid. A young girl who lives all alone in her vast spaceship which is fueled by time energy. One day she is close to home when suddenly in mid space there is a knock on her window as the mafia shows up. Something goes wrong in this encounter and her time vault breaks open causing the timepieces, to scatter on the planet the mafia guy was from. Hat Kid goes to the planet to recover her missing timepieces.

She finds a friend in a mustachioed vigilante named Mustache Girl who decided to help her. But after realising what the time pieces can do she quickly turns on Hat Kid and decides to use the time pieces to destroy all that is evil … in an evil way. So now the race is on, to acquire enough time pieces to get Hat Kid home at least and stop Mustache Girl from her genocidal vigilantism. During your journey you have to collect enough yarn to create a series of hats that will grant you new abilities, while making movies, selling your soul and dealing with the Mafia. A simple premiss that is given shape by some wonderfully weird and flavorful characters. The writing is so funny and all the characters come alive. Even the scrubby mafia’s which are basically your equivalent to goomba’s in this game get a voice and some personality. Near the end basically everything does. A Hat in Time creates such a wonderful wacky and colourful world you keep wanting more. Each character crazier than the last but also unique and the proceedings in each stage nice come together, for a neat and somewhat touching conclusion. It is not a story that is meant to wow you, but you will constantly go .. .. awww thats so cute or charming. It also never seizes to surprise. The moment you find Hat Kids hidden pillow-ford and read her diary it only keeps getting better.

Hold on to your hat

This all is presented in lovely gameplay that is best represented in the silver age of 3d collect-a-thon platformers. The age of the Nintendo Gamecube like Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy , Whiplash or Mario Sunshine. Hat Kids natural moveset is fairly similar to that of the plumber but without that weird all water jug that he since.. only takes out for smash. Like most non “icons” of platforming Hat Kid has a double jump, which the big names never actually used but similar to Mario Hat Kid has a dive, can walk tightropes and she has a wall jump/ Hat Kid unlike Mario can do a little free running dashing up a bit as she wall jumps though, a nifty little trick that even puts Rayman’s ledge-grab to shame. Like Sonic n his 3d adventures she has a homing attack as well that can also help her get around. It is a very dynamic moveset that allows for pinpoint accuracy and uses the best of all the greats, while still feeling as her own. That sense of uniqueness mostly comes from the usage of the hats. Hat Kid gets access to six hats that allow her to do all sorts of neat stuff.

Her basic hat is he iconic top hat, which allows he to focus on mission objectives. The sprint hat gives you a speed boost and later on can even give you access to an adorable mount. The Witch Hat/Concoction had allows you to blow up certain objects. Her snow-cap allows her to use special transportation pads to launch the girl around the various stages. The Dweller had can materialise ghostly platforms or dematerialise “dreamlike” blocks. Her ultimate hat is the Time Hat which can pause time for a short amount of time. This kid isn’t just about hats though she can also customise these hats by equipping badges which apply several modifiers to the game. Like a featherfall, the ability to not bounce of walls in a dive or even a big beam attack when hitting with her Umbrella. She is one fashionable kid that knows how to get around. This all controls near flawlessly with you always feeling that any mistakes make are your own fault and not a poor control scheme. While the camera can give you some trouble at times, this very sparingly happened though and I could even see Gears from Breakfast doing this on purpose to get that nostalgic feeling. There would be times where the camera jittered where t made me more nostalgic than annoyed. The graphics are colorful and vibrant and the music, dear god how I love this music. I actually own the soundtrack to this game.. and this is the only piece of music I actually own because I am not to big on music. I adore this soundtrack and each stage has amazing musical framing and the boss themes are even better. By far my favorite Indie-game on the technical side.

Throwing your hat in the ring.

