I have made these type of posts before where I show you a list of stuff I want to buy! Fun gadgets, cute plushies and much more this wonderful world has to offer. I have been wanting to make another wish list for quite some time now but I never could find a theme! …. well Blog Birthday gifts are as good a reason as any so I picked five gifts I’d gift myself.. themed after my blog!It might also help you yesterday’s give away/contest .
For those who haven’t noticed yet , I am a big fan of pink things , that are also bright and bubbly!
Sanrio’s Hello Kitty would make a good mascotte for me if I was not that scared by human girls who actually look like cats. You can blame a certain musical movie for that. So I guess I will stick to Bonbonribbon as my favourite Sanrio mascotte! However that last one doesn’t have this awesome pink cereal dispenser! Why do I need a cereal dispenser anyway? Why for my Pinkie’s Saturday Anime Adventure posts of course! My blog series where I watch anime as if they are saturday morning Cartoons! Sure it is nice to poor unicorn fruit loops from their box and see the actual unicorn.. but the box is red! This dispenser is PINK! And also slightly geeky! People could walk in my box of a house, see the pink dispenser filled with the soft coloured fruit flavoured loops and be like…. yep that fits her really well!
For some reason these things sell really well though! So I am currently unable to by one but since this weeks is all about hypothetical gifts anyway I’d stay it’s still a legit pick! If I ever have any spare money laying about I might actually get this one for “the memes” but as it is right now I do not actually have space for it in my little apartment! In a slightly bigger house I totally intend to get this though! It’s cute , pink and so me! It’s also very sold out everywhere so I will travel across the lands searching far and white. To pink my house and cute it up, to put cereal inside! A great gift and if I go through the effort of gift wrapping it which I suck at by the way, I bet it would look like a really impressive big box of gift! Yay! Big gifts!
Those who have been following me for most of the year know about my love for plushies and something coming up on that front as well! But the heart always wants more!
Among the Galar pokémon Alcremie turned out to be my absolute favourite, even blowing my expected favourite Galarian Ponyta out of the water. I just fell in love with Whippy my Alcreamie. It might be a contestant from one of my favourite pokémon ever at this point alongside Sylveon and Bulbasaur.. there is just one big difference. I do have a bulbasaur and Sylveon plushie but no Alcremie one! So that should change! While searching for it I stumbled upon this custom made life sized one! It looks so sweet I’d kinda wanna lick it.. but that is probably a bad idea!
Not only do plushies taste terrible this specific store is quite outside my price range as well! A 7 inch Plushie could still go for about $95,- and the life size Appletun.. which by the way is also amazing and I definitely want that as well goes for as much as $250 dollars US. THat is like way way way…..(way) outside my plushie Price-Range. While The Alcremie is not currently in stores I suspect it would cost around $150 dollars based on its size! A normal Alcreamie Plushie would run about $30 dollars and will most likely be the one I actually end up getting. Yet since this is a wishlist I thought I’d add the stupidly pricey one just because it is so much more fun to see! I do not think it’s overpriced either.. because clearly a lot of hours go into this one! I am just pointing out this is something I am not currently able to do! I do believe in the power of dreaming however and if there are people with budget left and a desire to own Pokémon that are custom made for you! This next gift is based on some of the interactions with people i had as a blogger! And of course my general “image”
In my attempt to be a real world anime girl, there are a few items and experiences I need. One of these items is a Phone Strap! I once promised to give Irina one as she would give me one! Yet just like I never actually gave her one.. I doubt she is giving me one! She doesn’t even know where I live! However I have found the perfect phone strap for her! I would present that here! Check to the side! That is perfect for her isn’t it?! I am so good at looking up phone straps!. Perfection! I dare you to disagree! It works on so many levels!
I have found a few good options for myself but I finally encountered something that really spoke to me. I am not sure what it is from but when I saw this picture it just spoke to me. These are apparently called Star Hoppe Chans! It’s like a mascotte that became popular due to phone straps! So it is perfect. I considered getting a pokémon but all the other 893 is Pokémon would be sad they are not my phone strap! A unicorn would also be a cute phone strap but this slime with a lot of sparkly things ..just sings to me! In my research for a cute phone strap I had like 12 options sitting for me and then I saw Hoppe Chan. It symbolises my randomness quite well! As a slime can change shape! The extra elements also seem to have little to do with the slime so we are a match made in heaven!
Now of course this would break one phone strap trope, the anime friends having matching phone straps. Irina’s strap and mine would not look alike! So I looked on but I stepped up my game these had to be a bit weirder. Then I found the Hello Kitty Eco Hime Toilet Sound Blocker. Which is like a Hello Kitty medal thing in pink or purple you plug in your phone or key strap or whatever and when you go to the toilet it drowns your own watering sounds by playing the sound of running water. Think of all the social inconvenience we save with these $45 dollar a piece phone straps! I mean I can almost buy 60 Hoppe Chan’s for that money and like 120 if I get like a Toilet Blocker for me and Rini-Senpai.. but yes.. having the ability to play water sounds while at a toilet sounds… barely useable. Like at a friends house I will just turn on their faucets..or in small bathrooms there usually is a sink! So the only place I could use it in like theme parks or stuff..where 20 other woman are making peeing sounds themselves. I would be like the most relax japanese woman ever if i went to live there. I might just play Pink Fluffy Unicorns to distract people if I really felt awkward but at least this gadget comes in pink!
I am quite obsessed with weirdness, like I would love to have things in my house and people constantly asking. What the heck is that. When they point out at a brown like object next to my tv!
Then I an go like ‘Oh that is my Shouting Vase, it contains my anger’ and then they would be like ‘Nani?’ as I would explain this to them. A shouting vase is like a japanese invention that “absorbs” your screams.. Think of it like screaming into a pillow without hundred of dust mite thingies going inside your body! It your anger is like a pistol, this is your silencer. Then it also has the metaphorical meaning of now containing your anger! Like it got Mafubaad (Evil containment waved..an evil sealing technique from Dragon Ball) into a jar! That is lot better than having the anger float around your house! Many salty gamer should have this one! Playing a lot of retro games that are often quite hard a shouting vase can really come in handy for me.
That isn’t everything though! Since I have started watching Uwe Boll movies I have found myself cursing the guy a lot! He really doesn’t make the greatest movies! Postal was one of the worst movies I ever saw and I really have a destructive review ready for that one. My experience could have definitely used a shouting jar. Social Media also frustrates me sometimes and I say some things that are not very nice about some people I think are not very nice either. I won’t tell you who they are but a certain author is at least among the many more! I try to censor my swears on my blog so I think my potty mouth should belong into pottery as well! With this gadget I can even seem more innocent and pink than I actually am so it is totally on brand!
For my last gift I considered a full batman samurai armor to prove my weebness to the world.. but that would not fit plus at $6500 I would not even buy that with fictional dollars. My second options I considered was a hello Kitty Vacuum cleaner! I really like this one but I could not find out anything about it’s dimensions! It might be for kids and my back is to bad for for such an endeavor also.. my vacuum is mostly hidden from people and I would like people to see the awesome gifts I have gotten.
So instead I settled on candles! I love candles! But what I love more is messing with people’s heads! The company that makes this cup noodle candle makes lots of candles that look like other stuff. So I would like to host a party and put a bowl of cup noodles on fire than Light it like a candle to see the people look surprised. There is also a Miso Soup Bowl one that looks quite amazing. Or like a bowl of nuts one! Yet this one is definitely the best.
It like has an actual cup noodle lid on them you can remove.. the packaging looks genuine and me and my friends love Samurai cup noodles or basicly any japanese noodle commercial noodles! They are amazing things! I really can’t wait to see their stupefied face and think this candle is like the coolest candle they ever saw! I’m vein like that I wish to give them that rabbit hole experience whenever I host something. That’s just me! Even movie watching nights usually have an element of surprise to them! I’d love to do a Action Bollywood Movie Day where we go to an indian place in the middle and where we play indian styled Batsu games with some spicy stuff as punishment! Other times I’d invite them to totally random night.. will we play a game? Will we watch an anime? Will we go out for drinks who knows the dice decides! So yes those candles really we enforce my weirdness! Yet with $19 dollars a money it feels like I am burning a 20 dollar bill.. just kinda slowly! I bet it would start NOT look like cup noodles really fast though.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to my blog! But still mostly to me! Island Guests! I have done it! I have existed for a year now! *cue stock sound effect of children cheering* On the 16th of July 2019 Pinkie first spoke to you.. Pinkie was created as a character.. though she did have an earlier rendition that doesn’t count! Since It’s my birthday, even though not my actualy birthday I am going to take it easy today and instead let you do the hard work! But for the one who does best I have a reward that means a very great deal to me!
Today I am giving away a copy of Ducktales Remastered for Steam!…Well.. except that I am not.. today I launch the competition to win this esteemed gift! Well l have been very local by love for the classic NES Ducktales! Of course since I don’t have a slew of regional NES systems available to me so I can’t EXACTLY give you the game that forged me! I can give you the next best thing in the form of the 2013 Remastered version! Check the trailer here!
A great platformer with good controller support, voice acting from the original Ducktales Cast. A platforming adventure that takes you to many places in the world. Now including Duckburg and with a more exciting finale! Help Scrooge McDuck , the richest duck in the world, become even richer by hunting for 5 mystical treasures that includes CHEESE! Jake Kaufman recomposed the masterful tunes of the original into amazing works of art! I especially love his take on the Amazone theme. I normally share the Moon theme with you..but something tells me you might have heard it! So here is the Amazone theme!
If your computer is old enough to survive today it should be able to run this game no problem! So there is a plus! If you like games like Shovel Knight or Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.. this game is the facelifted grandmother of many of their mechanics! Play as the best animal a world! The tame duck, and visit more exciting locations than you would in your average James Bond game. You’ll be able to finish this game in under three hours, but then there is still heaps to unlock dive into a pile of gold coins and unlockable artwork including that of the original series! Find out what has me so obsessed and participate!

How did you get into anime?

I wrote a post about that here which tells you my origin story exactly. The short version, I tried to be a normie for quite a while in my life until people began to bully and shun me despite my efforts to be normal. Due to people quiting my project group and leaving me without their work I got drafted in another college-work-group and those guys happend to be big anime lovers who talked about nothing else and made a business plan centered about it. I had to learn what it was and it just re-fueled the geek inside me. While I was already fully being shunned I just embraced it this time and ran with it, even got a internship in it and then I was unleashed.. for the deeper story once more you can click here. If you ran your own blog camp what would it look like?

Is that like a camp to teach people blogging or a camp for bloggers to hang out with each other? I strongly believe people should find their own voice and that is only reached by making mistakes and experimentation so an educational camp would be more less completely focused on finding yourself. Where in the morning I’ll make you write something about a topic none of you feel comfortable with.. like the alchemy allegories of Pokémon or describing yourself as a fruit monkey including an outfit made of a protein.Then in the afternoon a free writing assignment. Comparing the piece you wrote in the morning and afternoon should have a clear winner! If you read this blog most likely you are a hobby blogger, I’d focus a plan on setting aside ambition as that can easily stifle creativity and makes you unable to discover your voice. Having ambition is fine but it should not be a starting point! First find yourself as a writer, find your voice and style and only then tweak it to appeal more widely. It’s like how a voice actor has to discover what they can do. You find your sound first then can learn to adapt and modify..if you just pretend to be Mark Hamill’s Joker while you can’t actually pull it off you’ll damage your vocal cords and be uit of the business. Writing to me is like that too! Let’s have fun and support each other, so maybe some team building exercises would be part of the course as well.
My real camp would not be educational at all though. It would just be people in a hotel..because.. in the woods we’d have very bad wifi…or at least a camp with wifi. We share breakfast and write a post together like all our laptops in the same hall. Maybe even for each others blogs to like get that team spirit going and for the rest of the day I’d think up silly games that represents us as bloggers. You know like physical games.
Stuff like giant Scrabble where two teams play scrabble but the tiles are made out of big foam mats like the stuff they make pool noodles off.. big enough so two people have to carry it. You really have to work as a team to make some words. Or maybe Thesaurus Hangman. Where you ask for a letter and make a word.. but only can answer it with a synonym. Let’s also not forget the WordPress Block Editor game.. where you try to rebuild a sample of for example a castle with your own old school wooden playing blocks! But since it’s WordPress one Block is Super Oily.. the other is super glued to another so you can only place it when you placed some other. One block is not an actual block but a piece of paper.. so you have to find the block that doesn’t below and tape the shape to it. Which reflects our struggles of dealing with WordPress.
Amazing prices can be won with Spam post bingo . You get a bingo card with 9 objects on it. Like Sneakers, A Slot Machine, A pot of pills and of course money. A random blogger is summoned forth to open their site and check their spam folder..whatever the top post is trying to make you buy or sign up to.. is a hit on your bingo card. And these are just a few of the amazing games I will set up for you all at camp Pinkie… there also will be booze and pink cupcakes…someone please make the cupcakes.

That is all! I am not a big book reader anymore, I like blogs and sometimes I pick up a manga and heck I might even pick up a book but I am not someone who plans this. I do like browsing cute bookstores like Livraria Lello in PortoPortugal and sometimes a book tells me it wants go go home with me and then I do take it and read it. Yet it is all impulse! So no lists! I don’t even have an order for my video game movies I just pick something at whim.

What game would you like to review but currently can’t get your hands on?

I bet you’d be really upset if my only answer was Boonga Boonga! That definitely IS one of them though. I have a thing for weird games, horror games cute games and retro games. Boonga Boonga defiantly is the first. It’s a arcade game where you spank people, like the tax collector or your mother in law. Not that i am really into spanking I’d just really love to review that game. Under that same banner I’d love to review Pepsiman and Cho Aniki for PS-One.. but I don’t have a PS-One let alone know if those games are region locked! So there are some games I really like to review but can’t.
A little more attainable are Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX and Link’s Awakening on Switch. I’d love to review those two but they are a bit expensive since they are in essence just remakes, I love how they look but they are quite pricey for what they are .. I’m afraid I’d score them poorly just for their price-tag. So for that reason I am waiting for them to go on sale. In the Steam Department there is Dragon Ball Z Kakarot that is in a same vein as those earlier two. I am sure it will be a pretty amazing game but not worth the bucks! Also not sure if my Laptop Would run it. This also goes for a couple of horror games like Plague: Tale of Innocence, Song of Horror and mostly Call of Cthulhu. There is not THAT much I want on Steam and having my money locked into Steam usually sucks and I end up buying something I don’t really care for so I am weary to buy these.

What is your favourite Music Track and Band
Pinkie Answered:
I am not very big on music let alone bands.. I like video game music and instrumental stuff but true good music for me is not the music on it’s own amazing music to me is something that amplifies another experience. Like the Ducktales Moon theme being the song of my childhood, due to me beating that game and that stage being my Magnum Opus of gaming back then! Another good example of a music piece I love is This Is Me, from the Greatest Showman. While on its own its own it is impressive and resonates with me being LBGT+ as well as my general outtake on live to just be me.. it resonates as strongly with me as it does because it’s one of the last good memories I have with my father before he began to pull away and condemn his former family. Yet it is also a song that makes me realise that is okay, I would not want to change just so my father would like me more.. this is who I am I tried often enough in the past to change it so if he can’t deal with that.. to bad This is Me.
This also applies to smaller memories for examples one of my favourite tracks ever is Kyrary Pamyu Pamyu’s Harajuku Iyahoi. The first time I listend to it/saw it was when a important friend moved away ..after she left a good friend at the alter because she fell in love with another guy. I still cared for her.. and I talked to her.. she never expected it to happen but she realised while she could make my friend happy she would not be if she stayed. I was afraid I would lose her in my life but one day she invited us to her new house and we had a fun night with pizza, talking and watching music.. when this music began to play I knew we would still be friends for some reason. I met her through writing and she sent me to my first con for her blog,where Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Ponponpon was the big thing..meanwhile she realised I was sociable and she invited me over.. so that song to me became like a symbol of us becoming friends and Harajuku Iyahoi of us staying friends. And well there is also the amazing video!

I know that you’re new to anime, what other types of media (besides bad movies) do you watch?