The base gameplay is way harder to explain than one might think. In essence we are dealing with a standard platformer but each stage is completely unique and every objective within that stage can play out completely different. The base game has four stages and forty time pieces, the two dlc’s add two new stages, 13 time pieces and a whole lot of other content, and then there are fan-mod levels which are highlighted as a genuine aspect of the game including achievements. There is a challenge mode as well as both online as offline co-op. Regardless of what you play your objective is always the same. Get the time piece, how you achieve this can differ greatly. From a simple platformer challenge to a murder mystery and from an mission where you have to assassinate an outhouse to stealthily infiltrating a movie studio. A Hat in time takes you on a unique adventure that you will want to complete from beginning to end. Even within each stage you goals are vastly different. In Maffia town I hunted golden tickets in a treasure hunt, I played the floor is lava (literally) and had a footrace ,against a guy on a rocket. In Subcon forest, I assassinated that outhouse and played hide and seek to save my life, from a super yandere. In Dead Bird Studio’s I defused a bomb and did a PR tour.. and then so much more. Every objective feels carefully crafted, like a miniature game of their own. Filled with great voice acting, funny jokes and tooth achingly sweet moments. All ending in one of the most satisfying and heartwarming conclusions I ever saw in a platform game, that sort of breaks the fourth wall.. yet also makes perfect sense is this vibrant world.

The two DLC stages are completely unique as well and both I can wholeheartedly recommend. The game has a solid lifespan for a platformer, depending on your skill the base game will last you between 10 and 15 hours, which is solid for a 3d platformer in it’s price range. The DLC and mostly the co-op and challenge mode adds many more hours and now that fan levels are a thing there is a healthy amount of gameplay time…at least for the completionist and trust me this is a game you want to complete.

Tipping my hat

Aside from the 50+ time pieces there is plenty to collect. First there are the buttons I mentioned earlier you can get from a strange glitchy vendor, whom you pay with pons, the currency of this game which you also collect and use throughout various stages. Then there are the hat flairs, color schemes and soundtracks. You an get these from completing so called time rifts, pure platforming focussed stages, that seem very similar to the FLUDDless stages of Mario Sunshine. The hat flairs can reshape your hats, and these can be very cute..if you get lucky. These are locked behind a RNG slot machine… which is a shame, luckily fan stages offer you a coin and gathering 3 allows you to use a slot machine to get more. Base game will disallow you to get everything but as the game is now, the joy of collecting just is greater. Downside to the RNG however still is, that you might have completed the entire game before getting that color scheme or flair you really wanted to use.

The DLC added some stickers to collect to decorate you umbrella with to make your character look more unique and accomplished in online or offline co-op games , fun but a bit more hollow than all the other collectables. My favorite collectable however are the artefacts. Each stage has a cute little artefact to complete, once completed you unlock a puple timerift, which allows you to find a children’s picture book telling the story of that stage.. or another cute story. These artefacts are in hidden packages scattered throughout the worlds. Completing them and assembling them on you spaceship allows you to read Hat Kids thoughts about them, surprise surprise, they are adorable Same for the story books! Keep your eyes open when playing this game and dont be afraid to explore, the game rewards you thoroughly.

Hats off to Hat in Time.

By now I think I made it clear that this game has won me over completely, move aside Mario, Hat Kid is here. Gears fom Breakfast has made this game that oozes love and cuteness. It’s clever, clean, cute, funny, invententive and more. If you like Banjo Kazooie, if you like Mario Sunshine or whatever 3d platformer is you thing, this game is one you should not miss. This game is probably my favorite PC game ever and most certainly my favorite Indie-game. While it does have it’s quirks and could technically improve some minor things these are all nitpicks that hardly blemish a game that shines brightly from beginning to end. Hat Kid deserves it to be one of the great platforming heroes of her generation and she definitely deserves a sequel. A sequel that I am sure that will come, I will eat my hat otherwise. Luckily this hat has a delicious flavor.

Top 5: Favorite Pink Shiny Pokémon

Little subjects, last week we talked about my top five favorite Pink Pokémon. The post did quite well remarkably. Because I do care about all of your feelings, just not that much, I have decided to entertain you with another list of pinkness. This week we will discuss the pokémon that have a 1 in 4096 chance to be pink! The top 5 pink shinies. In order to qualify the pokémon’s main colour has to be significantly different from its original form. Each entry shall feature an image of the original pokemon as well as it’s shiny variation. The shiny one will always be the pinkest one!

Number 5: Shiny Buneary

Buneary and Lopunny are cute bunny pokémon introduced in the fourth generation, the first for buneary has to be leveled up through the power of friendship to reach its full potential. I already really love the concept of friendship evolutions in the pokémon games but they can get tedious when it’s needed on frail pokémon like Buneary. To make sure you max friendship you have to make sure they don’t go down in battle, but use them in battle which means you automatically start caring for these pokémon and a bond is sure to happen. Especially in the generations where you don’t have tamato berries (which raise friendship) to shove down their throats Buneary to me was such a pokémon and to find out it’s shiny was very pink made that bond even stronger.

It’s available enough to actually shiny hunt (which makes goes for all the shinies on this list) so you don’t have to reset the game over and over and over. It lives in a beautiful habitat to search for it and unlike my number 1 pick, you can evolve it and still have a pink shiny. Decent in battle and with the right set up even unstoppable. This little bunny can kick your ass and look like it’s covered in cotton candy while doing it. That makes it a pretty perfect shiny for me, being normal type it’s of my best liked typing on this entire list. Cute in its basic state, Waifu Material to some (I don’t kinkshame.. but I am not into her) in its stage 1 form and usable in battle as a Mega Evolution. This Pink shiny caters to a lot of different people.

Number 4: Shiny Hypno

A pink shiny that has a creepy quality to it is always fun. Hypno in its regular yellow form is already known for taking little children by hypnotising them and vanishing with them. The pink version looks even creepier, like a weird naked guy that shows up to the park and then hypnotises your child to take it away. In a way he reminds me of Adrian Toomes the Vulture from the spider-man comics and mostly the way Vulture was depicted in 1994’s Spider-Man cartoon series. In this show Toomes was a bald old man, whose costume had a fur collar much like Hypnos. He would attack victims with a special made flight suit to siphon their youth for a while. I could see shiny hypno taking a child than eating it’s dreams to make itself younger and the kid would age or grow up without dreams or something. Maybe I can use it if I ever do a spider-mon story.

While I never really used a Hypno on my teams it is a somewhat solid party member that can function as something that can take special attacks very well. Its attacking stats aren’t more than average, but with moves like Future Sight, Hypnosis and Nightmare you can at least turn it into something your opponent has to struggle to deal with.

It was one of the first pokémon I intensely tried to shiny hunt in Pokémon Go… and failed, which led to one of my weirdest Zoo outings ever, where I ignored the watch where you go warning and ended up in an interesting situation. Unlike all the other shinies on this list he’s not cute or cuddly and that’s what I really like about this design, maybe it is only because my imagination is this vivid but I just found this hypnotic pokémon a real creeper in it’s shiny form! Which is great for a pokémon that lorewise is kind of a creeper anyway. If you are under the age of 12 and see someone like this standing in a dark alley run!

Number 3: Shiny Ampharos

The final evolution of the Mareep line.. as well as the entire line for that matter, have always been my favorite electric type pokémon. It is one of the types i care very little for being weak to the very common ground moves and being strong to flying and water whom I usually have better answers for (grass and rock) when I use electric moves they are usually on other types to exploit better STAB. Yet Mareep, Flaaffy and Ampharos were my most beloved pokémon during my first time playing trough Gold and Silver. I didn’t nickname them back than yet so I could remember the species name but when I obtained Soulsilver I caught another one I named Curly Bob. Curly Bob must have had a much better nature then my old Ampharos because he was the most badass pokémon on my team. He put my typhlosion to shame, which may have had something to do that back then I did not understand all the nuances of the game and I slapped some random moves on him.

Since I am a person who hates grinding or repetitive tasks , I wasn’t the biggest shiny hunter in the world so until a while ago I never knew what shiny ampharos looked like. I love a pokémon whether they are shiny or not Curly Bob would get as much love as BeepBeep got (my shiny Ampharos in Pokémon Go). While it doesn’t really read as a sheep anymore and the mega form isn’t pretty Ampharos is just a treat to have in your party. Having access to a nice moveset , including fighting type moves and normal type moves alongside recently some dragon type moves it’s really a pokémon that can help you deal with a lot of obstacles thrown at you at pokémon gold and silver. I always remembered how good that sheep was too me. With a shiny as pink as the one it got, the fond memories of this particular pokemon only grew stronger.