Well new is a big word, I have just seen significantly less than most of you. I’ve been watching anime for maybe 8 to 10 years but do to having a less supportive platform a good chuck of it I did not clock THAT many flight hours. I watch a lot of other stuff, like adult cartoons! I am madly in love with Hazbin Hotel but also stuff like Futurama. Would you believe it I also watch some good movies! I am actually quite a big movie buff. I am a big fan of horror which mostly means bad movies but there are a few gems out there. I also am a big fan of movies like Catch Me if You Can. I watch a lot of movies, some horrible .. like that Lion King Remake.. or Cats..or Troll 2 and Rubber, some good, I don’t like war movies though or most time piece movies. I also love Sentai Shows and used to like those supernatural shows like Buffy IZombie , Charmed, Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Winnona Earp stuff like that.. just not recently. I have fallen a bit out of love with the 45 minute/ 60 minute episode format shows. I need that time to watch 3,5 hour tabletop games on Youtube!
I follow a handful of Pokétubers on YouTube and Twitch and I really love card openings or Dragon Ball Gatcha Videos. I totally Adore the analysis videos of Totally Not Mark on Dragon Ball and One Piece and I like to watch Kizuna Ai play video games as well ProJared who really plays ot my sense of nostalgia, despite all the accusations and all. Masoko X’s story telling really inspires me ..but besides those I don’t follow a lot of other YouTubers.. There is Chris Stuckmann I watch for movie reviews, I do like the Completionist as well. I HATE those extremely shouty YouTubers like Pewdiepie, Filthy Frank or those who speak in memes or laugh at their own jokes all the time. I want to see a person. The only one who can scream is Ai-Chan because she is adorable.

What is your best Childhood Memory?

One memory I have I am particularly fond of is playing Nintendo 64 with my baby sister. We would play smash where I’d pick Kirby and she’d pick Pikachu ..facing of on the Star Fox ship not sure how the stage was called on N64 cause it’s in space and not on the planet the stage is named for. We would play some skitch usually travel related.. Kirby would be traveling on the same ship as Pikachu and be a annoyingly talkative passenger, wanting to make Friends.. Pikachu meanwhile just came from a long hard pokébattle so he is super annoyed when a pink baby asks him .. they eventually get in a fight and face of.. We wrote a lot of versions of that story and act it out as if they were action figures. We’d play for hours the journey taking them to other stages as they fought on! It all had a bit of a slapsticky feel but it was amazing! It was just great fun and it was the one game I could win my sister would not smack me for winning.So that’s a plus!

Mostly the romanticised image of being a content creator. We all see Guy X get an amazing amount of likes, health communities with everyone having their own Subreddit these days, the whole going viral idea. It makes the world of blogging seem much larger than it actually is. It’s easy to see a big blogger and think “I can do that” because the numbers we get on WordPress pale in comparison to things that are so common to us like Instagram, Twitter and even YouTube. Because we so oftenly see influencers gain a million followers it’s easy to classify numbers like 1000 as small. It creates a titled view of the world by exposure of sorts. Being a creator means people following you .. so people liking you right? I am cool now?! Yet then you notice.. another creator like you having 10x the likes.. and suddenly you feel super unliked!
Keeping your blog being about you despite these expectations is one of the hardest things I had to face. Stuff like measuring likes, ..because we see it on YouTube, gathering as many followers as we can because we do it on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can warp blogging into something that it’s not. It is just so easy to fall for this because without effort we can know exactly how big everyone’s page is. WordPress, Twitter, YouTube.. they all display the number of followers and likes.. easy for the world to see and compare .. and for someone who had to fight to be noticed most of their lives.. that can be a bit of a curse. I’ts great that I have 300+ people following me but that other blog might grow faster..or that one blog with less followers gets more likes, it is easy to feed insecurities in this system. Then there is the marketing content! The following syndrome Exposure to so many articles on HOW to write a blog.. who structurally tell you not to be to personal.. not to tell your real opinion but a bit of a watered down version.. word counts etc.. it all is there for us to get lost in. Then we can also easily end up as copies of those we aspire to be. There is only one Karandi..so people wanting to imitate that style will oftenly just come of as a “lesser version” I will not be a professional and with that comes a different set of rules, but this is a set of rules that is written nowhere, no one tells you how to be yourself how to make blogging fun for you.. that you have to discover and it’s easy to get disheartened before then..because all around you .. you see signals to be different.

What would you call a great day?

If I expect a day to be a certain way ahead of time it can only be disappointing or living up to my expectations now can it?! If I can get through the day without needing my pacemaker it’s already a good day! Achieving some of the things that stumble on my path definitely help. My life is kinda like one of those clicker mobile games.. you know you tab on computer and a timer goes down as your character writes her blog and when she is done a lot of collectables spawn which you swipe over to collect. It’s quite easy to beat a level with one star.. and that means i progress which already is great! If I expect to get three stars the game suddenly becomes a lot more frustrating.
Just take a look out on the internet, expectations are what is souring our world big time. We expect the newest Pokémon to look like Breath of the Wild and when it’s not it sucks! A great day could be anything! Sometimes all it needs is a great piece of chocolat another day I win a unicorn at the fair. So as long as I have HP left that’s all I ask of a day.

Have you thought about doing a YouTube or A podcast and who would you guest be?

I don’t voice very well, I twitch a lot so a wired headset is trouble, I don’t have a strong voice either so it’s really taxing to speak long so a podcast is out. Even when I DM I am fairly soft spoken, which works in real life but not really for recording. YouTube I tried to do with a friend with me being a writer and editor and they being my voice talent but that was a mess. Maybe in the further future I will try again.. but well it’s really hard to do my style without getting a COPPA-Law issue..cause you know I am all about pink and unicorns!While I am not a blog for kids, or would be a YouTube for kids with my style.. I think it’s really easy to get flagged!
If I can’t do it the way I want it I am not going to do it. As for a guest all of you would be welcome of course. To me your are as important as voice actors or animators or YouTubers. We are all just people trying to keep that hobby alive and maybe earn a buck or two with it if possible at all. Though I would squee if I can get Matthew Mercer on my show.. or Laura Bailey or Sam Riegel. Basically anyone of the Critical Role cast.. I am going to answer this for my year of blogging and not for 2020 because I feel you mean my year of blogging. I’d choose Metamorphosis as word. Not only does it resonate with the Sentai culture I rediscovered this year, it also describes my blogging journey very well. From a small blog with two visitors to one where I get like a solid 100 views per day. I also changed from A wanna be YouTuber who settled for a blog to someone who rediscovered her passion for blogging and who now is genuinely having fun with what she does. I changed from writing for an audience I thought that was out there.. to writing for an audience I think I had to writing for me. Like from caterpillar to pupa to butterfly. From fleeing from reality I moved onto making this blog a part of my reality. From escape to healing. It had multiple incarnations to reflect that and now after on year I am quite content with what it has become! Like as if it has grown up! Yay! This was such a good final question! Thanks Celestial!

Alliteration is key! While this blog originally started out as Pinkie’s Pokemon I needed something new that also had a P in it’s name that oozed positivity. As I really wanted my blog to be a haven where everyone can come and relax! Apparently another blogger who was named Pinky also known as Pink-Chan and not Pinkie (we are not the same person) had a website named Pinky’s Palace and I actually started a blog once named Pinkie’s Palace.. but I forgot the login for that! So I could not delete that and use my unicorn princess theme I used for that one. So Pinkie’s Paradise it became! The Multifaceted Ocelot Coconut helped me brainstorm. A holiday is a place where you can relax no matter where you come from or what you do .. so it worked!
That being said , yes the custom images do take a fair bit of my time but since I am sick at home, unable to work I got enough time on my hands to manage this. I have a lot of fun making these images. Plenty Images I make small tweaks too people don’t see or references only a single person but hey most of the time I think they are pretty neat for someone who cuts everything out with the mouse on her couch or a touchpad! I would love to work neater but I lack the set up to be accurate enough. I might not be the strongest writer in this place but this way I feel I can really put my own stamp and branding on a post regardless. So there is that.

Do you have a 2020 Blog Goal?

I originally aimed to have 300 followers by the end of the year, I felt like 300 followers in two years would be great. I already did that. I wanted to reach 300 posts at least (like write every other day back from when 2020 started) and I am like 9 posts or so away from that, so unless my hand gets chopped off and I have to learn how to work with a prosthetic that will be done by next week. There is one goal that I want to reach and that is an average like rate of around 20 posts. Lots of people who follow me are marketing blogs so with the 20 likes I could measure like a “loyalty” thing.. but honestly I am close to that either so wether i am making it or not I am actually already quite satisfied with where I have come.
I mostly just want to have fun with my blog, I could readjust my blog goals but I think I would rather watch and see how much I move past my expectations.. that feels more rewarding than maybe scaling my desired number of followers up to 500! I won now! Why would I risk losing. I might want to do a collab this year, but I am shy to ask people..but one might be in the works even just need to work out some ideas. I would love to find a co-writer at one point.. just for a sense of community but that is actually more a 2021 goal to be fair. So no real goals anymore, wishes sure.. dreams always but I had my goals! So I will take the W , and just leave it at that.

Well maybe not a Ghost pepper or a California Reaper but anything up until 100,000 Scoville I’d eat without a bet or a dare. For a drink or two I’d move up to 325.000 Scoville (A Madame Jeanette.. which I love with Peanut Butter) I’d be willing to go up to about a Chocolate Habanero which looks delicious and measures up to about 577,000 scoville. I bet that will speed up my metabolism real nicely and ruin my appetite! But I’d need a fair bet to be convinced into doing that!

What is Your Favourite Food?

Probably Sushi, specifically I am super addicted to Spicy Tuna Maki and Salmon or Tuna Rainbow Rolls. In fairness there are foods I liked better like some food I had in a two star restaurant. Like lacquered eel with sea bass marinated with a Yanthé (which is a local Yoghurt culture) creme asian herbs apple, chives, soy and some other ingredients, I had Foie Gras and Caviar.. which are all really nice but exclusive! My favourite food is something I should be able to indulge in whenever I want and for my Spicy Tuna Maki I just need to cross my street.

What’s one thing you’d like to do to branch out further in the future?

I would love to get some people on my team for example. Like I am all over the place in terms of content but I would love to work with a guy or a gal who’d make additional content for the blog.. for example one who writes about games, one about movies etc. I’d assign them all all a handle based on a colour like me.. so like Violetta, Noir, Weiss, Verde, Azura, Crimson.. stuff like that. The more the merrier! As my health is is right now I can not voice.. which really hampers my options a bit in anything that is non-written content. So my expansion would be more in the community direction.
If I had some “Paradise Staff” I’d maybe open a Discord, where people can play Pokémon Showdown against the staff or heck Mario Party for all I care.. or Cards Against Humanity, though I fell out of love with that one, I prefer game Use Your Words nowadays it can be a much cleaner and whittier kind of fun..Scribbleio is fun as well.. with custom words of course. You know.. something more in the togetherness term of things.. but far future stuff for now! I’d also like to do stuff like Jeopardy but again.. I’d need a team and for that I need to grow.. so we are probably talking years here!

While the universe is a vast place, I think I’d be bored out of my mind if I’d go to the planet Laligurans (yes that is an actual planet name) I’d get pretty lonely if I traveled to Cruinlagh (also an actual planet) so if there was any place I could go, I’d go to the Pokémon Café in Tokyo to enjoy a Mew’s Fluffy Marshmallow Drink or a Gengar’s Berry drink as well as indulge in the food! I mean I could clearly go anywhere in the galaxy so clearly I have the cash! So Tokyo would be unsafe and I’d try every dish in the Pokémon café just so I could order every type of pokémon dishware! I’d probably be very happy settling in there as well. I feel I could really crawl out of my shell there and just go on a Harajuku tour and make friends! Obviously I’d visit the pokémon center as well . I can squeeze in some Akihabara and .. since traveling to these planets would take a LOOONG time I bet there is time to go to the Tokyo Kawaii Monster Café and Sanrio Puroland as well.
Onsens and Izakaya would also be visited. Probably a few suitcase vendors to to carry all the figurines I would buy. A shinto temple, the pokémon café again, Tokyo Disneyland, Pokémon Café again… that red eiffel tower thing.. of course after climbing I need lunch… I’d want to visit that big gundam and the Hibiki (whiskey) distillery for good measure.

Pinkie Answered I really love the community I have found and people to interact with! However I was not prepared on how finite it is! People vanish, contacts get lost and I had a bit of trouble knowing what to expect. It took me a while but I have now found my place I think.. I love making contacts to this day! I am beginning to know a few of you and beginning to chat more and more with people as well! It’s not fully where I want it yet but it is super close to being my favourite thing still! There is one thing that I actually enjoyed more than you guys! I know that must mean I really love it right?
That thing honestly is my life. When I started blogging friends were moving away, dad was ignoring me because his new girlfriend wants him to be with his new family not with his old, I wasn’t feeling too physically or mentally healthy (still that is a thing but hey I improved). I needed people around me and my life was being led. Now I lead my life! My blogging allows me to explore movies , anime and games I would have not otherwise..because I felt eager to experience stuff because I loved writing about it so much! My hobby boosting other hobbies. I felt burned out on games and anime before and blogging has given me a new outtake! I can talk about them with people again. My real life friends really have different tastes than me and some that did not move away really do not like talking a lot. My taste is a bit brighter than theirs so I never could really talk about what I liked and only discuss things like Goblin Slayer.. which I don’t like. Blogging put the joy of experiencing content back!

Hmm I am more of a dog person but I will try. I’d probably be one of those really awkward cats that like sticks to furniture and gets stuck on there. You know like one of those sticky toy people you throw at your window and who then slowly fall down. That would be me as a cat basically. I’d not be a very hunty cat.. though I wouldn’t like to be petted all the time either.. gotta have me time. I’d probably be a picky eater as well. Like dry mix is not something that would agree with me very well. Like as a human I have trouble with bread. Despite needing some alone time I still would want some affection as well and I’d come and sit with you when you watch movies. I’d totally leave you alone when your behind your pc though I know how annoying that is! I’d also hog my toys! My playtime not yours.. you do not take my mouse away from me!

Who is Your Husbando or Waifu?

Ciel Phantomhive would be my Husbando. He would not need affection, I just get some money , he gets people off his back for not being married and I will not blow all his cash like an insane shopaholic. I’d offer conversation and companionship when he needs it and I would be totally okay with him crossdressing all the time. A marriage of convenience since I am not into guys!
My search for a Waifu ended in failure, I had a few candidates and realistically Sayaka Saeki from Bloom into you would be an ideal partner for me to settle down with, I like how she is strong and convinced in her ways and I respect her a lot more than the two main characters. She is super pretty as well . There is a tranquility in her eyes I find mesmerizing. Like she looks like the type who can except my demi-sexual nature and would be content with just curling up to me with her book! While I shout at my Switch playing Mario Party or Shiny hunting in Pokémon…perhaps not Mario Party I would definitely hit Sayaka in the head..she’d take it though.. he is a bit used to getting flung around.. i’d feel bad though! Perhaps I should just download Yu-Gi-Oh on there!

Do you ever get hit with writer’s block? If so, how do you get through it?
Pinkie Answered:
Not really no! I do on occasion get stuck on a topic but my blog has 6 main pillars: Movies, Games, My Life, Pokémon, Fiction and Anime. If I hit a bump with one of them I just move on to the next topic usually in the afternoon and in the evening I either watch/play or do something about the topic I had failed earlier so I get inspired to write for it the next day. I try to stay away from high flying content nowadays so no more Alchemy Allegories in Pokémon or an Analogy of the line-work in this anime and what it could mean. I write about my experience sometimes there is some depth in it.. sometimes it’s trashing a bad movie to the ground.
Fiction is the saving grace for me.. there is always something I can write about that, always some random fantasy. Pokémon Top 5’s are also super easy to do…for about 6 more weeks.. then we will begin need to do something new.. though I might even take people through the entire National Dex one evolution line at a time if I have too. I do not really pose standards to my work anymore, I am a hobby blogger I write because I like writing. Like a kid playing a piano I just wanna have fun. If others have fun with that post as well.. great..if not..I had fun still. When a work doesn’t have to be good the pressure is a lot lower and the chance of blocking is much much lower. I do believe that true art is created on accident and not on purpose. It might never happen.. but doesn’t matter .. had fun!.