Number 2: Shiny Furret

Another gen II , Johto pokémon that got a great shiny (I would have put Crobat instead of Buneary but like the last list I do wanted some generation variation) and a adorable pink one as well. I love Furret. Sentret was the first pokémon I caught in Pokémon Gold to go alongside my Chikorita and I always caught a sentret in my subsequent runs. Though I never found a shiny of course this pokémon just had ‘something’ because of how cute it’s evolution was. It’s by far the most adorable “first route’ critter you can find. While Zigzagoon and Linoone are better Furret is just absolutely amazing on it’s own.

This was the first pokémon I actively wished for as an actual pet. I mean who wants a fire breathing dragon when you can have a ringed speedy ferret. I wanted a ferret as a pet because of this pokémon but I never get one. Well I got one of those balls with a fake ferret attached to it for the fest of “Sinterklaas’ but it wasn’t really the same. It’s hard to explain why I liked a basic pokémon THAT much. I did not in generation one, and I haven’t cared as much since. Even now I think… maybe I should get a ferret, but let’s not, it would not get along with the tame duck I have to get myself one day.

Shiny furret kind of looks like a raspberry candy cane.. a fluffy one which makes it all the more innocent and cute looking. A set I like to run is the one where I poison my beloved pink ferret with a Toxic Orb, than give it the move Facade for some high power damage. It also can learn trick to poison other people, Sucker Punch to always strike first and Brick Break to deal with pesky barriers and deal damage to the types that resist it. like rock and steel types. It only survives for a few turns with a toxic orb but by that time if can have wreaked some havoc. It isn’t a warmachine..but each time a shiny furret pops on my screen I am just smiling contently and that is enough.

Number 1: Shiny Ducklett

I love ducks, not in the amorous way but still I love them a lot. Possibly my favorite animal ever, they are just something amazing to me. They make the cutest sound, have the cutest walk and have the best size for an animal, they have the best kind of poop, their food is relatively cheap. They can fly but if they are loyal to you they do come back or they can just waddle around. They can even be somewhat affectionate.. of course not on the levels of a dog or a cat but more than a goldfish or hamster. So like a bunny they do fall in the perfect category. The bunnies have better poop but can ruin your furniture. So great pets! Like a ferret as well. I would not mind a sheep as a pet either… only the old man that preys on childs is not really a great pet. The poop of that one is also the worst to clean up.

Back to our topic. Ducklett is a water flying type introduced to us in generation V, Unova. In its regular form it’s a cyan duck with some blue belly feathers. Shiny those belly feathers become purple and it’s main body the cutest pink. Since its evolution is non pink you’ll have to give it an Everstone item that blocks evolution though, which kinda makes it fairly worthless to battle. Not a single tat is even average it’s all below. However you can let use Rain Dance on a rain team or Tail Wind to buff up your team’s speed. Their even is the Endavour + Focus Sash + Quick attack tech to ensure the little pink duck still gets a kill. Trading a Ducklett for a Mewtwo still is a good thing.

Ducklett is just such a cute pokémon, I loved the thug ducks in the black and white anime, I love how it has an abilty called Big Pecks and the Ducklett gives are amazing. I hope that my pet duck , as soon as I start making money again , will be half as adorable as these. I might even name it Big Pecks. You can never go wrong with a duck let alone a pink duck! And while we will talk about another Pink Duck at one point in this blog’s future this one is the most adorable one and the cutest pink shiny there is! In Black and White 2 it spawns in an area where it’s just Ducklett as well so shiny hunting is relatively easily!.. Except for the shiny odds in that game still being 8120 or so.. Big Pecks! Tiny odds!

Weird Pokémon Merchandise

Hey big monster people, its Chibi Pinkie again with a brand new post. Earlier Princess Pinkie send me a bunch of pokemon toys to look at. Stuff that we do not actually own but for the sake of this story will pretend too. Yet it was still fun to pretend! Though there are a lot of toys I did not really understand.. when I asked Princess Pinkie she just laughed really hard behind her fan thing! Maybe you can figure it out?

The Pokémon Finger Skateboard

Now this one was still a bit fun to play with.. but it’s like super retro like. So once upon a time before fidget spinners were cool and like whatever finger thing is hot right now… like way way way before… back in the late nineties the cool people like unwinded from all their stress by playing with a skateboard for your fingers. It was the age that people went crazy for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, the video game and everyone wanted to ollie and grind. So to relax there was this skateboard you could move right and left while wiggling your fingers. The coolest people out there could do tricks with them as well, like kids with Yoyo’s could walk the dog with their Yoyo .. people could do flips and stuff with their fingers. Which was a lot nicer than breaking every bone in your body. For some reason the pokémon company thought , well the finger skateboard market is something we need to get into or maybe it was the finger skateboard companies that thought.. we gotta use pokémon for some ‘sick’ deck designs. I think SICK was used as a good word back then. So they made some skateboards with pokémon on them.. for your fingers of course. Among a few other pokémon they chose clefairy and pidgeot to feature on their boards because that’s what the cool kids wanted. A dancing moon fairy and that bird Ash gave away. Kinda weird!

The Snorlax Bed or Pikachu Bed

Now this one was sold on Etsy once as a custom product, never officially licensed but it got kinda famous. So famous in fact that there was a more mass produced Pikachu version of it. I think that one had an official licence but I can’t be sure. You see in Japanese the beds are very different from ours. They are oftenly called Fuuton .. or something like that. They are more like rolls or those big soft things i always crashed into when we were having gymnastics at gym class. Their beds are always like on the floor without any feet or wooden casings .. you just plonf it there. Snorlax and Pikachu are those kinds of bed.. but do they look comfy I would totally get on. Princess Pinkie told me that I would not be able to hide dirty magazines under it.. but I don’t read a lot of magazines and why would they get dirty? At worst there are some crumbs on them and you can like wipe those off easily. With this bed you can sleep in Snorlax Belly or on Pikachu’s stomach sort off.. there’s like a flap of clothes you can lie under and their head is filled with … well you actually decided cause you have to buy that separately But yeah you can turn their head into a pillow. That’ nice I bet that is a whole lot better than my pillow. These bed thingies cost you about $350 dollars without the filling and without shipping so I guess compared to our beds they are pretty cheap as well. That’s like the price you pay for a mid quality mattress and those do not look as cute! Sleeping in this Snorlax is definitely a dream for me…but it’s kinda weird you slide into his belly.

Pokémoan

The princess told me that if I ever should get one of those beds I would need to get these toys as well. I do not know what they are but they look like silicon rods based on the kanto starter pokémon. The name is also spelled wrong so maybe these are like bootlegs? At first I thought they were like decoration.. like some of those african statues.. but when I displayed them on my windowsill people got really upset and embarrassed for some reason so I don’t think they liked them. According to the princess these make you feel good when you are alone and no one wants to give you special hugs, these will make you feel like you are getting special hugs. I don’t really get it though. One is shaped like a charmanders tail, which is kinda cute.. but I just hope they did not cut it off a charmander or it would die. The Bulbasaur one has the bulb on a green stick which confuses me even more.. why not make Ivysaur’s flower? That be prettier than just a seed right? It would make me a lot happier if it was blooming at least. The squirtle one kinda looks like a squirtle so I found that one the most fun to play with! But It did not have a face so I had to draw one on there. The pikachu one is really weird it’s thin and edgie and looks very frail. It has some weird bulbs and protrusions everywhere so I am not sure what to do with it.. it kinda looks like a toy dagger.. but I don’t like daggering. For something that doesn’t really look like a toy.. but claims itself to be a toyy.. they sure are expensive. They cost about $70 each.. with some a bit pricier and some being cheaper. Oddly enough there is this website Geekysextoys that sells them combined for $119 dollars. I dont know what a Geekysex is but they have a lot more toys that as confusing as these ones. There was a nice pink octopus I think his name was Burt Plug ..but he was expensive and for some reason I could not buy anything unless I was like 18+