Describe your Unicorns Special Magic

Well okay so I have 8 unicorns, divided in four pairings. My oldest unicorns are Yuni and Cohn. Yuni is a pink somewhat proud unicorn with a bit of arrogance she is very smart. She has the power to give me other thoughts and give me advice. Cohn is a derpy green male unicorn.. whose stupidity and silliness always make me smile. It has the power to take bad memories away if I hug it hard!
Then we have my tiny triplets. Tiny , Hoaws and Fwen. They are my dream triplets.. their white skin is shared across the three. But then we have a pink hoof and maned one.. that would be Fwen.. the same but in purple is Hoaws and Tiny has blue details. Tiny helps me keeps bad dreams away, Hoaws helps me fall asleep soundly and Fwen is good for having pleasant dreams.
Then we have the luck duo. Wan-Hoan and Monospyke Wan is a soft pink with a rainbow main and Spyke is a very vaguely purple but almost white with the same rainbow motive and purple elements. Wan takes away bad luck and Spyke gives good luck! I mostly use Wan since I am not that active but I love them both!
The Final one is Scabbers the Budget Unicorn.. I got him for like 90 cents! He has scales and can change colour from purple to silver.. his magic power is that he is super cool to hug even in warm weather!

A Goody Goody Goody! It’s my Blogs Anniversary week! And well since I am basically an avatar of my actual self I guess in a way It’s Pinkie’s Birthday-Week as well! So Island Guests this week will be special and filled with celebration activities. Why a week?! Well because I am a bit crazy and I have LOTS of things in store for you! This week of fun our regular schedule of activities will be on hold for a week! Which is nice because at my party I am probably going to end up drunk or hungover! I might be one but in Paradise age doesn’t matter at the bar! Today we shall start with a look back at my journey so far.
On the day this post goes live it is exactly one year ago that I started working on my blog! I started making my assets, drafting up articles , making folders and cute-ing up my laptop! As well as neatly make folders for just about everything! Something that I actually managed to keep up to this day. The blog actually came based on a failed desire to YouTube. My own voice isn’t good enough to put under a video and a friend who wanted to voice act it for me backed down from the project in the very last moment. Mainly because we also lacked a good place to record and it was sooo clunky! So while listening to remade version of Pokémon Red and Blue’s Route 24 Theme I began writing my first blog post. It was titled My Wonderful world of Pokémon. In it I created a way to ambitious blog plan , one that I would be unable to keep up with for very long. Blogging daily about Pokémon would proof harder than it seemed at the time. The first post went live on the 16th of July 2019 and to this day scored 4 likes and 5 comments! Two of those comments were me! Of the five posts only two ever got likes or comments. Which was fine back then because I was completely obsessed with views and this was the first blog I ever had that actually got views! It felt like an awesome welcome!
My first hilarious fail that resulted from a delusion I had made myself was my post about The Most Hated Pokémon Simisear! I talked about it and how I actually liked it and how it deserved some love! I asked people to share the love for the little simian creature that usually got treated poorly but it did not happen! Pinkie had created some false expectations for herself and now she got her little pokémon friend hurt because of it! It got 1 like so at least it wasn’t all for nothing.. but that is when I realised you had to really work a bit in this community to get anywhere! Somehow before that I believed people would flock to this kind of stuff just by sharing the opinion! It was the post that made me reach out more..because Simisear and the likes deserved love!
Up until the 29th of July there was not a lot of progress but when I wrote a piece about Mewtwo The Pokémon that can Defeat God. My first deeper peace in the Pokémon World that was catered a bit more to the casual knowledgeable fans. It got six likes an absolute record at the time..but I also met Ospreyshire! I reacted to his post on the Lion King Live action movie as back then I was already trying to find movie bloggers and Ospreyshire I found through that. Before that it was Mallow and Anime Fan Fiction who interacted with me.. so now I was beginning for form some semblance of a group of people to interact with.
Not that long after I would meet people like Raistlin and Karandi with Raist being such a great and friendly supporter of the blog! He really helped me push through hard times! Around the beginning of august we can see my visual style beginning to shift to the tones I have now.. of course back then I could still fairly easily change a block background colour and select make pink streaks.. which now is a much more finicky process. The pun based review system came into play but back then it was with Eevolutions! This happened around august fifth when I switched to a WordPress paid plan so I felt I had to step up my game.
I made a post called Norse Mythology in Pokémon which back then I was really proud of. I think that was the second and maybe last or second to last post I participated in the Jon’s Creator Showcase with. To this day I really do like that post.. but it was the post that made me hear all my other posts cries just because in that one I tried to be a bit more intellectual. It got a lukewarm reception on twitter as well and people massively ignored it when it finally went up in the showcase and that’s when I decided making my other posts cry by favouring another post above them would not be something I’d do to often anymore! This is my own fault for imagining my posts crying of course and I had fun making it, I just gave myself false expectations again! I had some nice talks about it still and I made myself learn something! So it’s all good! Just not fully what I expected!
On August 18th I participated in my first ever blog award. I was nominated by Amelia and the post got 16! Likes and it had quite a few comments as well. Here I began interacting more with Megan as well! It made my blog grow very hard and while I was super happy it also made me realise something even more.. all the posts that got a lot of likes either had to do with a very basic level of pokémon, something beyond pokémon or stuff like this..The first seeds of Paradise had been planted! I loved hearing all you guys and seeing you like my post!
On 2 September I wrote a post about the god of Pokémon Arceus and how it is based in the ancient mythos of alchemy! A very deep post.. and it preformed rather poorly! Maybe I entered it in the JCS still.. but I think I was beginning to get dissatisfied with my blog and what I wanted to get out of it. I really love the post .. I just realised I did not have the platform for it all that well. Like people were interested.. but I did not get the energy I wanted from it.. I wanted more..community. I got some excellent replies and I adored them but some of these posts took me 12 hours a day to make! I knew there was more to get than what I was getting. I loved so much more!
For the next two months I dabbled a bit with content trying all sorts of things. Including making a Trainer Profiles for anime character.. which all performed rather well. Back then my average post counted in at about 9-10 ish likes. When my next blog tag award and first Owls post not about Pokémon got almost double that I knew it was time to expand! I had been struggling to keep up and sometimes the amount of research that went into a single Pokémon Post was insane. To a point where I became to resent the franchise a bit and that I did not want! So I took a step back and opened my world.
After holding several polls, too which a surprising number of people told me to quit blogging entirely, lots of thinking and quite few Photoshop hours I decided to rebrand and branche out to Geekdom in general! It was a lot easier on the mind, my life was not going as well as I would have liked and I just needed to have less stress from blogging and topic selections. On November Third I bought my site became Pinkie’s Paradise.. though still under the old web handle. Views were immediately up, interaction skyrocketed and this led to my “bantering” phase with Irina. Where she would frequently comment on my blog. I had previously done so on hers but now that my side became more accessible that bounced back as well. I got more contact with Joy of GeekGirlJoy as well and Lita to. I began enjoying blogging more, which reflected in my more whimsical and mostly lighthearted picking of topics.I also went a lot more personal, for example starting with five geeky things you did not know about me. I got a LOT of tags in that time but in just two weeks after restarting, I had a complete mental breakdown.
The trigger was my father saying he did not have time to celebrate my birthday. At all.. that he would see me at an office christmas party of my uncles company… which he then also bailed on. I haven’t seen him for Christmas or my Birthday I felt abandoned. All around me things crumbled. One friend fed of my negativity as he had a big case of hero syndrome and wanted to cheer me up by taking me to do fun things.. which drained all my money away another moved away, my bestie Bean threatened to move away as house hunting could take them far away. From the 19th of November until the 11th of December .. I vanished. Also in a personal sense.. I just stopped functioning.
Crawling out from my lowest I had been that year, my return to blogging was amazing. My I’m Back Post announcing my return had racked up 32 likes! My highest number ever! It also really marked the beginning of my pleasant interactions with Fred. Blogging become more fun and healing to me..it slightly became more and more about me. Which resulted in some crazy fun experiments such as my New Years Party Blogs Where I’d invite Five Bloggers, Five Anime Characters, Five Game Characters and Five Movie Characters. I had more and more fun as I wrote and felt more free to write whatever I wanted.
I still had a bit of trouble adapting to the internet culture feeling like I had to fit myself in. I wanted to be the voice of happiness and cheer in a very dark and grim world. So on February first I posted the Super Happy Love Award. A post that is all about positivity on the internet. While I do still try to adhere to that message.. I have since adjusted a bit.. I want to be positive but I also want to be sincere! So while I do look for positives when I see non I will say so as well. More and more I learned to adjust.. to not care as much as what others think.. before it was eating me alive. That demon is still on my shoulder and it’s always whispering. I can ignore it a bit but it constantly tells me people hate me and just act nice because it’s the right thing to do!
I am/was scared to death that Irina and Scott actually hate me or that people in OWLS actually want me gone. Something as simple as my comment being the one that does not get a reply or a bit of a short answer when I ask a question can still make me lose my marbles a bit.. but nowadays I have it more under control… most of the time. Hey at least I never claimed sanity! But Like I said that little demon on my shoulder is always there, to make something meaningless into a maze of panicky questions and ponderings.
These struggles I have can really be seen in my blog posts in the period COVID-19 first reared its ugly head and we had to stay at home. Am I a Bad Person or Pinkie in Love the Legitimacy of Online Bonds are good examples that highlight my fear of that time. Having weak lungs, the virus was quite scary to me and I desperately struggled to fight it off. .. withdrawing myself fairly extremely and ending up with a very fragile mind..which just fed the demon! In a way the bond with you were all I had.. along some other online friends, so each time that devil whispered I was actually hated and just accepted for the sake of being nice.. my world broke a bit. In this time Foovay was here for me a lot as well as Fred as my anxiety pushed me away from the Ani-community core a bit. I fled Jon’s chat because I could not deal with some people being very condemning of other people live styles in that chat or on twitter. (Not the main man himself though) I did not blog for OWLS for a while because I felt unworthy and a few topics were against my personal beliefs. It was a lot of blogging from fear. The crush I developed on a blogger was in my way as well making me more uncertain. A pain that would last until the 6th of May..when I made the I Dislike that I Like Likes post, in which told about me being fed up with all the measuring.
The day I managed to finally move past likes is also the day.I managed to move past that crush too. It marked the day that I basically rebooted as a Blogger opposed to as a blog. This blog is my journey and you are just here to join me on the right if you so choose! That is the mentality I needed to have. I am too quirky to go pro! Those delusions of Grandeur came from the YouTube dream. I noticed my crush person was the same.. just a fantasy! I never had a crush on the actual person..just on something I formed in my head. I mean I knew it was from the get go.. but it was like a soap bubble , mesmerising enough to keep me looking. After awakening I began to focus on friendships and some have really picked up since then. I began to feel more validated. I began to see that my community I wanted was not something I could gain by running behind the pack. People would know I was not sincere a bit fake or at least trying to hard. I wanted to do the stuff I like to do again regardless of the number game. So I brought back my stories more and more! So What If Raditz Turned Good became my new What If Story even if that type of content performed horribly before. I wanted to make it.. that is all that matters.
It still does preform but I have fun with it.. and that was my new onlook. Pinkie’s Saturday Anime Adventure I could really easily split up in five episode reviews I post each day, would probably help my views out a lot.. but I like doing it like this it’s fun. That became more important. The first time I began blogging I immediately stumbled on a life time friend picking writing up again I expected a repeat of that golden moment that sense of community I got before, it wasn’t realistic! I love all of you guys that support this blog, but I put up false expectations and as soon as those were challenged my demon was there. I really had fun before! I truly did but whenever someone would not like a post f they normally do.. or I saw a log in from their country I got scared it was the end because my community would walk away now. As I am now.. I would keep writing even if I lost all of you! That might sound cruel but it’s kinda relaxing. You should follow me because you want to and I am now more capable to give that space. Because I am taking that space for myself as well in the form of making stuff I want to make!
Even though I kinda got a new blog crush..ish thing as I found the real me it now all felt differently. Previously I HAD to be liked by the important people in the community. Having Lita, Jon, Scott or Irina or the likes frown upon me, was like god disapproving of my actions. It felt the worst! Then I realised.. I don’t even believe in god. These people are amazing indeed and if they like me that is nice.. but if they don’t that doesn’t take away from the person I am! Maybe one day I can be to a young blogger what they are to me, they are not obligated to acknowledge me! Stop thinking like that Pinkie. At this point I think you can also see a shift in the tone of my blog.. though I am not as afraid to be negative about stuff I do not like anymore.. more fun returns to my blog as well. Games I really wanted to play like, replaying Ducktales or playing games like Ninja Baseball Bat Man become more my thing. Rather than searching a game I thought you’d like to see me play I began playing what i wanted. My geeky lifestyle posts shift in tones to things like The Power of Me: My Voice on MY Blog or My personal rules for Blogging. I am no longer questioning who I am.. I know and I announce it! Which is a great change! I also had some very great people behind me! Who I now appreciate more than ever!
It took me almost a year for my blogging ambitions to completely die. Until May I always blogged to achieve something and maybe have fun with it as I do so. Now the ambition has been killed and it’s more like, I am blogging as a hobby and as a way to vent and experience things and if it gets me anywhere and allows me to make new friends .. that is a great boon. It allowed me to form more genuine bonds and also plenty of fun but more casual bonds. Blogging is now something I often would play a game or even sometimes as to watch an anime. I just like getting creative or getting my opinion out there.
Doing all video game movies is a blast so far even though I am seeing some seriously bad movies.. it’s just the experience, I get to share it with my discord pals, I get to share it with you and that despite my negative grades makes it an effort well worth it. Blogging is like a soy sauce that can even make bad sushi taste okay because it just makes your experience that much richer. I love to step out of my comfort zone and just write whatever is in my mind. Without it I would not have created Tamago Tomodachi..which to date is my best liked piece of original writing. That doesn’t mean however that What Bad Luck! I got Reborn Into a New Life and Now I Am a Side Character is any less fun for me to write either! I love hiding OWLS members in those stories or other bloggers, or heck even elements from my real life. I like how I have become as a blogger, I am my own thing! I am Pinkie and this is my paradise!
Despite the tone this blog may have I had an amazing year! I grew so much and learned a lot along the way. I just know that if my journey continues like it did now I will be a hell of a lot stronger than I was before! Everyone I would like to sincerely thank you for sticking by with me for a year! You really helped me become much happier than I was one year ago! Big shout outs to Mallow and Fanfiction Anime World who have been with me since the beginning! You guys are amazing!Stay tuned for some special events to come this week!
Today I completed my second show in this format and had another crazy strong line up on episodes! I did SO not expect things to go the way they did this week. Amazing! I even finished BNA on a fairly positive note! So I was pleasantly surprised! Yet both Flip Flappers and Samurai ended with a big cliffhanger! And Next week is my SKIP week! Due to my special week! What Bad Luck!
Our farewell to a show with troubled pacing and slightly pedantic world-building is one that is a perfect summary of this show..it was a good watch but it’s more akin to your kid going to the potty by himself for the 26th time good..than it is finding a way to colonise mars kinda good.
We pick the show up right after Michiru’s apparent demise.. which as it turns out was barely a flesh wound. Her blood holds some antibodies for the Nylvarsyl Syndrome because she is like special and adaptable and what not. This results into Shirou’s beast factor becoming stable again and everyone being fine! Meanwhile Allan puts his plan into motion to use his Eggman like drones to end these Beastman and turn them all into humans! Shirou and Michiru tell him about the other cure and he doesn’t care..because he isn’t on humanities side as it turns out. Allan is a godly beastman.. like a pure one with an immortal body! As he shoots big energy beams trough Shirou.. Michiru has to leave him there to defeat the thrones. Aided by the Major, Flip, the Police and some others the fight against Allan’s purification army is on. Nazuna is there too and runs away from her former Retainer Boris saying she doesn’t want to date him. Eventually Nazuna and Michiru find out that Ginrou’s howl passifies the beastmen makes them howl with him and they move back to the Live event to play his cry to the city where Ginrou and Allan’s Cerberus form have their final face off! Ginrou/Shirou learns from Michiru and shows compassion to Allan and in the end everything is right as rain. Michiru and Nazuna decide to stay the way they are to form a bridge between humans and beastman.. the End
The show does a fairly decent job on wrapping up the story at least if we do not take it’s earlier flaws into account ..as this is an episode review! The series review I will do after next week. We get an ending that is both definitive and open at the same time and it actually has some nice imagery. Like when Shirou Spared Allan.. he trusted on his heart rather than his instinct..show humans and beastman might be a bit closer than we think, but done from the beastman perspective. They allow themselves to be shunned by simply giving into all their impulses or primary acting..perhaps that is not the way. I am glad they addressed this because I do understand that some people are different and we should try to make the world a welcoming place for everyone.. but that doesn’t mean we should excuse every whim. In the world of Beastman this issue was waaaaay larger because some of their behaviour was just never acceptable, like killing each other in recreational sports, rule of the strongest. It was a big weak point in the story to me and this somewhat countered it! My favourite scene was the water purifier kid whose name I still do not know.. saving Death Rube/Nazuna still worshiping her has a god. When she tells him she’s not a god he says “You fed me fresh bread with a super delicious crust.. if you provide food to the poor you are like god to them’ (More or less) She helped them.. and they worship her for it! I really liked that sign of gratitude. Having Michiru also feels great and making her a bridge between races is a great way to end the show… were it not for a few hiccups.
The biggest issue I have is how inconsistent the plot can be! Allan’s drones only attack rampaging beastman.. but how is he going to succeed then?! There will be a few beastman left. The Machine only attacks rampaging beastman.. yet still attacks the non feral police. Flip who is firing rocket launchers I can understand might be deemed rampaging.. but still the way it is set up it feels a bit plothole like. Allan being a beastman with no beastman scent also felt rather forced. It’s because he is a pure beastman and he wants to end hybrid beastmen.. so he rather changes them to human?! That feels a bit iffy to me. It wasn’t needed. You could have just written that the morphing thing what he gave to Michiru was perfected and he found a way to amplify humans without having them turn into beasts. I guess Shirou learned to forgive saying he already is a hybrid but that feels a bit pedantic again. “We are closer to humans than I thought .. let’s begin to accept them’ The final battle could also have been against technology or whatever.. but a beam firing cerberus fox/wolf with Ginrou turning into a jet wolf firing a Kamehameha.. felt poorly set up.. though it looked amazing! I just feel that power-hike was unearned and not needed. I was engaged throughout the episode but if you think about things they do fall apart a bit. Clearly style was favoured over substance for this episode and to an extend the show needed that to let go of some broken promises it also is a reminder of what the show could have been.
I enjoyed myself, with this episode but also this series as a whole. This episode had a few pacing issues, logic problems and kinda took that finger pointy no no racism analogy stance ..but then doesn’t flavour it very well. It had the exact same issues as I had with the entire show so far..but it also left me with the same overall experience as the show did. Positive and quite amused. This isn’t a high-flyer of an episode but it was 20 minutes spend quite well still.
What ..just happened?! Was that Real? Surely it must be some sort of fever dream right? If not.. omg that is amazing.. if it is OMG this amazing! What the actual heck!
This episode shows Samurai Flamenco and the Flamenco Girls having an effect on the city. Crime is at an all time low and their patrols are becoming boring. This causes both Masayoshi and Mari to have their own mental breakdown. In a search for answers Masayoshi visits his grandfather’s grave and later discovers his parents were murdered.. the greatest hero background he could wish for.. but he doesn’t seem to care.. the case went cold.. he never knew any better so now he begins to wonder if he is actually a hero and Goto convinces him .. he is a freak fighting for justice.. he likes freaks more than heroes. In a PR stunt Samurai Flamenco gets asked to help raid a drug lab, which Goto only accepts after seeing Masayoshi at earlier low. While there he serves a ceremonial position.. when suddenly one guy transforms into a creature called Guillotine Gorilla, which decapitates three policeman and tosses them out of the window! Samurai Flamenco and Goto team up using the drugs to blind the Gorilla and then toss him out f the window! Is this real?! That came out of nowhere?! Oh and right an evil overlord speaks through them from the sky.
I assume this is Masayoshi getting really drunk from tequila at the beginning of the episode or maybe he breathed in some drugs, but wow.. having actual sentai monsters that explode could be awesome.. having Masayoshi go completely delusional so that he imagines these to to some mental breakdown could be just as amazing. After all I really loved Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger. Since this show was recommended to me based on my review of season 1 I suspect that is the case here. Also since Goto in their fight with Guillotine Gorilla called him Flamenco! I am not sure a real Goto would say that.. but then again who knows. My favourite scene was the monster exploding after it was defeated.. It just fell out of a cop car.. got up and exploded! Just like in the real deal! I am really confused right now but I really do love that I am so confused. This came so out of the blue and is such a tonal shift. Since the opening is also vague and shows him as an actual Sentai I have really zero clue! Other than those hunches I just mentioned. Then again I also have clues for this not being true such as his Samurai’s secret weapons not working at all. I also really start to enjoy the Morita Moe as a character being in love with Mari, she just reminds me of me somehow.. just more into kisses and such. The build up with this coming out of left field was something truly amazing as well. I can’t even begin to describe how much I loved this episode.
My least favourite moment is Mari eating flowers because she is so bored and disillusioned by her real life wanting to go on tour. It feels weird that that someone who owns a Hummer and can drive anywhere she wants can not find a single way to fight crime. Her petty behaviour is becoming increasingly annoying to me. In order ot do what she did I feel you must have a strong character that truly believes in their ideals like Masayoshi even if that value she chases is more superficial.. but with every minor setback she just gets so dejected. I don’t think it fits. Another weird moment is Goto coming over to Masayoshi where he shares drinks with that Stationary Guy that give Masayoshi his gadgets.. apparently he had been sitting there for a while and Goto only now asks who he is. I get why you not introduce yourself to anyone but at a party of 4 with a single new guy..while discussing your friends super hero activities I’d think you would introduce yourself. It’s not that bad but it is a a writing flaw I think. For the rest I am to scared to say if there are flaws I can only tell after the next episode.
I loved this experience, while it might not consistently be the best episode as it starts out really slow that acceleration in the end truly made this into something so amazing. Regardless if this turns out to be real or not, this episode will probably go into the books as one of my favourite episodes… unless they really mess up this landing.. but for that I have to wait two weeks.
I love how this show handles time! They really take advantage of the fact that Rimuru is a slime and use it to propel the world making this series feel so alive. They did a lot of clever things again with this episodes and a lot of things I did not see coming.
We see Rimuru a few days after his quest to find artisans ended. The Goblins have adopted other Goblin clans and after exerting all it’s magic Rimuru goes to sleep for days on end once more. Once he comes too he finds Rigurd to have advanced even higher as he is now a Goblin King and the town now starting to look like an actual village. Four human adventurers stumble onto his demain , including the three adventures he saw once Rimuru’s journey started and Shizu.. another Isekaid girl.. but where Rimuru was reborn she was summoned, lacking the ability to defy those who summoned her. We see a lot of background on the three adventurers and their somewhat cruel guild master. Rimuru is a good egg and he feeds them and he bonds with Shizu a bit who turns out has been here since World War II or something. We also find out she is possessed by an Efreet! Plus there is some amazing subtext here I think… or a mistake.
The best part of this episode was that subtext line. Shizu laughed when Rimuru referenced a line, from Dragon’s Quest… but Shizu said she is from World War II, in fact we have seen that this is true. So Shizu CAN NOT know about Dragon Quest.. but a friend told her! That means there is another Isekaid character there! Which also explains why she was so aware of Rimuru’s situation. The organisation that summoned her seems quite evil, so perhaps they have summoned another character.. but she also seems familiar with being reborn so perhaps not! There is is so much there to discover! I am so curious to find out. Like I said in the intro I also really like how the time flows in this show.. there are bigger time gaps so there is bigger advancements made. Since Rimuru’s followers build their own little village I really like this pacing. By putting RImuru out of commision it also does not feel forced and keeping his questions legit! I also really like the snarky tone he can have.. like when he is proud that Gobta learned and summon spell and says.. “Gobta rising quite a few points in the esteem of Rimuru” and then as he watches the lesson that is mostly Gobta saying you have to go “nghnghngh” he adds.. his teaching skills made him a few point lower in the esteem of Rimuru” I love that type of humor! It also had a few nice action moments.
On the negative side I don’t have a lot to say this week. I personally do still not care for all the girls holding the slime against their breast and him going all crazy over it but I can see why it’s in there! I still think not having those hormones should make that less appealing..but hey creative differences! What I am unsure about is the human trio. I think her name is Ellen.., or Eren not fully sure my sub is a bit off, Gibdo or Gido and Kabaru. They feel a bit odd to me. I am not sure on what to think on them. I don’t think their appeal is to great and when Shizu kicked some group of giant’ ants their butts. I feel at least they could have supported her a bit, they are incapable sure .. but before they did not seem cowardly. Now they are just sorta there.. like Gobta was in the previous two episodes. I am not sure why the show feels the need to have these sort of characters around but it uses this a lot. The story so far could have been completely told without them , but like how Gobta gained an ability I am sure this will be good for something at least! Just right now.. they were a bit of dead air and I would have rather learned more about Shizu or see live in the Goblin village a bit more.
This is a set up episode done right more things are to come and this needed to be told! There are some amazing implications that can be drawn from the dialogue that went on and I think the show is clever enough for this not to be a mistake a lot happend but it feels like a few thing did not matter that much.. so this episode is just good! Had a great time but on its own not THAT special but this doesn’t show always needs to be! For what this is, this is consistently a delightful watch.
Could it be possible that I will not love this as much as I think I would? I found myself asking this in the first act of this episode. Then I was quickly shushed and had to spend the next 5 minutes trying to get my heart shaped sparkly eyes to go back to normal again.
Cocona tries to pick up her school live again after her first adventure into Pure Illusion. Papika however thinks she found her partner and keeps trying to coax Cocona into a new adventure to find more of the wishing shards. Magical items they can bring back from Pure Illusion. When Corona’s pet Uexkull.. a green somewhat shiftable bunny comes with her to to school and flees from Papika Cocona’s trouble grow exponentially larger and she tells Papika to get lost she doesn’t belong in this school. So Papika enrolls and keeps stalking her. When Uexkull gets sucked up by a giant Vacuum hidden underneath a statue in the park Cocona and Papika get sucked into Deep Fantasy once more and they split up. Papika goes to get the wishing shard while Cocona pursues the search of her bunny. When Papika accidentally activates a death trap that nearly burns Cocona and Uexkull by dropping them in lava she unlocks magical powers much like her not so willing partner did in the previous episode. After saving everyone both of them return to the real world and Cocona decides to join the organisation called Flip Flap and help Papika with these fun adventures. Dr Salt a mysterious man with a fancy hairdo and a bit villainous shades tells them to see a certain person..and after getting locked up in what almost seems like one of those diver depressuring chambers..they seem to move into Deep Fantasy again ending the episode.
I LOVED the visuals of this deep fantasy setting! The colours were amazing! The Alice in Wonderland similarities were plenty yet it was still fresh at the same time. I loved how Uexkull was almost a Jojo character in deep fantasy and protector. I love how this world building has no rhyme or reason, yet due to visual clues it has some machinations. There world is incredibly zany but it does work. That on-switch that Papika hits that puts Cocona out of trouble was there all along.. it makes no sense that it is there.. but it’s there long before it becomes a problem . The fact that the group ends up in a tunnel with a giant crushing metal object chasing them and a meat grinder in front.. comes out of nowhere but there is a logic to how the thing operates characters can use. Thus solutions and events are foreshadowed in a bizarre world as a result we get this fever dream sensation..but it is a few dream we can to an extend make sense of .we can still comprehend it. Both Cocona and Papika learn a lesson in this episode that brings them closer together. Papika learns to take responsibility for her actions and releases actions might have consequences while Cocona lets go of the idea of being always in control or having to be. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow! Of course the visuals…I can’t say enough in praise of.. this thing is my jam!
I disliked how cold Cocona was in the first part of the story, again I get where she is coming from but the whole will they/won’t they team up thing is a bit done to death and if you look at any cover art for this series.. which I am pretty sure you can’t escape from doing.. you will know exactly what the answer to that question is. I get her personality is uptight and I do get why she is annoyed at Papika it makes sense I just do not feel very invested in that part of the story because there is no tension.. of course they will go on more adventures.. their adventures is what the show will be about! Another thing I did not like.. well more in the sense that it confused me is the whole Bitey Bitey thing. Papika feels the need to bite in everything because she is a bunny now I guess and Cocona resists but I don’t really see where the bitey bitey comes from.. I mean why would she mind so much her bunny instinct tells her to bite something hard? Why would it? I don’t see any other bunny instinct triggering either so is it a thing or is it actually something deeper. Also why does the school have that vacuum cleaner? As much as I love the surreal world building in the Deep Fantasy I would like the real world to be at least a bit of a counterpart to it. If Japanese schools have subterranean trash cleaning vacuums please let me know!
I saw some minor flaws with this episode but nothing I could not overcome. The highs it send me trough blow the lows out ot the water completely. I love this show so far. I really do! I like it enough that it might get a very high ranking amongst the anime I have seen. So with that it gets it’s second highest score possible.. and is 2/2 for that!
Hikaru no Go has had a few rough set-up episodes before. It isn’t always as strong when it’s not centered around Go and while the matches are all hits.. set up , really swings a miss quite often for me! This set up episode however is great. It accomplishes so much.
We begin the episode with Haze high School, the one Hikaru goes to. TsuTsui, Mitani, Hikari and to lesser extent Akiri prepare to go to the Go Tournament. Well Akiri makes lunch and cookies and takes some more verbal abuse from Hikaru but hey she is there! We see a tension front between Tsutsui and Mitani because the former things that cheating in the games final phase is very low. Akiri will also only give him cookies if he stops cheating. Their story is mostly about convincing Mitani to participated and showing these tensions. The perspective then switches to Touya who finds out Hikaru is the third board.. oftenly the weakest player in Igo of a team. This means Touya wants to become third board as well.. a strategic thing he needs to face Hikaru or as Hikaru notices at the end of the episode.. it’s not him who is Touya here to play ..it is Sai. Posing an interesting Dilemma for Hikaru in the battles to come. Some dramatic stuff happens in between but it is all of no consequences. Touya defeats a fellow student, gets assigned first board… cries .. gets third board. Sees Hikaru at the tournament.
This episode once again is insanely strong at character building, Hikaru has his reasons to play but also reasons not to play, Tsutsui has his reasons to grow and we see Mitani develop a new negative trade. He can not handle being provoked or looked down upon. After hearing he was not good enough to face I think it’s Kaizo high school ? not sure.. those names don’t stick to me very well, he flips right around and wants to play in a tournament while earlier he would not. I foresee this giving trouble and I think they need this trouble. I see this end in two ways.. Hikaru’s highschool gets eliminated early or maybe even Touya’s by a surprise force or Hikaru loses to Touya using his own strength and the latter is upset that Hikaru did not play his normal game. I do not think Hikaru can beat Touya here .. nor do I think Touya can accept a win here. It would ever those ties or even a character. So I think what happens here sets up plenty of options. Maybe the school gets disqualified because Mitani cheats.. maybe Tsutsui gets distracted because he is watching Mitani to much , the show gives itself a lot of options and this is very clever. I also like how Kaizo/Akira’s School is depicted in much more grey shades than Hikaru’s .. it seems to depict their different mindset. Where Hikaru wants to experience things.. grow and come into bloom Touya is much more narrow minded.. focussed on a single goal his world is a lot gloomier Something that does seem directly reflected by their environment. The use of the main theme throughout this show when Akira talks to his father was very strong as wel showing his zeal is close to that of Sai’s. Strong stuff.
What I liked less in Touya’s duel with the now first board. It happens somewhere in the middle of the episode but it has zero consequence other than establish these two are miles apart and that Akira does indeed deserve first board. I would have loved this duel if it actually meant Akira had to play first board and that he did not get to play Hikaru but a good cry invalidated this math. There was little at stake here too. What do we establish here that hasn’t already been established. I am also not sure if I as a teacher would allow a student to join a club just to play a single opponent then quit the club.. a person who causes that student so much stress he completely breaks down at every single thought of said person. I think as a teacher I would rather protect my student from himself. He also has to protect the schools reputation or so he says so why would you pit your unbeatable player against possibly the one foe that can defeat him? What if he loses! So I do get why he made him first board.. I do not get why he relented. Aikra just joined this school so they haven’t bonded that much yet sure time passed but this favouring the boy is exactly what causes him to be “bullied” I think for a teacher that should weigh heavier than an obsession.. So again this show makes me question the gravity that is given to Go and honour. In a way I sometimes feel this story is written by a huge Go fan who gate-keeps that fandom by tying some super heay Go related emotions and honour to it. It just feels off.
Regardless of what that we got a pretty good episode on our hands here! I was engaged most of the time and I wasn’t sure if Akira would get his third board so the reveal felt quite shocking still. I honestly expected Akira to quit the team. I dont think we are ready for their next face won yet.. it’s top early. If Touya loses here I am not sure where they would do.. so I think they need an out.. lucky this show has written characters so well they have plenty! This episode really helped.
So that concludes another week! The upcoming week will be something special where we celebrate the Blog’s .. and Pinkie the Character’s Anniversary! With something nice on Thursday, the actual Birthday and on Sunday when we conclude the week! Other than that we shall mostly be exploring what this blog means to me and what this community means to me! On a personal description on this week for me! It started out with a low as toxic person in my life has been revealed to even more toxic as I thought they were. Devaluating me behind my back to make our mutual friends appreciate her more or talking bad about me just to have a conversation topic. It resulted in a major somatic stress induced stomach sickness that kept me very weak until Friday. Missed my tabletop-roleplays ..luckily since Friday more good things happend to me! I got closer to another friend, got invited to a party, and went out for drinks yesterday with a few friends. After the toxic beginning of the week I really needed this! Hello again my dear Island Guests and welcome to another post where I talk about the wonderful world of anime. Someone recently asked me what Manga I would like to see get adapted into an anime.. but I do not know, I don’t read manga nor do I think I should compare the two. It’s different forms of media and storytelling I do not know enough about adapting to know if my favourite Manga would be any good. So instead I will use this post to create my ideal anime!
Now first let’s determine who this show should be made for. Obviously the most logical pick for me would be to make it a Josei show. For those who do not know Josei here basically would mean PG-13 catered to females. It’s male counterpart being Seinen. They oppose Shounen and Shoujo genres who are made for younger boys and girls respectively. My ideal show definitely would be PG-13 but since as a geek I predominantly hang out with groups consisting out of guys, because that is a thing I would like it if they would like my favourite show as well. While I love sharing a show with my online lady friends there is just something about sitting on the couch and being mesmerised together. I have that when I watch Tengen Toppa or Madoka with my friends … the energy in the room is like magic. With friends in a room you do not need sleep , good anime can almost be like a druglike high.. without like ruining your body chemistry and not being able to poop and all. So with a good anime you can be high AND poop! The best two worlds! Which is a perfect bridge! I am getting so good at this!