Pokémon Dakimakura

This one has like a difficult word in the name but it’s like a weird two sided pillow featuring several pokémon. The weirdest one I found was the dragon ground pokémon Flygon. I like how the pillow it’s depicted on is pink but it kinda looks like it has been hit by toxic. It kinda looks sick staring at you feverishly.. like it is out of breath. This one sold on that Etsy website again. Aside from Flygon there is also one of like Lopunny who mega evolves if you flip the pillow over and vaporeon there’s even one of Sylveon and Glaceon. The last one is kinda cute.. but they kinda all take weird poses. They have these weird look in their eyes..something wild, I can not explain it but it scares me a bit. Like they really wanted to get a belly rub or something. They are made by some studio named Lemon Creme, who are still active on Etsy.. people really like their stuff as they have gotten a five star rating. These pillow casing are made of something called peachskin polyester and will cost you about $70 dollars. I asked on the forums why every poiémon looked like they had a fever but I only got a reply saying ‘no kink shaming’ I think they must not have spoken english very well and that they meant to say .. no Klink.. that’s a shame! A klink is a cogwheel pokémon that is a steel type.. so it would be immune to poison moves like toxic. So I guess that kinda makes sense but not really. Pikachu Panties

I like Pikachu but this Pikachu underwear seems a bit unpractical. There’s like ears attached to it and I dont get why you’d want that on your underwear. It seems like a really weird way to cosplay Pikachu , going out in your underwear. It’s made by a japanese girl I think who promises on her website that if I am in love while I buy these I will have sleepless nights. So somehow these panties have the power to bestow insomnia, but only when you are in love. I guess it could be neat if you are still in school and have to study all night for a test or something.. and kids in school these days are like always in love but still it confuses me and seems extremely situational. The Pika ears have a really soft inner lining though so does the panty itself so apparently it is quite comfy. I just don’t get why you want a Pikachu right there.. if a other person sees what’s underneath they’ll usually be shocked anyway.

Uncle Hulks Pokémon Spandex Suits

I like cosplaying and lot of people like it with me. There a lot of pokémon Kigurumis which is like weeaboo for onesie. It’s nice to wear but on a convention you don’t really stand out in one of those. A nice man named Uncle Hulk must have thought the same. So he began crafting all sorts of suits. Unfortunately for Uncle Hulk I do not think these work out that well… they are kinda creepy and weird looking. It kinda looks like a character from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure poached a pokémon than wore their skin as a suit. If a pokémon ever would try to enter a Pokéleague looking like that they would be dragged off for X Attack abuse. The lucario one also looks kinda cross eyed. They would fail a doping test harder than Lance Armstrong would.. which is quite bad. So even though Uncle Hulk means well I think unless you want to scare someone so hard that their soul exits their body these bodysuits don’t measure up.

Slowpoke Tail Plushie

W-W-Why? Why would they do this? It’s a plushie of a severed pokémon part which you can buy for about $15 dollars. You can see the blood and the bone still being there. While I know that slowpoke tail as a delicacy and item in the pokémon world it seems kinda weird to make a plushie of it. You can’t eat it after all. I don’t think many people would be happy with a severed arm plushie.. so why a severed tail Plushie? It seems rather horrifying. In Pokémon Gold and Silver we discover that Team Rocket has taken over the slowpoke well and is cutting of the tails to sell them off at huge prices so it is a quest line. The item is even depicted with an icon that looks like it in the later games. Yet a plushie is usually collected because it is cute. I do not really think the concept of this tail is cute.. nor would I feel any need to hug a severed tail.. and I am me! I’d hug my bags of garbage to say goodbye to one of my beloved mugs that fell or I’d hug a sponge because I imagined it alive while cleaning the house. Still a severed tail is not going to happen for me.. even if I feel bad for the tail now that I say it. There is also a keychain variant/lucky charm for t and oddly enough that one I kinda get… but an actual plushie is kinda spooky. The item is sold on Etsy by a shop named SewMeARiver if you are interested. It’s a lot soften nicer and cheaper than those other stick things at least, even if its a severed limb plushie!

Now there still are quite a few pokémon oddities to find out there, in fact the weirdest isn’t even on here yet. I do hope you enjoyed our little peek in the weirder pokémon goodies out there and Chibi Pinkie’s views on them. Do note that all these goodies have been found without bypassing any age restrictions or the likes I crawled in the mindset of Chibi and this is what a little time of google and adjacent pages had me find!