My show would be the best of Seinen and Josei, showing some deeper relationship between characters and genuine emotional responses but also some nice action with a bit of darkness to it. Where cuteness and edginess clash but also intermix. We will throw in some Yuri and maybe some Yaoi elements as well for good measure obviously mostly implied with a single scene here and there that is a bit more explicit. I wanna watch this with friends, so pausing is not a thing so I would build some fan service moments where I can get myself, and maybe my friends, a drink and then they can go fetch drinks during some more heartfelt moments! Like a cute hand holding watching the sunset scene or something. Or during the guys flirting with each other. You know because plenty of my friends still think that’s not something they want to see. A girl’s gotta stay hydrated or inebriated… your pick! I would try to make it as unappealing as possible to young boys as possible because I do not like kids and I would not like to watch this show with one. Plus having to deal with someone like that during the fan meets is something I am not keen for either so .. there! Young girls I do not mind as much so I might throw in a unicorn somewhere or something! I am afraid that young boys will still like it as well..because it’s just going to be so awesome!
Not sure why I spend this long edditing this but hey! Details can be cool just like my anime!
Now to create a story for my show! That means also coming up with a genre.. but I usually like mixed genres. So i’d probably combine the Isekai, Magical Girl, Horror, Comedy and Romance genre together with a healthy dose of surrealism in the mix as well. Maybe something a bit tournaments as well because I really like those. Of course I’d like a twist on each genre as well.. it will not be a flat up Isekai instead there will be a twist. The horror elements can’t really be twisted as it just involves some scary stuff and the comedy is to balance out the grimness I’d like to insert to make it a bit cute as well. As a twist on the Magical Girl stuff I’d like to take it completely over the top.. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann style mixed with Dragon Ball Z/Super. New transformations happen constantly and grow more and more ridiculous. In a show that just makes you yell out loud! Who the Hell do you think we are! Except no that one because it is taken.Something like “Our Bonds are Unbreakable.. and these bonds shall be your chains’ or ‘Love has brought us together and made us an unstoppable force we are NAKAMA, WE ARE TOMODACHI’ . You know I’d figure it out somehow. I’d like some of those kind of elements though.
So for the story I imagine something along the lines of the 1983 Dungeons And Dragons Cartoon but with a twist. Instead of getting completely Isekaid a group of 6 players or so, would be forced to play a deadly game of D&D in a house with a creepy Dungeon Master. While playing the cast gets transported to the magical world. If you die in that world you’ll die in real life as well.The characters have to keep their real selves alive as well as their avatars. It would have some Danganronpa elements where the DM is but a creep animatronic..hosting a session for several hours a day. Once it is over the characters return to their human lives and find themselves trapped in a mysterious mansion. By completing quests more of the house is unlocked and parts of the mysteries are revealed but as the game lingers on the dungeon master becomes increasingly unfair and stuff from the fantasy world seems to bleed over in the real world. As the house is revealed to have staff members that seem like their allies and foes in the game world their trust on what is and what is not on both levels would get twisted. Of course they do fall in love with each other as the show goes on.. and learn new transformations based on their class archetypes in D&D as they figure out how to cheat the Dungeon Master.. can they escape?
While I said there should be 6 characters or so the game might start with a few more.. you know a few disposables to tell us exactly how deadly this game is. Friends they make in the house later on.. as staff becomes unlocked and people in game are not death proof either and most likely only the Yuri couple would walk out alive. Why them? Because I do not want a super grim end , there has to be some happy end but they are most likely to adhere to the classic horror elements of final girls. It would feel right. Besides it would combine super well the with the second element. There would be a psychological horror aspect, the Butler who is so sweet in the mansion who takes care of all of your needs turns out to be an evil guy in the campaign a traitor who got you into trouble.. does this mean the Butler can’t be trusted? What happens when a character suddenly becomes a vampire and seems feverish in real life? Are they transforming here to ? Can they even? The DM tells there is a betrayer in the campaign is it one of the players, is he referring to an npc. As the show goes on the players at one time even begin to doubt if their Isekaid versions might not be the real versions and if the game is a delusion. Of course there will be plenty of grim quests and creepy monsters too. Reality unravels more and more as mistrust grows as the DM sows more and more doubt in their minds. What can you trust?
The Magical Girl aspect comes from a power that the people get in the D&D world.. they can stack classes. Initially maybe from a dead player, whose mini’s they discover as they go on but later they can stack more on top. For example the sorcerer girl takes the powers of a ranger girl as well and transforms into a magical girl like looking hybrid of the classes that can shoot elemental arrows with pinpoint accuracy. The gay barbarian boy can take the spells of a wizard and becomes a sort of thor hybrid adding lighting to his strikes. The fighter can take some druid animals , changing their strength by shifting to Gorilla arms, use wings for a huge downwards sword trust or even add a scorpion tail to poison their opponent. The warlock could combine with a rogue.. wielding shadow magic.. being unseen cursing people from the shadow with shadows and so on. However as they develop bonds they can take on the primary class of their romantic partner in the mix..becoming an even stranger hybrid, finding additional classes along the way in a way like the crests in digimon and so on. Each time they become stranger more powerful hybrids that can lend themselves to truly unique designs. Breaking limits against a DM that doesn’t seem intent on giving them a fair chance. Eventually we end up with a pair that basically can stack all the classes to be found and transcend into near godhood.

That ties in to the increasing insanity element again.. players begin to resend their weak powerless bodies as their power in game increases their strength and will in real live wanes. In order to keep everyone level headed , very early in the series people would be partnered up to function as each others anchor. Sharing thoughts with each other these of course quickly lead to a bit of a romance element. For that reason it is best that none of the players know each other at the start, they would just get an invite to play in an amazing game all know how to play D&D and it would be a great opportunity.. much like how an invitation to Hope’s Peak Academy seemed prestigious at first. Regardless , after each major quest we would see the characters explore the house for an episode or so and some pillow talk in the rooms could provide background on characters and would be our primary method to get to know their real selves. We can find out that the Wizard for example has an over-demanding father which pushed the Wizard to focus on their academic accomplishments so their Int stat is high and we find out why they are a wizard in game. While the girl dreaming to be an idol might start out as a bard. Sharing with each other and being in danger so often of course allows the characters to open their hearts for another and eventually fall in love.
The comedy element would come from some more whimsical quests suddenly tossed into the mix and some group bonding in the house. The group knows they need to keep morale up so not everything is grim and dark, they sometimes just have some fun as they dress the Butler up to like Mister Villain.. or once they found out the butler has to clean everything they have a bake off in the now unlocked ot them kitchen and just make a chaotic mess. Most of the comedy will be contained to the fantasy world though as players can not help but act like players in a fantasy game and mess up situations like D&D players would .. in the funny way. It would not be overly dominant but it would offer a bit of a relief from the despair. An element that might be needed or at the least could lead to some cute figurines being sold!
To wrap this up let’s look at the series length. I think it would need to be something of a 25 episode anime at least. Maybe even 50, there is a lot to tell. I am using Digimon as a blueprint to go on here. It also had that world duality mechanic throughout most of its shows and usually had to use between 50 and 100 episodes. Since it will be less monster of the week, but still a bit I’d say 50 is a safe but ideally I would like to wrap the story in about 36 episodes. The show needs to be long enough for people to doubt the established status quo. what world is real?! What is fake?!.. this works better as a slower format as questions need to linger for a bit to add to the mystery. There is yet another reason for the large number of episodes! Obviously the pacing is important and while 36 seems ideal the chosen studio I would love to use is a studio that has trouble with pacing.
Pacing is important in anime!
Studio Trigger would be my choice as a production studio. I would also love Gainax as a studio but those haven’t been very active lately. Trigger can be both light and dark and has that surreal style in things I really love. I loved Kill la Kill myself despite people thinking it’s not okay and all, but those transformation scenes.. that feeling is something I’d really want when someone transforms in my show! Both the villians and the Ryoko’s transformation felt really powerful! I loved the music as well so I am sure they could hook me up in that department. I’d like that same bombastic feel Kill la Kill had during the battle scenes but I also like the tense uneasy synthwave in BNA ..something like that.. could still work in the house.. because of how D&D is surrounded by that 80’s vibe. Like adding a bit of Stranger Things charm on top of it. As A director I would love to get Shinji Takamatsu. The guy of Gundam Wing but also Cute Earth Defence club Love. Both have traits I ‘d like to see back in their directing.His experience with Gintama would also help when the Isekaid characters break the fourth wall in there.
My show would have less skin on characters though! Like.. I mean more clothes.. the skin thing is like mid season!
My voice talent I haven’t fully figured out yet but there is one choice that is very obvious! Not starting with that though I think the female lead should be played by Tomosa Murata who voices Gasai Yuno in Mirai Nikki. I think she has a wide vocal range and can sound cutesy but also cry in despair quite well Since the characters in this show deal with faltering sanity I think Tomosa has the acting chops to make this work. For her dub-voice I’d cast Kate Micucci. I love her role as Webby Vanderquack. Kate’s inflection and tone reads naturally a bit geeky and awkward and those are traits I want in my main character. She doesn’t need to be hyper cute like Ako Tamaki, this character is a bit of a mix of Usagi from Sailor Moon, mixed with Tomoko from Watamote topped of with a bit of Honoka from Futari Wa Precure
The DM should be voiced by Takehito Koyasu better known as the voice of Dio! He also played Boris in BNA recently and he played Gin in Food Wars. This guy has such a commanding presence which is perfect for the role of our creepy mysterious Dungeon Master. The guy is in like EVERYTHING so he should not be hard to get! For the English dub there isn’t a shadow of doubt in my mind who should play the role of the DM… Mark Hamill!……….. Kidding! There is obviously only one right choice and if this thing ever get made this choice is an requirement for the dub to even happen.. the Dungeon Master HAS to be voiced… by Matthew Mercer.
Now that I layed out my perfect anime, I might actually write a story for it I am not fully sure yet but I got myself really excited about this idea! How would your ideal anime look like?! You know the whole super stats thing! Little did I know it would boost my social awkwardness and my bad luck as well! With that boosted bad luck, I became a side character! NANI!!! Hello again dear diary! I am sorry I haven’t written to you in so long! I spilled my inkwell on evening of the third day just as I was to chronicle that.. and well I am sorry for tearing a pages out of you but things have gotten a bit messy! All in all it didn’t matter much anyway because that third day not a lot happened! I almost felled compelled not to leave my house and do anything! I kinda felt blue for failing my first quest as well. Like I could not be bothered doing anything so I just lay in my bed and thought about this new life. I wonder if Elle ..the lady I was reborn lived happily.. and where did she go?! Maybe I am just Elle and I am had a very weird dream ..and I am accidentally going insane..maybe it’s some sort of disease that rots my brain away! Then again I can still count exactly how many nails there are in my bedroom floor, and extrapolate that given my house dimensions to within a margin of about 12 nails are able to tell exactly how many nails hold my floors together. So maybe my brain is still fine!.. But day three came and went without any events. Day four was like that as well. I visited the Owl’s Nest briefly but they had no new quests. Since things were slow I thought I might ask Maine out for a date.. to thank her for the coins she gave me and .. you know she still is kinda good looking.. but she was still out on her forest trip. Ynaja asked me where I was from and was like the way I was.. I did not understand at first but she thought I was weird.. it made me a bit sad and I went home, not doing much! I think I even forgot to eat!
Today however was quite differently! I went back to the guild and I saw Oscott, Mirina and Daria had returned so I guess Maine was back as well. I wagged my tail so hard I knocked over a glass of another woman in the guild, her name was Carlita a Celestial Bloodrager. She was Drow, from the Down-Underdark. If I ever find my way back to the real world and I can take this diary let me explain! A Blood-Rager is an inbetween of a Barbarian and Sorcerer Archetype.. who draw their magic power from something in their blood and Carlita is part angelic .. so she is prone to barbaric fighting but when she rages she changes shape of sorts getting a much cuter uniform and angelic wings! …A Drow is something close to a Dark Elf.. you know like those ones from Skyrim with the bluish skin In normal D&D they are from a place called the Underdark.. but in this world they call it the Down-Underdark ..and it’s like an Island far far away! So yeah I spilled her drink I saw her transform because she was angry and then.. she looked super glowly and her outfit went white I even saw wings I think.. but then … I got knocked out again..later she told me she did not mean to , it was just a reflex and we talked a bit. When the dizziness in my head finally was over I walked up to the quest board and saw one new quest. There were more before but well in my time unconscious most were picked up already.
Bloodrager Carlita
The quest was a two person stake out in a romantic park, I would have to pose as the others lover ..so feed each other sandwiches and like pretend to be a couple in love. Apparently someone was selling bogus love potions..or lust potions .. I am not exactly sure as I have found myself increasingly unable to read subtext. Regardless..a guy sold potions to couples to help deepen their bond but it actual makes people break up and hate each other and it had caused conflict in the town that held the park.. which wasn’t to far away from our town either. I like love so the idea to defend it was super appealing to me! Maine promised me to take me on the next quest so this is where I could make my move! However I did decide to ask around for other options though! Maybe she’d want some rest after her quest. Oscott looked quite pensive and said he needed to shine the inside of his armor so he could not. He must be a clean freak or something if he wants to do that because no one can see that! Mirina told me to leave her alone and she wanted to get drunk. She would not go to a picknick because getting drunk publicly was fineable. Daria told me she had to do a thing.. at “whatsitcalled” and Carlia dropped her pen under the table, she could not hear me, she kept searching.. I did not remember her writing.. so maybe I am going insane!
Maine Finally showed up and I asked her to do the quest with me , she came up and smiled reading the quest. “I think I might take this quest with Mister Mans if you do not mind Elle’ she said while taking the paper away from me. ‘I don’t think we would make a very believable couple now would we?’ she winked at me..I think..she might have stabbed her sword in my chest because that is how it felt! ‘Why?’ I was able to ask her that and she looked at me and frowned. ‘Well I like boys, for one and with your disabilities I don’t think you should go out there,you’ll be made in no time and get into danger, I rather see you safe’ ‘M-my disability I asked?’ Maine looked at me and patted my head ‘You know , you are a bit low on charisma my dear, you have a charm for sure but socially you are a bit of a wreck’ I froze up … straight in the Kokoro! I bet this is how those anime characters feel like when the look grey and with the big white eyes and such! When she was gone.. so was my quest.. I sniffeled a bit when Carlita came to me and gave me a quick hug. ‘I am sorry.. I bet she didn’t mean to hurt you…I just think she really wanted to take this quest with Rho though but hey you know what I have a quest for you, I recently lost my pet, I’ll give you 5 gold if you find it for me? ‘
Carlita told me she lost her cat called Autumn and upon me inquiring more details about the cat she at first seemed to be inclined to tell me something but than she changed her mind. ‘Maybe it is part of the quest you can ask around, meet some people in town, I live in near the ports. The house across the ship Jupiter’s Grace.. the one with the green roof. Perhaps you could ask one of the sailors if they have seen my cat?! It will help you proof Maine is wrong about your social skills as well sweety’ . She winked at me shooed me off. ‘Come on you go girl! Your quest awaits’ . Since I needed the money and could use some experience points I dashed off. I did notice Carlita use a different voice inflection than before, indicating that there is an increased chance of her knowing more about the whereabouts of her own cat. It is my hypothesis that she knows exactly where to find it and it’s not even missing but she wished to relieve my psycho-emotional malady. In fact given the downwards faced gazed and the avoidant approach factor Ynaja had heading towards the table I suspect she would soon inquire on Carlita why his quest was given to me! Speculation could be made that this quest was given to me to secure my financial security.. but the way her eyes lit up it seems there have been well willing ulterior motives in play.
Making why way to the docks I was almost overwhelmed with the salinity of the ocean air.. but also the scent of not so fresh fish! Probably heavily brined. I guess not having access to motorised ships and cooling decks has made the intake of fresh fish more difficult. After acclimating a bit I approached the ships. Apparently the ships are mostly named after gods followed by a blessing of some kind. Most ships were fishing boats like Silvanus Solace or Mystra’s Boon. One ship was a bit mysterious a trade vessel helmed by mostly Tiefling Sailors that seemed to avoid me, unlike me they mostly had red skins, though there were a few variations and blue ones on top of the deck. They were the crew of a ship called Beshaba’s Pearl. It had a figurehead of a tiefling female but instead of demon like horns she had black deerlike antlers. I could not stop staring at it for a while.. until a seagull dropping hit my outfit. I went onto the dock to wash it off..when all the Tiefling Sailors suddenly moved out of my way and withdrew the plank to their ship! I guess they really are superstitious about women being on boats. Unfortunately I fell in the water while rinsing of my outfit because one of the wooden boards had come a bit loose… the ship would not even toss me a rope! Luckily I managed to climb back on shore again! Men can be so rude!
Finally I found the Jupiter’s Grace but it seemed all but abandoned. I noticed Carlita’s house which was quite a bit larger than mine. A single Drow woman looking very much like Carlita was sitting on the edge of the ship playing with a rose. Other than her the ship was completely abandoned. She wore a sailor uniform so I guess Drow have less issues with female crew members..perhaps they just do not genetically diversify that much so there is a big chance of being a female.. I should inquire more from Carlita at a later time. For now I had to proof I was sociable! So Maine would be proven wrong! So I spoke up as loudly as I could. “Salutations Lascar I was sent by thy kinsman to perform an inquiry upon a unaccounted for Genus Felis. hast thou by whims of faith perhaps perceived anything of such notion” The woman looked at me and pulled up an eyebrow. ‘Salty my what now?’ I do not know what came over me there I tried so hard to sound cool and convince her to work ..but now she thinks I was like a weirdo. I tried again. ‘Excuse me Jupiter Sailor madame I am looking for my friend.. I mean my guildmate’s cate. She lives in that house with the green shingles over there’. The lady stared back at me. ‘Ai I have seen a cat, in fact the thing has been a pest and took off with some of the fish we were unloading. You might want to check out the fish pile near the Mystra’s Boon, they are getting a cart.. I bet your fur ball will show up! ‘ She stared at me from the deck ‘Say you look soaked gal pal.. does li’l old Mako here make you THAT wet?’ She then licked her lips. ‘I fell in the ocean because a bird pooped on me.. I don’t know who Mako is.. is it a person with like a squirt gun or a like someone who throws a bucket of water?” The Drow looked confused “No I am.. you know what never mind’. So I went off.
Maho the Drow “Sailor”
I made my way towards the fish pile that was stacked near the fisherman boat the woman whose name I forgot to ask and tried to hide behind a crate.. unfortunately a bird had tried to pick up a fish and dropped it right in front of my fooves, my feet hooves and I slipped on it and fell into the pile of fish. While trying to crawl out getting fish slapped in the face everywhere I noticed the sound of meowing coming closer. I decided to hide for a bit longer in the fish pile and then flop out when the cat is eating it should not move then! The plan was quite successful, although the oil in the fish had made me a bit more oily than I would have liked.. so I slid a bit to far and bonked my head on a chest. Luckily my horns kept me safe. The little cat did not get scared off by me! It was a tiny black cat.. not much past a kitten. I called out “Autumn..come here.. Elle is going to take you to your Mamma!’ I do not know why calling myself by my new name comes so natural to me! Yet the kitten actually abandoned the fish and like bonked it’s head against me a few times! Maybe it liked how fishy I smelled! I had no trouble picking it up!..Walking off the docks was a different story! I was so slippery.. but I had to keep Autumn safe.. so I brazed myself and walked back to the guild like I had pooped in my pants.. almost doing a crab walk as well.. so I would be sure I would not fall. At one point an orange Tabby cat began to follow me as well! It wasn’t as nice as Autmn though! It scratched at my legs a bit and trying to take a bit. So now I had to crabwalk with another cat nibbling at my feet! I bet if I could rinse of the fish oil at the guild it would return home! This cat actually had a collar! I should get Autumn a collar as well! That way Carlita would be extra happy! Crabwalk to the store!
By the time I got there though the store was closed! I did not dare to move fast..enough so I guess I should give her that as a treat the next day. The orange Tabby had stopped scratching my leg as well.. which is good because I am pretty sure I could see some bone sticking out! I should have Ynaja heal that. ‘Oh look it’s the Tiefling and her cat parade’ a familiar voice suddenly said. It was the Drow woman that was the Jupiter Sailor. ‘If you like cats that much , I have a pussy for you’ she said. ‘While I would like to become a pet owner myself I am unsure if I currently possess the economical means to sustain a cat for an extended period of time. ‘No worry babe’ the woman said ‘This pussy will leave in the morning’ I frowned. ‘I do not think a pet should be only kept for a day, relocating stress will still be in effect so while I would not mind a cat staying over for a night I think it would not be in their best interest accept a deal like this so I am afraid I must decline. The woman laughed and patted me on the head. ‘Aren’t you precious lil old Mako likes you..she’ll probably give up for today but don’t you worry babe she will be back’ I gasped! ‘The water throwing person? ‘ The sailor laughed again and walked off. Such a strange person! I find myself completely incapable to comprehend what she wants.. perhaps it’s her way of speaking it seems more crude than I am used to.. I find myself unable to make conclusions based on these sentences.
Little Leg Hurting Monster
When I finally got back to the guild Carlita was already outside waiting for me. ‘She saw me coming in slowly for a while as crab walking was not very fast. “Autumn’ she yelled coming towards me. With some pain in my heart I held up the little black kitten! It was so nice to me! It fell asleep in my grasp even, making a purring noise! Then Carlita moved right past me and picked up the orange cat. ‘Thank you for finding Autumn she said kissing the orange one. ‘Wait if that is Autumn who is this guy or girl?’. Carlita came closer inspected it and said it was a girl while handing me five gold pieces putting them in my pocket with a wink. ‘You earned them girlfriend’ she said. ‘Okay but whose cat is this? It doesn’t have a collar’. The bloodrager looked at it and pointed out some out how it was somewhat poorly groomed. ‘She might be a stray, why don’t you take her home with you.. if you found her at the docks she might be hungry and trying to keep herself alive.. it will not be long for a bad sailor would harm her. ‘How did you know she was eating fish’ I asked Carlita. ‘Well she’s a cat.. and you smell like a barrel of fish I just put 1 and 1 together’ she once more winked at me. ‘How did you know it was female then?’ I asked. Carlita winked again and said she might just have a talent or perhaps she met it once or twice..who knows? I am beginning to think Drow have really twitchy eyelids! I looked at the black girl cat kitten. ‘So do you want to come with me?’ I asked it.. It meows really loudly and pressed it’s head against my hand. ‘That seems like a yes, so how are we going to name you then? ‘ I stared at it for a while before I decided. I found it before I found Autumn apparently so I settled on the name Summer. Carlita congratulated me with my first completed quest and told me she would give me a hug..but I should go home to take a bath. That seemed like a good idea.
So that’s about it my dear diary! I think I will call you Diana by the way! I took Summer home with me and she seemed to like it there! Like just before I got home she like jumped out of my hands and ran towards the home herself..she got in my way a bit as she swirved to the side…so I had to stop and I kinda jump aside into some horse manure..but well I was going to take a bath anyway it did not really matter! I had a little friend now.. I am less lonely! Oh I forgot to mention that Ynaja healed my flesh that Autumn had scratched away! Otherwise the horse Manure could have easily caused horrible infections that might lead to amputations or weird diseases but no, so don’t worry about me Diana I am going to be fine! Remind me to get a patch of fabric though once I go out to buy Summer a collar tomorrow! I do need to teach her some manners, she got in my way again and since I not wanted to trip on her I just threw myself to the side and my growing back horns poke a hole in my couch! I need the patch for that!
I had a nice bath though! I put Summer on my bed and told her to wait for me and she looked at me and meowed in agreement. Then I filled a tub with some hot water and added some rose petals and scented oils. I first threw a few buckets of water on myself like in the alley behind my house to rinse of the fish.. I hoped Summer would like me after but I felt she would. When I was in the bath I wondered.. Maine shot me down.. hardly.. do I have a chance .. I think she like Rho! He’s a thief.. so is it true women really like bad boys?! I don’t understand.. maybe I should find a bad person who likes me? Like a ..anti-paladin or a pirate or a corporate executive?! I wonder if someone like that would ever be into me?! At least Carlita was kinda nice to me.. It’s kind of weird though how no important quests show up when Maine is not around and when there is only one left she always gets the last one even if I try… She will still be away tomorrow as the next town is a day’s travel by foot. So I will see if this trend continues! Anyway I should go sleep now.. Summer fell asleep on the middle of the bed and i did not want to distrub her so I guess I will sleep on the floor next to her. I don’t want her to be afraid that I am gone should she wake up! I wonder if Ynaja can heal backpains?!
This is it! The list that would kill my blog if it had still been just about Pokémon! After reading this list not a single pokémon fan will take me seriously anymore.. after reading this list the man with the long sleeved coats and the soft walls will come collect me! All because the fire type beats the steel type! No Charizard will not be on my list! I find him overrated and overused! It’s like you talk about Pokémon and there he is well not this time Charizard this post will not mention you……D’oowww friggin crabcakes!
With this post we will be two-thirds into every pokémon typing so the rules should be clear by now. Only one entry per evolutionary line and I am free to pick my favorite but if I dislike the final evolution a pokemon might miss a nomination..because of all the steep competition Raboot and Scorbunny come to mind, but not because I dislike Cinderace, in fact I don’t mind him at all. I just REALLY dislike how little rhyme and reason there is to their evolution line. From a though kid with a patch on his nose, into a ninja like, into a soccer player. Now I know the ninja like look may be a soccer player warming up .. but I see a ninja and an edgy kid. So I can’t help but feel like “this doesn’t evolve into THAT when I see it. I would have loved to see Raboot somewhere else.. in the game..not as starter but like a thing of its own.. it doesn’t seem to fit Galar in the way I interpret it but I love the design I really want to see it in a more fitting line.
Secondly a pokémon has to fit a certain flavour for me to fit the typing. The fire type mostly has that covered for me. A weird one I do not really find a fire type is the pokémon Ironically named Talonflame…yet even with fire in the name and bright orange feathers I am not sold that it is a fire type. To me it’s a speedy hawk. With its ability Gale Wings I usually run it with Brave Bird anyway and run it more as a pure flying type. The reason I think this is is because it gets a primary typing change. It starts as Fletchinder who is a normal flying type like most birds. Yet when it evolves it’s primary typing gets changed. That doesn’t happen a whole lot and since the time I did actually pick it up I ran with a Fennekin I gave it a normal and flying moveset and that feeling stuck for me! I recognise it’s a Fire type.. but I rarely use it as such so to me it’s like all the other birds.
Nothing with a temporary form either, while I vastly prefer Primal Groudon over regular Groudon, a primal reversion is not a form you constantly have on your team You can choose not to give it the red ob and then Groudon will stay a ground type! I think this Pokémon should always have had the fire typing because of that it represents so I was really glad when Omega Ruby gave me what I had been asking for all those years! However, it only happens when you send it into battle so no this pokémon unfortunately will not be making my list.. unlike.. a pokémon I am sure will get me discredited as a pokémon fan.
That’s right the most hated pokémon of all times, is in my top five favourites and no that is not a stunt for attention I really and genuinely like this pokémon. I like it so much that one of the first posts I made on my website was a promotion of this adorable simian. No one shared love for it so now it is back with a vengeance! I honestly feel that everything deserves love so when I saw Simisear get so much hate I just could feel it weeping that nobody cared for it.. I heard it cry so I picked it up and realised..this isn’t so bad at all. In fact this a solid mixed attack, sure it isn’t all that special but I had a lot of fun with it. On Pokémon Showdown while doing random battles this pokémon also came up a lot for me and every time I was happy. I am like the patron of unloved pokémon .. I try them out and try to find the best in them and often I do and I had a blast with my sweet monkey! Who’s a good boy! Mamma Pinkie loves you even if no one in the world doesn’t!
Lorewise this pokémon isn’t particularly interesting but it has enough endearing info for me to fall in love with it more. This pokémon survives by keeping a flame within itself alive, for this it needs a lot of energy which it prefers to gets out of candy and other sweets. It reminds me so much of my OC Luma who is a near godlike creature who also needs lots of energy so she is a candy fanatic herself. Since it’s like a counter to your opponents starter and a static pokémon the pokemon fan titled “trash monkeys’ have a 87.5% chance to be male! Biologically speaking at least! I do not assume gender of course! Simisear evolves from Pansear once you expose it to a fire stone and it gains the ability to shake embers from it’s head and it sprays out fire from his tail once he is excited. The more excited this pokémon becomes the hotter it gets. So a happy little monkey is a hot little monkey!
Simisear has fairly low stats with his attack and special attack only being 98 aside from speed being at 101 the rest is all lower resulting in a fairly lackluster base stat total of 498. However Simisear gets a pretty decent moveset that can really surprise his opponents. Obviously you will want to run flamethrower or at least a powerful fire type move for same type attack bonus moves! Since it’s stats are fairly low you will want to run Nasty Plot to boosts it’s special attack! Put on the move Focus Blast which provides Weakness covery against rock but also is a very powerful way to get around earth types and even most dragon types or anything resisting fire. Grass Knot is a great final move since all of his weaknesses usually are heavy and slow pokémon. Grass Knot deals damage based on the pokémons weight and it covers all three of it’s weaknesses so that is absolutely a great move to put on this guy that kinda looks like Giorno Giovanna! So the best part is you can play Giorno’s theme when kicking ass with a pokémon people really can not stand! That is a win in my book!
The guy gal or otherwise who came up with the idea to make an Alolan Marowak based on a Hawaiian fire dancer should be given an award of some kind because oh my! While Cubone’s lore has always been super special Marowak always just was that mother that just kinda got killed. I like it fine but the way it Alola treated it was amazing. One of my if not my favorite regional forms and and for those keeping track.. I really like alolan forms! It might not even be the last one we see in this format! The hawaiian fire dancers that pay tribute to the dead alone would be enough to make it pretty special.. but they also had to give it the ghost time? Remember Marowak?! Well it’s still dead! Yet they did more with it.. you see.. this Marowak is not that pokémon that got killed.. it is actually that Cubone but it evolved. There are actual layers to this pokémon. And when it literally evolves an okay but sorta bland design into an almost identical looking one but better in every way with just some subtle tweaks and recolourations you know you are doing something right! , I can gush about how right this pokémon feels like me for ages and I think that is on it’s own a very powerful achievement. For once I am not particularly called back to my pokémon but how it fits in the entire pokémon world! Mad Props!
There is no Alolan Cubone, instead this Cubone is something that takes a different path. It’s mother was a regular , or an Alolan Marowak that got killed and Cubone this time took her bones instead of just her skull. However these bones were filled with regrets of it’s mother of being unable to keep her child safe. Mother and child now sort of fuse into a spirit of vengeance where the former cubone functions as the body while it can manipulate the spirit of it’s mother into being flames that burn it’s targets. With a burn that does not go away by applying water! Due to its nature and their familiarity with loss Alolan Marowak make graves for their fallen companions and honour their fallen by dancing for them, the graves consist out of little mounds of dirt. As a result of its loss it has a rivalry with the pokémon Mandibuzz, which is apparently responsible for it’s mother. Both Pokémon can be found in rocky mountainous areas, which is Marowaks habitat because it has trouble living in green environments on account of it’s fire abilities. This calls back to the fact that cubone is the lonely Pokémon! This pokémon lives with its allies in relative isolation not to set the region ablaze. It’s lore keeps very much in mind where the pokémon came from as well as the region and I love it for it.
Alolan Marowak is much like his Kantonian counterpart a physically defensive pokémon.. as they share stats amongst each other it means their defence is the highest stat at 110 and both their offensive stats cap of at a mediocre 80. With a speed of 45 this thing is quite slow despite of its nimble dancing so it is not something you want to send in and take a hit from something it is weak against. I personally run the set with Willow Wisp.. a 100% burn guarantee move that halves your opponents physical attacks damage! Allowing it to maximise its own defences. Depending on your team set up this can be replaced by stealth rocks for entry hazards or sword dance for additional damage .. (if you have another way to burn them that would be great) you run it with its signature move Shadow Bone, which offers great same type attack bonus and as a ghost type move has some good coverage and the move Flare Blitz. THis move could be swapped out for Fire punch if you decide you rather have lighting immunity on your team with it’s lightning rod ability rather than Rockhead which prevents recoil damage. In my opinion Rock Head/Flare Blitz is superior combination in general especially in regular gameplay moments as electric moves types usually do not want to swap into this pokémon because it knows Bone Club and Earthquake which should be your last move anyway.
I always favoured Magmar over Charizard, because Charizard to be honest is my least favorite starter of Gen I , I just like the other two better, since Growlithe never appeared in Pokémon Blue that meant my options were either Ponyta or Magmar when it came to a fire type. I could trade with my sister but she usually really liked Charizard and never ended up really catching fire types. At school I was a bit of a bullied kid so Growlithe was something I missed out on for quite a while. Not until a Pokémon event I visited would I get that one. So while I love Growlithe and Arcanine.. I never had the same bond with it as I had with Magmar.. my fire duck! For those who are a bit familiar with me they know I love ducks! Of course it doesn’t hurt that it has a pinkish shiny! When my Lava duck got a trade tiem that evolved it into a super duck! I could not be happier! Magmar already had the previous two entries defeated in the stat department and now it got even better! A super artillery like fire duck that had some cool pairing with Electabuzz evolution as well! Sign me up!
Lorewise Magmortar is the most boring pokémon on this list. It has basically one relevant pokédex entry and it states that it can shoot fireballs that are about 3600 degrees fahrenheit which are 2000 degrees in the real temperature of Celsius (1982 to be exact) and for those who say.. Go Fahrenheit.. I say Celsius scales to Kelvin.. it just has a different zero point.. and Kelvin is the absolute temp measurement.. so if you really want to nag ..sure then Magmortar fires fireballs of 2255.15 degrees Kelvin which is the absolute best temperature measurement, there we go. But yeah other than those fireballs it doesn’t do a whole lot.. it body becomes a bit whiteish when it does that according to most Pokedex entries and it’s breath is boiling hot and can sizzle.. which is not strange if you consider that Magmar , it’s pre-evolution’s body temperature is already 1477.594 degrees Kelvin, which is 273.15 degrees more than it’s temperature in Celsius and it’s 2200 degrees of that weird one.|Obviously Sun and Moon had to make this pokedex lore a bit darker because that is what they did.! Apparently if Magmortar fires these balls in rapid succession it’s body becomes so hot that it begins to melt. Whatever it hits turns into a blackened shrunken , charred nothingness… so it prefers to kill its prey in other methods because there isn’t enough left to eat otherwise. Thanks Sun and Moon!
In combat Magmortar has many options , but let’s build a set that really capitalised on his amazing 125 special attack! I think one of the best ways to use it to its maximum potential is to make it a Sunny Day user. This is a move that boosts up the power of fire moves and one should consider Heat Wave, Fire Blast or Flamethrower with Heat Wave being your best option in my opinion but Fire Blast coming with a Higher Power but lower PP and Flamethrower coming with a better chance to burn etc. Solar Beam should also be equipped. After Sunny Day it is a one turn move with 120 base power that hits all of Magmortars Weaknesses super effectively, with a base speed of 84.. I suggest putting some EV’s in speed and it will on average be the faster between those water rock or ground types. Psychic would be a great move for some further coverage against some Meta-dominating types and in Showdown where it can Dynamax psychic terrain grants some additional benefits. Spec it out like a semi-fast special sweeper and you will definitely bring some pain.
Darmanitan is easily one of the most unique fire types out there, based on A Daruma doll with some ape like features and an ability to turn into a statue that gains the psychic type as well as massive defensive an special attacking capabilities make it a super versatile monster. However it’s alternate ability makes it a powerhouse that can one shot so many things. There is just something to this pokémon that is incredibly appealing to me. It has this charisma. Whenever I see that Pokémon I go like! Yes that is a Pokémon I wanna use! It looks awesome. Even when a Daruma Doll pokémon is a weird thing to insert in a region based on America. In fact that is what made it even more appealing. Darmanitan and Darumaka stood out from Black and White to me.. and Darmanitan is probably my favorite Gen V Pokémon, though I really like Scrafty as well.. oh and Krookodile! It just feels so unique to me, those bushy eyebrows, those eyes, that sharp grin it is absolutely amazing. Visually except for Ho-Oh who already made a prior list maybe the most appealing fire type for me! So there is already a lot of love there! Yet i can’t even fully tell why.
Pokédex wise it’s more temperate stuff, but I can’t be bothered doing all the calculations again so let me just say it’s colder than Magmortars self melting fireballs and hotter than Magmar. While in it’s Apish form it is said to have a power level.. equal to its temperature with a maximum 2500. While Power Level is never used in Pokémon.. 2500 equals abouts Two Raditz and a normal form Master Roshi. I know those sound weak but I bet they could punch the crap out of a shit ton of wildlife! While it’s unsure if this power level is anything remotely close to the one we see in Dragon Ball Z is unknown BUT it is given context in the pokedex.. as Darmantian can obliterate a Dump Truck with one single punch, which makes me thing the Two Raditz is fair comparison. Also I know PETA tried to make us feel bad for the Pokémon in this world but no one ever stood still at the dump trucks! I noticed how many dump trucks get destroyed by pokémon, is that why we never really see a lot of cars in the anime or in the games! Regardless all in all Mew chose a pretty shitty hiding place back in Vermilion city! Perhaps it really wanted to get found and since it is the biological ancestor of all pokémon it made sure so many pokemon could find it and play with it? Hmmmm theories!
In combat Darmanitan can be a beast. While many people prefer to run the mixed Zen Mode set, the one where Darmanitan turns into a statue (which is other pokedex lore but they just say it turns hard and sharpens it’s mind so meh) I prefer the Sheer Force version. Which boosts power of attacks by 30% but negates any secondary effect like a burn chance etc. Flare Blitz, Earthquake, Rock Slide and Hammer Arm as moves give it a coverage against virtually everything, a life orb will make sure it hits so hard it just destroys everything in its path. It doesn’t take a lot of hits.. but to be honest that would not be fair. With Dynamax being a thing letting this one grow and use a few Max fighting moves to increase it’s already huge 140 base so now it arguably is even better, with the Dynamax Fire move putting up the sun to power your Flare Blitzes as well this can really be a sheer force to be reckoned with.
Cyndaquil is my favorite fire starter ever, without a shadow of about, I like torchic as well but Blaziken I found a bit.. undefinable or something I do not know! Cyndaquil is my favorite starter from my favorite Gen from my possibly favorite Region. Of course it’s also the only one who is weak to Whitney’s Miltank so I cursed the living daylights of it as well Though that was mostly the Miltank! Gold is the game I replayed the most times..except for Kanto based Rom Hacks maybe.. and while I ran Totodile twice and Chikorita once.. Cyndaquil I have chosen for a grand total of at least 5 times. A feat only surpassed by a single starter and it’s not a fire type. I head a lot of Cyndaquils, bearing a lot of names and all of them I loved very much! The nick nameless one (I think it was the first but not fully sure) was one I particularly held dear because it was the first pokémon I ever taught the move Return, which deals damage based on affection and through the power of our friendship we are a very strong pairing. I shall never forget the good times I had with this mon and what it did for me! Thank you for making my childhood and my adventures in Johto awesome.
Now lore wise this Pokémon has no Sun and Moon nor Ultra Sun and Moon Pokédex entries so it should be known that there are no real super dark descriptions on how it blows up innocent kids or something for the heck of it or how it’s burn victims scream in pain only livable for life if they are hoisted in a robotic suit that makes them sound like James Earl Jones. Instead it’s Pokédex entries are a testament of Typhlosion’s power and it’s tantrum. The heat one of these fire starters emits is directly related to it’s rage! At the peak of it’s rage it is so hot that anything it touches..or touches it.. immolates. Science shows that humans who allegedly self immolated have burned at a temperature of 1930 degrees Celsius or 2200 degrees Kelvin (Which translates to about 3500 degrees Fahrenheit). Given that I think it is safe to assume that a Water Killed Crocodile or a Rock with arms probably have higher immolation temperatures it is safe to say this beasty is a big hot head. It is so hot that it can create a shroud of heat. Heat Shimmers that are so intense it can actually hide behind it, from which it launches it’s secret technique! By rubbing it’s blazing fur together it can create an explosive that are so powerful it can reduce everything to firey nothingness. So this means something has to be heated so much it gets undone on a molecular level. This basically only incurs in the sun. So even if we lowball Typhlosions explosion by using the suns outer layers it already can reach up to 5500 degrees Centigrade, 5770 degrees Kelvin and 10.000 degrees Fahrenheit, with the inner workings of the sun going up way higher going into the millions. So pretty powerful either way.
Typhlosion is a mixed attacker, with it’s special attack at 109 base and it’s physical attack at 84. While certainly not the best stats this does keep your opponent guessing. This creature is best when it comes equipped with a choice-item which is an items that boosts a stat (attack, special attack or speed for band, specs or scarf respectively) Physical sets usually run Earthquake (the most used move in this game ever) Fire Punch and Shadow Claw. Special sets use Eruption (which deals damage equal to your hp left.. so rather than boosting your attacking stat boosting your speed seems rather nifty, unless your opponent has a slow team. Flamethrower and Extra Sensory, the fourth move in both cases is a a case of covery and usually based on what type of team you run. Ice is usually a good shout out against Dragon Types. Typhlosion is one of those “it’s okay” in everything type Pokémon so that does means it does not like to swap into opponents moves. Since a choice item locks you into a single move this requires your team to have a special and physical wall to exploit effectively. With Eruption it can hit hard and fast early game and take out a lot that doesn’t resist it but after it takes a hit when locked into Eruption it needs to be swapped out. If it faces something that resists the move it is locked in.. you need to swap it out. This also means you will be very vulnerable to entry hazards like stealth rocks and spikes. So asides from having something that can tank damage you will want a Rapid Spinner or a defogger to remove hazards. So Choice item users really become the center of your team. As a result I do think Typhlosion is a little more advanced to use than some other entries.. but It keeps your opponents guessing and you should know by now how I feel about Mind games! My number1 pick for fire types is this dedicated good boy!

It was the age that Dutch people massively saved their heads bald, put on track suits and spasmed to the beat of music like they were controlled by some unskilled puppeteer. It was the golden age for quiz shows and making people do weird stuff for money. Like there was a show where people had to do like a challenge like.. pee in your pants for a 1000 bucks you have 10 minutes to do so or find 11 people to slep in the face. It was the age where the adults did not wonder about YouTuber X tweeted or which , vaguely half assed celebrity cheated on their spouse and now they had to be destroyed for it.. no they sat on the couch ate some crisps and wondered if Ross and Rachel would ever get back together. I was a kid.. from the age of 4 up until 13. I did not know about those things, I just hoped that Shredder would not harm April O’Neil or that the Biker Mice from Mars would find their way home! Today we take a look at my 90’s!

There are several answers to this question. What would be my favorite 90’s show in hindsight. That would probably be Friends! I still enjoy watching that so much! While it carried on into the 2000’s most of it was 90’s as heck. Back then I think I would have either said DuckTales or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but those are cartoons so I am no sure if the count. But in the end.. all things considered I am going to have to say the one that shaped me most and the one that I really went all out on was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It is the perfect amalgamation of 90’s and what basically is anime! Kids with superpowers and giant combiner robots including multiple transformations and monsters of the week! I wrote Tommy Oliver if he wanted to be my boyfriend after Kim dumped him… I was young but I’d make a great pink ranger! I went to a life show in our concert halls! It was the best thing i had ever seen. While in truth it was not a lot better than the Turtles coming out of their shell tour! .. You really should watch that! Luckily you an right here! Power Rangers stuck with me until this day! I still like it! Ducktales I see got outdated and the new DuckTales series is soooo friggin good it ruined the old show for me. However while I have seen a lot of Power Rangers series and kept updated with more of them even if I could not watch, nothing beats that time capsule feeling of the original. Don’t get me wrong. Power Rangers in Space is like the absolute best series but MMPR is the closest thing to live changing. It introduced me to the concept of soap opera acting and I to this day think there has been no better Blue Ranger than Billy Cranston. Portrayed by David Yost. While Amy Jo Johnson’s Kimberly Hart always has a warm place in my heart I have to admit that my favorite Pink Ranger is Kendrix Morgan played by Valerie Vernon but now is not the time for that! It’s about the 90’s and yo do not get more 90’s than MMPR. The way we have socially grown since then, the outfits, the visual effects, the lessons and what ever kept our minds back then.. there is just so much in this show to remind me of those good old days! I also hate like a treasure chest full of Power Ranger toys so I must have really liked this show.
Honorable Mention to Buffy the Vampire Slayer by the way! I discovered it late.. which isn’t uncommon for us Dutch to get something fairly late but that is another thing that had me hooked and one of the first times I had a girl crush! Season one is from 1997 so I’d say it does count.. though the majority of it happend in the 2000’s But hey.. the winner still is MMPR! Another honourable mention is there for Pokémon, the anime aired here really soon and like Power Ranger it changed my live. Yet like with Buffy , the majoirty of it’s lifespan happend in the 2000’s so just a mention!
That time has come again for me to talk about THAT song! But before we do I am going to show you guys a few other songs. You see as I lived in the Netherlands.. back then we did a lot more “our own thing” rather than dub your shows or post all of america’s top hit songs in our charts.So while doing my tag I am showing you a bit of the dutch 90’s as well! The first song I am going to pick here is a bit more international. Of course I wanted to pick something some of you guys might have forgotten so no Barbie Girl from me! I love how much pink is in that clip though! Not even Toy Box with Best friend.. no instead we go with Bewitched with C’est La Vie!
Okay that one was not my favourite song. I mostly listened to dutch music as it was a lot easier for the by then still mono lingual me. When three Soap Opera Stars formed a girl group using character name to become the Netherlands most desired girl group , I was playbacking and singing along with this song! A song about the breathlessness after sex, but back then I did not know that. I just repeated the words and took it in the most innocent way possible.
I am sure that one was not very interesting to your guys though! It’s a bland clip and the words would make no sense. The other dutch song I am putting up here is something about a dutch group called Gabber’s. A variant of Ravers who would shave their heads, put on a lot of golden chains and would go do a dance named Hakkuh! Which basically would translate to something as Chopping. This got parodied by a dutch comedian and a group named Hakkuhbar and it resulted in this weirdness that I do hold dear. It is a pretty good representation of the “Gabber” Lifestyle.. though the music doesn’t reflect it that well, the Gabbers are still a thing today.. though a lot less of them! This is a real life style to people.. and this clip.. shows it’s quirks very well.
As for my favorite piece of 90’s music! Well in 1990’s a certain video game dropped here in the Netherlands and Japan. It was in America Early..but hey 1989 counts! My love for this song has been mentioned in many tag post and will continue to be mentioned so here it is!
While I don’t know many international adds from back in the time, again the Netherlands did a lot more of their own thing back then so here is a dutch commercial. This is a great commercial for an insurance company that .. despite the “victim” being outdated, would work today, just replace this man with anyone relevant of your choosing! I hope you enjoy this one!
Spice Girls! Girl Power and all! But if I had to choose between the two it would definitely be Back Street Boys! I never liked boy bands all that much but Backstreet’s Back was one of the better songs. I really never liked Justin Timberlake, like ever! Though in the 90’s he had some seriously Giorno Giovanna hair! But yeah Boy Bands always were aimed to make girls dream about boyfriends and make them feel a weird form of ticklish! I never got that so this appeal was lost on me! Not the biggest music fan either! I preferred the Smurfs cover famous music!… or video game music.
I guess Spice Girls here then? Maybe the smurfs?! I honestly do not really idolise music artists at all, Bon Jovi was alright! Robbie Williams had some nice songs.. but yeah I was not really a fan of anyone. I always had a thing for one trick ponies like Eiffel 65 and to lesser extend Lou Bega and of course Los Del Rio. A song captures me not an artist. I am going to with the Spice Girls! I think they would make an awesome anime.. maybe even a JoJo series with them as the main cast! Then again.. a Jojo with Los Del Rio Might even be better! They even already pose!
I was an avid Flippo collector, I am not sure if those existed overseas or if they were exclusively a dutch thing but they were super hype here. I think I saw some with other language prints.. but back then the world was a lot smaller so who knows! Little disks with Looney Tunes characters on it that you played a sort of slamming game with. You threw your Flippo on a stack of your opponents Flippo and everything that fell of the stack face up was yours to collect everything face down including the one you slammed with ..would belong to your opponent.
No one did that though it was just a trading commodity! We send our mothers to buy us the folders in which we could collect them and they came in bag of crisps so we ate like 2 bags a day and begged old ladies for their flippos. They spawned many incarnations including Pokémon spin offs, heavier variants in special flavor of chips and flying flippo’s which you could launch and something called topshots which were flippo’s but of soccer players. I even collected those even though I hate soccer. I once got two air packs of crisps in a row with tose as they really got poorly packaged and they just send met the entire set as an apology! I was so mad they ruined the fun of collecting for me now as well!
If we count the official ones not a lot, if we count the brandless ones about five. Not five different ones though, me and my sister would get one at the same time, and she would always end up abandoning them and I would try to save hers as well. So we got one of those things that grow up from blob into dino things, though I had a more chicken like creature. I lost that one on a vacation and then I had my sisters dino for a while ..but that one could no longer be silenced anymore after one of the buttons broke and one day it disappeared from my room never to be found again ..weirdly enough.. I guess it went to go live on a farm. The third and fourth one was a really weird dog like thing with a hat.. me and my sister got the same thing. That one did not die if you left it alone either, it would take a little handkerchief and tie it to a stick and just walk out of the tamagotchi, it would abandon you. The problem was that thing was super fickle! Like even if you took the best care of it in the world it could still decide to walk out on you for no reason at all. So my sister quickly gave up on hers and I tried to maintain two! Eventually their batteries ran out and that was the end of them.

The final one was a birthday gift my sister had gotten.. it was a dog that could talk and it had a lot more functions.. but the twist was.. it did not walk around on your screen.. it was the device the screen was just it’ face. So instead of playing games you had to wipe crummies off it’s face and do a sort of Simon Says with it. That one I loved the most but eventually that one ran out of batteries as well and I could not be stuffed to begin all over with it all again. Not that long after that Pokémon would come out anyway so I had now virtual pets that were just as cute but a lot less stressful to maintain.

Ducktales for NES is one of the contenders of favorite video games but my favorite console definitely was the SNES! My glory days of gaming! While I loved all Nintendo Consoles to bit up until the Wii , which almost made me renounce Nintendo for a while, the SNES is always my highlight.
While Nowadays I’d arguable say Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI/III are my favorite games in quality I am going to have to say Donkey Kong Country takes the cake for my favorite 90’s gaming experience. I was so proud when I finally beat it! The music the graphics and the overall gameplay was so amazing for it! I vastly preferred it’s platforming over Mario’s. Beating an enemy felt so much more satisfying and the level design back then to me was unparalleled. While there are games I acknowledge are better this is one of the games I could always be asked to play and I will always enjoy myself with even if it’s just to look at it!
I can’t remember if we ever had cereal toys, I do remember that for quite a while though I was really into the rice based cereal. Like Coco Puffs or Rice Crispies but I really alternated. One of the best cereal memories I have though is that of Kellogs Frosties. Back in the 90’s I would stay over and my grandparents , who lived in the same town, a lot. It would often be a break from my sister. I was always a kid that really thrived on some alone time. While Grandma was always overly caring she would often let me wander her big garden or the big house alone! I could play hours finding some old board games she had trying to understand the rules, or wandering on the 7 meter sound wall her garden was edges off with, I would always be up fairly early because she woke up very early and she would make me a soft boiled egg and I would get this beautiful little crystal bowl with super cold milk we got in a very special supermarket in Belgium where I could eat my Frosties from.. after the soft boiled egg was finished. We always made our egg super salty so the milky and sugary stuff afterwards were really good! I would come back home so relaxed and thoroughly overfed.
I was 13 when the 90’s ended! I wasn’t very feminine and mostly into geek stuff. Like Power Rangers but also Dark Wing Duck and I had a big thing for classic monsters. Horror books but also pseudo-scientific books on how Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies worked. I wasn’t to busy with a crush back in the days. So no one really. Maybe Really late in the 90’s I began picking up Buffy the Vampire slayer and I realised much much later that it might have actually been a crush I felt towards Buffy.. and later when I became more self aware for Willow.. though as the series progressed into the fifth season and beyond I’d lose those crushes on both of them. Phoebe Buffay is another 90’s character I ended up having a bit of a thing for but again .. not in the 90’s !… They are 90’s characters though so you can decide if they count. I never got into that Backstreet boy love thing though! Nor did I ever had a Celebrity crush aside from Deborah Ann Woll.
Ducktales the movie! We did not have the Disney Channel but I am pretty sure that one would count right? The one with the magic lamp? The scorpions! It once aired belgian tv and we videotapes it and I watched the heck out of that! Those wishes, that ending.. I loved it so much! The villain scared me for a bit but I watched this movie until the video began breaking. The sound began to go off key and more and more wear began to show on the tape from rewinding it so much! I loved it more than the show and that already was very dear to me! Not my favorite show back then because some episodes weren’t all that good but this movie made me happy every single time!
Now this one is tricky, we had none of those networks in the actual 90’s they all came to us much later, or required some expensive additional package for tv to access. The shows that did reliable air where the Disney shows that usually aired on the Belgian public access channel that me as a kid living near the border could view without any trouble. I loved Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales but I guess I have to say my favorite one was Darkwing Duck! It was so funny and zany! I really liked that almost “fake” hero thing he had going on for him. It was cool to see a hero who is often plagued by bad luck. His analogies stuck with me for a long time as well! Darkwing Duck is the reason why I hate Talespin..as it was the show that replaced it. Back than I was really fickle and just replacing my favorite shows was enough reason for me to hate you with a passion!
Velcro shoes! I know that isn’t as zany but I was hardly going to shave my head and put on a track suit now was I?! I was bullied for a large part of the 90’s as well, (like from 1994 onwards) so my clothing was usually to be as stealth as possible , also something that would not be to bad to ruin when kids threw their juice boxes at me or squished worms all over…so I wore very casual stuff with shoes I could not trip over.. It was not enough to run away as I had a weird motor dysfunction that made me slow and clunky.. but at least I managed to run away a few times when I was absolutely terrified..so a good practical trend. Poor worms that died to bully me! Of course shoes back then had to have light in them so you had to turn that on before you ran away! So that is kinda weird?!
Power Rangers…with barbie/ mini clothes on! I never liked playing with barbies or something like that to much. She always felt like a shallow girl to me! Kimberly and Trini were much more interesting people! I would play the wedding between Tommy Oliver and Kimberly heart a million times dressing them up in barbie clothes which either were way to large or we had adapted. It would not always be a happy wedding though.. Lord Zed would come over and turn their wedding cake into a monster or send Pudgey Pig to eat their wedding buffet. Or they would go to a movie date together and I would just sit them next to me and watch a movie! …Most of the time that Ducktales one.. Sometimes my stories would also be a bit more messed up.. like when Kimberly got stung to death by Grumble Bee which was actually a Bee on a bouquet given to her by Tommy. Tommy who caused her death killed himself from guilt but also in the hope he can find her in the after life. But he gets send to hell and now has to use his ranger powers to battle an army of demons..which were the small soldiers from that terrible movie! I had all those as toys as well.
None of the above we did not have them as channels here! We did get Fox Kids though! Which would be by choice! I remember on wednesdays they had this block of action cartoons named Power Rock which had shows such as Spiderman TAS and X-men TAS. The Tick was also part of that solid line up. During the day there was amazing stuff like Eek the Cat! It also had Power Rangers and Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog!
That really depended on my mood, we had three major cartoon sources. We had Kindernet, which had awesome shows like Earthworm Jim, Bouli de Sneeuwpop (Bouli the Snowman) Maple Town and Star Street. While some are actually 80’s show they ran until deep into the 90’s. I could not get rid of Nils Holgersson even if I tried!
Telekids had stuff Animaniacs but also a lot of ecological stuff like Seabert the Seal , WNF Ranger kids, and of course Captain Planet. Their sunday would be a bit “nature” themed. While on Saturday they would hold a big live show filled with skits, and games , it was super fun. For example there was this segment where kids had to ride derpy cowbot-hatted horse named Harry. Just before afternoon the hosts would do a skit show of our most famous soap opera!
Fox Kids finally would hold the cartoons that one might identify most with Saturday Morning Cartoons, shows like Kidd Video, Biker Mice from Mars, Street Sharks and Inspector Gadget. Fox Kids was usually my go-to but it all depended on my mood.
I actually never really liked McDonalds, I did not like the food and I never really got the toys I wanted. One I remember very vividly was a Flounder from The Little Mermaid that was like a squirt gun! I wanted that as a Bath toy but all I got was stupid Prince Eric! One I did kinda like was those disney figures of Beauty and the Beast and most of their disney stuff. I loved the dress changing Belle Toy a lot! I was upset though there was no Lumiere toy! He was my favourite character! I liked show people and the singing and dancing.. perhaps that’s why I like Idol Girl shows this much nowadays?! I also loved those Disney Characters in a car or train thing.. but those were hard to make a nice story to play with!
Back then it was definitely horror , I was a big collector of those Goosebumps books by RL Stein my favorite one was Horrorland which got sold so short in the tv series adaptation the book was so much better. Yet my favorite book would definitely be “De Griezelbus 2 or 3” Griezelbus was a dutch book series written by Paul van Loon, in which a writer by the name of P Onnoval would lure kids into a trap to eat them. In the first part he is werewolf and by telling them horror stories he tries to wait for the full moon to eat them.
He travels around in a bus that holds props that each tell a story but secretly he is trying to isolated these kids. Part 2 is set in a car graveyard, kids stumble upon the bus as a radio voice begins to tell them stories to stall them until Onnoval now a vampire can rise from his grave and feast on them. In Part 3 he is even further destroyed and is now a virtual presence.. the bus now has become a museum piece and as a special the museum hosts a fake story telling by the dead writer.. and all the kids experience horror stories in virtual reality. In each story a character dies or nearly dies.. but what the kids do not know is that one kid.. experiences the story they see first person.. they are tricked into thinking they are dead. Once weakened Onnoval can choose the body he wants to possess and dispose of the others without resistance.
This book came out in 1997 and while Book 4 had my absolute favorite short story I think the virtual reality and forcing children to experience their own death trough horror experiences was the strongest book to me!
Like I mentioned earlier Power Rock on Wednesday was my jam. Power Rangers, Mystic Knights of Tir na Nog! I loved that stuff, but I think it was on Tuesdays but I can not remember there was this show called the Droom Show on our public access channels. In this show kids would compete in about an eightish number of settings.. each episode had another set.. like Medieval, Undersea or Candy Factory and Horror, each “dream” had its own games where kids could compete for the highest score and in the end they could participate in a price game. Which could win them gameboys, tv’s but also stuff like a day to a theme park or new pyjamas and cool notebooks. Tests of agility , intellect and strength would come into play in one of the best children game shows I saw and I was completely silent when watching this after school! Sure nowadays this would not fly anymore but to a kid this was amazing!
I miss a lot of things, some I can’t even say without trouble. I guess the best way to summarise it is I miss the inconvenience of the 90’s in some cases. How hard it was to get a copy of a game. You had to go out to the store to buy a game, you could only multiplayer by having friends over.. there were only so many screens people in house could watch so you had to make compromises. Video games weren’t always good but if you made a bad buy you just had to suck it up and try again. Nowadays we don’t have to put any effort into anything anymore. A bad video game can be so burned to the ground because you have a new video game within seconds. People who play Fortnite are often so insanely toxic to another because it no longer is hard to see what exactly happened, people have access to how they humiliate you, in slow mode and normal as well in high quality, they can stream it online with the push of a button and there are millions of others who play that shitstain of a game with them so if you suck.. they can just bully you out of there and only have a penalty for like a second. In the 90’s .. matchmaking was a hassle non existent if it was .. it’s a huge hassle. You could not ridicule your opponent because if they left.. you had no one to play with. Even if they picked Oddjob in Golden Eye!
To rent a video or a game you needed to go to a store, talk to people learn about other cool games.. now you can just type the name in a search bar tab a button on your phone and your playing exactly what you want.. this has resulted into a lot of people having a super small world. An anime is only good if it scores a certain MAL rating right now, a movie with a Rotten Tomato score below 50% isn’t worth watching.. back then we did not have that we had to experiment as a result we would be much more grateful to the good stuff. I really wish that we had the social-cultural understanding of today mixed with the gratefulness for any shape or form of content of back then.. only then I think people can be really open minded..
